Hi Julia, fantastic video, so well explained 🤩 I've always been amazed at how people do these backward crossovers and thought it would be impossible for me to do it too. But after watching your instructions, I tested your steps and could start doing it in merely two days! Both sides... Wow. Of course, I need a lot more training to have complete stability on the ice and to be more confident, especially going right (left is easier) but at least I have learned the movements. Thank you so much!😀🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇
I’ve just learned shoot the duck and i can honestly tell you it is so much fun. I know I’ll do a pretty bad job explaining but basically you want to get a lot of speed, go into a deep 2 foot dip and then stick your blade out, angling it so that the heel is away from you. (I hope that helps a little bit). I would try off-ice stretching to earn a bit more flexibility
I watched the forward crossover videos and the beginner skating video, and i was able to do crossovers for the first time on ice today! hoping to try more backward skating the next time i go to the rink 😊 Thank you so much for your coaching!

I'm 14 and I've just started figure skating. Your videos are so, so helpful! Thank you
Awe, I love to hear that! Welcome to figure skating!
i already know how to do them but still, i want to have perfect basics technique and sometimes i struggle with them, your videos are so so helpful!!!
Wow you make it look so easy. I really like the way you break it down explaining. Thank you. I am looking forward to my next ice skating moment.
Glad it was helpful!
I've been struggling with back crossovers and this video finally made it click for me! Using the inside leg and that scooping motion really made a difference. I'd love a tutorial on one foot spins, especially with a 3-turn and/or a backward crossover entry.
Love getting feedback like this! So glad that my video helped you! I have a one foot spin tutorial in the plans, so stick with me and I will get it recorded soon.
The back crossover on ice skates is 4-5 times harder to learn than on rollerblades/quad skates..same with stopping
Your videos are awesome and so helpful for this adult skater! I love to see the progressions and exercises, and listen to your detailed explanations. Keep up the good work!
Oh thank you so much for the positive feedback! I am so glad you are finding my tutorials helpful!! 😀
I just want to say your videos are awesome, I'm on inline figure skates at the moment due to covid, and I was struggling until I saw your videos and I've finally got the backwards crossovers down right, keep up the awesome videos
Great to hear! So happy my videos helped.
OMG THANK YOU , IM A BOY WHO IS 11 AND USING MY SISTERS ACCOUNT LOL . BUT WHEN I WAS 10 I STARTED TO FEEL LIKE I WANT TO BE A FIGURE SKATER :D
I am relatively new to figure skating. I am 50 and started taking adult classes in September. I can do the more advanced backward crossovers, but am not comfortable looking backward as I have not really been taught form. I picked up so many good tips from your video and can't wait to get on the ice and practice these moves. I can tell it will take a lot of practice but that's okay. I am also looking forward to watching all of your videos.
Congratulations on starting skating lessons! That is awesome. glad my videos could help you learn.
This is the best tutorial about backward crossovers I found on youtube. Was looking for inline skating backward crossovers but it works the same way.
Great video, thanks!
Thank you so much, I really appreciate the positive feedback.
My rink is still closed for several weeks, but I love watching your videos to learn off ice! Thanks so much❤️
It will be so great when the rinks open back up and people can get back to the ice!
My coach actually taught us the “advanced” one first! It made it easier for me, still can’t do the beginner one you taught as well 😂
What a wonderful teacher!!
Thank you coach Julia! I’m taking a group lesson where a coach can correct my posture, but your tutorial is more into detail and step by step. It’s a really nice combo imo.
Sounds like you have a co-coaching situation going on. 😆 But seriously though, It is alway so good to have someone in person who can really see what you are doing and help fix things on the spot. I am glad I can come alongside and just help with clarification when you need it.
Excellent breakdown of the movements and body positioning. I’ve watched many videos but none this clear.
i am so glad you found it clear and helpful!
This is a great tutorial. I love that you explain each step and _how_ to do it. How being the key word.
I am glad you enjoyed the tutorial!
THANK YOU so much!! I've been learning on off-ice skates, and with the help of this video, today I just was finally able to do some backward cross overs! I have been wanting to do these for forever. Thanks again!
Fantastic! Glad it helped.
She skates well and she's pretty! I'm really envious!😍😍😍
You are so kind
I’ve been struggling a lot with backwards crossovers - thank you so much for such a great video! It was definitely helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
Stepwise, clear and detailed. Perfect teaching !
Thank You!
Best tutorial videos hands down.
Wow, thanks!
Thank you a lot! It helps to much so see the different parts that the crossover is made out of!
You are welcome! I am glad you found this helpful.
