The rink is so empty. I am envious. In here it's always packed and also random hockey lovers train next to you which is scary

We are fortunate here to have two year round sheets of ice. I filmed this on an adults only session, so it was nice and quiet. I get it with the hockey players, their style of skating sure doesn’t mix well with figure skating.

At least you have a rink. Where I live we only have outside rinks which off course are only open in winter(usually around christmas time), and they're not maintained that well. So I only get very few skating sessions every year😭 I'm so sad about that.

@@viktoria8189 "we are into hockey and figure skating, it would be strange not to have one"...? I don't get what you mean. I'm also into figure skating, but that doesn't mean that there are rinks available to me. Just because people are into figure skating(or anything else) it doesn't automatically mean that there are facilities available.

oh man! I totally get you! in the city next to us is ice ring with public skating in winter months and its always packed! sooo many kids, so many teens playing "catch me" even adult men with kids doing stuping things... worst skating ever when grown ups with kids are skating reclessly around you, not caring if you can stop or if they don´t run under your feet... :( I always loved figure skating... but after mild winters last couple of years there is no other chance to skate, only in hockey rings inside... :(

THANK YOU so much! I am good with basic forward stroking, but I've always wanted to learn more! As a busy 52-year-old mom who has to drive a bit to get to a rink, it's not really feasible to take lessons, but your videos have inspired me to get back on the ice again after several years away from it! I am relatively new to figure skating. I am 50 and started taking adult classes in September. I can do the more advanced backward crossovers, but am not comfortable looking backward as I have not really been taught form. I picked up so many good tips from your video and can't wait to get on the ice and practice these moves. I can tell it will take a lot of practice but that's okay. Hi Julia, fantastic video, so well explained 🤩 I've always been amazed at how people do these backward crossovers and thought it would be impossible for me to do it too. But after watching your instructions, I tested your steps and could start doing it in merely two days! Both sides... Wow. Of course, I need a lot more training to have complete stability on the ice and to be more confident, especially going right (left is easier) but at least I have learned the movements. Thank you so much!😀🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇

I’ve just learned shoot the duck and i can honestly tell you it is so much fun. I know I’ll do a pretty bad job explaining but basically you want to get a lot of speed, go into a deep 2 foot dip and then stick your blade out, angling it so that the heel is away from you. (I hope that helps a little bit). I would try off-ice stretching to earn a bit more flexibility
