    I agree all of the plates should be the same orientation. It shows the mechanic was paying attention. Whichever way around they are fitted they should not bind on the clutch centre hub or the inside of the basket unless there is a variation of pressure on the pressure plate due to uneven springs strength or visible wear on the Hub Centre. Nice video on a subject I have never thought about. When I rebuilt the clutch on my XJ600 I put the steel plates soft side out but I did use new friction plates and springs.

      Agreed, it shows attention to detail on our part, the next mechanic that works on the bike won't have anything to say.
