- JOHN TAGLEY buys a new bike because it's time start start another Cholo build. This time it's a 2002 Road King Classic flhrci. In this film I'm showcasing the bike as I bought it and giving away hints to the direction the build will go in. Also, why a 2002 was great year for the ROAD KING, and why old bikes can still be show-winners with the right mods.

Nice, just bought a 07 road king today. Just ordered $1500 in parts today also. 16” carlini gangster apes (that’s to your videos) new led headlight and passing lights, leds all the way around. Can’t wait!!

Hahaaa that's good to hear and filming has already begun. The last parts for the first film will arrive today and then production really kicks into high gear. Shooting for the finished film late next week.

Just finished a 94 RK Cholo style, it rides great and the looks you get is worth all the hours and busted knuckles. Go for 18" carlini bars, 1.25" works really well👍👍

Gm John I’m looking forward to see you do this build , I own a 05 road king . That maybe I can apply to my bike . I currently run bad dad bags and fender and side covers . And front fairing . So in short my bike looks like a street Clide , I’m thinking in summer take the fairing off , during summer months . And putt it back on in the winter . I’m thinking add the led auxiliary light bar and the blanket roll to the front . I did remove the air ride and went to the progressive 944 ultra low . I was born and raised in Peekskill, that why I said ty for showing it love ..,,,,, 2131 Ravin

Ironically I picked up a 2002 Road King myself earlier this year. Been working on it and it’s finally back on the road. Got some more things to do to mine, but she’s coming along nicely.

With that, now you can ride all the way down here, looking up to see transformation
By the time you figure out the seat and stage one loadout you'll find yourself riding that one a lot more. Compared to the softail I had, pop's road king just overall felt funner to throw around. You'll love the warmth coming from the crossover pipe just under the seat/battery area too. Also, check your cam chest at the earliest convenience and at least put hydraulic tensioners if not the full kit if it wasn't done.. the shoes prematurely wear out so the chain begins to eat the tensioner itself, causing engine damage.

If it has over 20k miles with the twin cam u need to eather replaces the camshaft tensioner with another oem one or a hydrolic tensioner or go to a gear drive cam witch is what I did to mt 2005 heritage and then u never have to worry about the camshaft tensioner but if u put another oem one in it u have to replace it 15 to 20k miles and when the camshaft tensioner goes out it destroyes your entire engine

Think if buying this 2001 RK police edition for a cholo build. It’s looks like a grandpa bike now lol but any thoughts on 01? Really wanted to do the softail as it’s my favorite build you’ve done but the king is pretty sweet too.

I'm looking to purchase a heritage softail. My question to u is what's the earliest yr can I buy and have it looking like yours and does it have to be a heritage or can it be just a regular softail???
You could buy a regular softail and make it a cholo, but it would require quite a bit more work. If you're set on getting a heritage then I'd go with a 2007 and up.

Can you do a video on all your camera gear and the settings you guys use them at?
I use the Panasonic dvx200 with a rode mic as my main rig, a Panasonic vx870 as a "b" camera, I use 2 GoPro 7's, a GoPro 9, and a mavic air 2s for the aerial shots. Zhiyun crane 2 for a stabilizer. Tascam DR05 field recorder for the audio.
All the films as of 18 months ago are cut in 4k at 23.976 fps. And most of my later films are finished in a 100mbps bit rate.
I try to shoot 4k or better in most situations, and use 1080p as a minimum resolution for any shot.
Filmora for all the video editing and FL studio and Audacity for all the audio editing

I was wondering where you go once every nut, bolt, cable, fluid etc.. on the cholo are gone through. You get another bike of course. Wait the cholo's not done ?