THANKK YOUUU my teacher taught me in such a different way I was so confused but they’re so easy now after watching this video
So glad to hear this was helpful!!
This is so awesome. I've always wanted to learn how to do this. I'm not ready to try yet but it's great fun looking forward to it.
Yay! Keep practicing and I am sure you will be able to pick it up soon.
wow, this is one of the only videos that helped! ur a great coach
Glad it helped!
Amazing video, thank you! I’ve been stepping one foot over the other so my crossovers were very clunky but this explains a lot 😀
Glad to hear you found it informative!! Good luck!
Update: I tried this and now I’m flying backwards! Thank you!!! 🙏
That’s awesome!!!
I finally understand the concept THANK YOU, I train alone, and this really really helps
I am so glad I can help!!
This is very helpful as I’m learning to skate. I’m glad to see this tutorial and find Ice skating, interesting. Thanks a lot Coach🤗
I went ice skating nearly every day when I was younger for about 3 years and then stopped for about 2 years I started again about a month ago and im trying to regain my confidence and be able to do this again I can do forwards cross over just now backwards but this really helped
Thank you so much!😀🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇
Congrats on making backward crossover progress! So glad you found my video useful
Great stuff, finally a video explaining how to go backwards....can`t wait for the weekend to try it out.
Zuzana Hudáková I hope it goes well when you give it a try! Good luck!
I love your videos and they help a lot I was wondering if you could do a shoot the duck tutorial? Thank you!
I am terrible at shoot the ducks, but I have students who are terrific at them! I will see if I can get any of them to help me out!
You super good, me and my son both think you are best in teaching of skating lessons. thank you
Oh, I appreciate that so much, thank you.
Your explanations are so clear! I love this tutorial 😘
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it!
I watched the forward crossover videos and the beginner skating video, and i was able to do crossovers for the first time on ice today! hoping to try more backward skating the next time i go to the rink 😊
Thank you so much for your coaching!
That's awesome! I am glad to hear it!
I love the backwards cross-over it's my fave move on the ice
It's a great move! It feels like flying!
Backward Crossovers are so much fun! So much easier than Forward Crossovers in my opinion.
I love that you can build up so much speed with them. 😊
@@CoachJulia That's what I like about them!
Omg that's the best Tutorial ever! Thank you!
Thanks. So much for watching! Glad you enjoyed it!
Why does it look so simple when Julia does it?
She makes me acctually understand stuff and she makes everything so much simpler for me.
Awe, thank you! I am glad you like my teaching style.
All basics - platforms - fundamentals are precisely covered/executed, then brought together as one, homogeneously. Excellent progression, presentation, execution. Emphasize the importance of the inside leg/outside edge PUSH..................
Thanks so much for the positive feedback! So glad you enjoyed my video.
Thank you. Great video, best explanation I’ve seen. I think I get it now! I’m learning at 43 and I love it!!!
That’s so awesome! Go for it,
Going skating for the first time in months, gonna try this out!
Sooo exciting! I hope it goes well!
You are so great at explaining and demonstrating how to skate back crossovers. The best training video on the youtube. Thank you so much for your hard work in making this awesome lesson for us to learn. I just subscribed to your channel from watching this vidoe alone.
Thank you so much for the positive feedback! Glad you are enjoying my videos.
@@CoachJulia You're welcome! Keep up the great work!
Its my third time skating and I wanna learn how to figure skate.. im 14 years old and these tutorials are really helpful thank you❤️
You can do it!
Clear explanations. Thank you from France.
So glad you enjoyed it.
You make it look so easy!
Awesome tutorials! they are really helping on improving my skating, although I use inline skates, and there are very little tutorials for figure skating for inline skating and unfortunately we don't have ice rink here, only in christmas season but it's IMPOSSIBLE to do virtually anything, it's unbelievably crowded... Thank you very much for making your tutorials.
I am always so glad when I hear my videos are helping people out!
OMG thank you very much, i wasn't able to figure it out how it was possible, your video will really help me in my next training session
Great to hear!
You are a great instructor. Thanks for posting
Thank you so much!
best channel ever
thank you so much! The other time I cried for an hour because I really couldn't do my backward crossovers and it was getting more and more annoying for me... I really didn’t know how to do it :/ so now, the next time I go to the rink, I’ll try the exercises in your video and I am sure I’ll succeed after a little practice ! ^^
I am sorry that you were having such a hard time. I hope my techniques help!
@@CoachJulia I’m now working on backward crossovers in my figure skating lessons and it's getting better ! I am just wondering about something... Do we have to tilt our body to the circle ? For example, if I skate to the right, does my body have to tilt to the right or just stay straight ? thank you in advance :) have a wonderful day!
