Just missing a career mode now. Even something like project cars 2 where you advance from one class of motorsport to the next would already be pretty fun to have.
Agree about FFB. I immediately tried FFB settings from race department and it was so bad that I thought about money back, then switched to default+ and it feels very good.
I concur, the AI I raced against yesterday were not reckless, but skilled. Using different lines to each other and being aggressive in overtaking and making mistakes.
Hope all is well. I've had ams2 for some time and only put a few hours on it. Today I jumped on the track and, I too was blown away with the ffb. I most definitely will be spending more time on it for sure! That and asseto corsa (ac) Haven't got acc just yet but that is most definitely on the to-get list. Thank you for the update. This video made up my mind to spend more time in ams2. Cheers & happy racing
If the FFB is as good as rFactor 2 im going to be blown away. Going to test in VR tonight. Now, if AMS2 only put up daily races for easy to join online like GT7 and rFactor 2, AMS2 would become truly incredible.
After the update, double check the set up for each car, some of them have auto-shifting enabled even when you have everything set to manual. Like the z06 street car, though the auto shift wasn't bad, but I prefer manual. Other than that, fantastic update, and sorta out of the blue. I was hearing last week it wasn't expected til late next month, definitely not complaining because I have 'vacation' this week from work.

I have heard so much about AMS2 and this new update, I went and purchased the AMS2 over the weekend. Still getting used to it, coming from Assetto Corsa. The physics are different, but AMS2 was quite easy to pick up.
@@jakecole7447 i tried it out and imo ams2 feels better then assetto for me, ams2 you can feel the car on the ground and it feels planted but in assetto it feels more floaty ig
@@jakecole7447 So far just using open wheelers, AC seems easier to push into a slide and control, and feels more natural to do so. It seems it's a bit harder to do it in AMS2, like I have to push it more. In AMS2, if I turn too late into a corner, it is far easier to spin it around than AC. It seems default setups are set more for oversteer more than AC's. I'm still learning AMS2, so I wouldn't use my opinions as any good resource I do intend on running it a lot more and getting more used to AMS2 once I get over my jet lag from Japan.
As a majority single player racing sim player the AI in this game now surpasses pretty much most other games by a LONG way. You can do a lot with AI in Assetto Corsa but you'll spend hours creating AI lines and all that but their behavior is still very basic. The best sim for open wheelers. The retro f1 stuff, with the mod skins is superb imo. Reiza deserve huge credit, for their long term plan and effort over the last year. It's come on massively. 🎉

Well im very tempted to pick the game up. I tried the demo a while ago and it felt too much like pcars 2. After downloading FFB files to make the game playable, I actually enjoyed pcars 2 for being able to quickly set up AI races, the weather effects etc. but at the end of the day it was just lacking in the driving physics. It's looking like they've done a lot to try to get that aspect right in this though.
I quit playing this game about 15 months ago, did they fix the bugs? There were a lot of little annoying bugs with this game, just wondering if they addressed it yet...
Yeah I would say most if not all of those have been addressed. It has come a long way in the last 12 months or so. I really great now! Give it another shot!
Using T300 r/s get and TLCM pedals, throttle is very sensitive, breathe on it and I spin out. Figure I need to adjust this either in Thrustmaster control panel or in game, It certainly is easy to play in VR had no issues using Pico or Quest 3 and graphic quality pretty good.
Wow I missed the Default + setting in the FFB menu Until I seen this video. I was like oh it feels the same. I just tried again in Default + and it’s a huge upgrade to the old FFB.
I wanted to try open wheelers so I bought AMS2 instead of iRacing. I don't want to commit to a subscription yet. Is it a good choice? I came from AC and ACC.
Oh yeah! AMS 2 has a wide variety of open wheel cars. Classic to modern. Some are unlicensed copies of the real thing due to licensing costs but they are still fantastic! The physics will feel a bit different then ACC. Probably closer to AC but it's a real good time! Definitely Give the Formula Ultimate a go. It's awesome!
Yes this does tend to be the case. AMS 2 has a better argument for the single player aspect. I wish I could tell you different but it wouldn't be true. There was something called RaceCraft online that used to host online servers but I'm honestly not sure if that is still going strong. Unfortunately built in online racing is not AMS 2's strong point. If you are primarily looking to race online I would recommend skipping this for now. Sorry for the bad news.
Once this update was out, I reinstalled AMS2, and yes it's way better than before. Also the graphics are great as usual. But having said all this, it still can't get me to stop paying RF2.
Best single player is still the official F1 games with incredible AI and an in-depth career mode. The AI in AMS2 became better but it is still average and easy to exploit with how they always give you a lot more room than you as a player deserve, never defend the inside line when you are moving for an overtake, never change lanes to block your overtake move, and there is no proper career mode. Meanwhile the AI in F1 games does all of the stuff i mentioned above.
Man I've tried several times to get into the F1 games but for whatever reason they never really keep me interested. Honestly not sure why but I do know they have quite an engaging single player career. I may actually be a little too in depth for me and possibly why I don't play them much.
@@RukaGoldheart No, but the official F1 games don't have tracks where the AI would be "too slow on X corner" and "too fast on Z corner" like people on the forums are constantly reporting on AMS2, literally every track has issues with AI having problems even racing properly. Sure the F1 games aren't flaweless with the AI either but i don't have to throw a dice whether the AI will just destroy each other like they still do at turn 1 of Monza 91, or turn 3 of Adelaide 88 as i tried recently.
I grabbed AMS2 when it first came on sale, it felt so good back then compared to all the other sims . I've not updated as of yet so I can't really comment, but going by what I've already experienced, this sim is going places, fast!!!. Definitely up there with the top names
If there's a default plus setting that completely updates and changes the game it should be default or they should let you know, yea? I played last night and had no idea it existed until watching this.
Yeah I'm not sure why they don't make it more known. I completely agree with you on that! That's one complaint I've always had with Reiza. They always assume you should know everything without being told and it's just not the case.
Physics is amazing (but still have understeer and too grippy tyres when they start slide, in my opinion). But Ai is not that good, it's too week in some places and incredibly unhuman in braking . But yes that do side by side fight, and they do mistakes which is amazing
GT has the better career of a modern racing game, still god awful compared to he game of the past but hey, we do with what we have. But the regular AI of GT is way too basic, Sophy needs to be in all races.
It's a shame for the devs that this sim has such a low user base. Its monthly average concurrent players amount to just over 400, compared to 8k playing AC, 2.5k playing ACC, RF2 500 and Raceroom 300.
Well, thankfully the community works on that for now. Racing life, is an app that allows you to create your own career. It's quite complete too and also free.
Ive playe dit yesterday and tryed the new update, and yes its great, but the cars are altllte bit to oversteery....But no big problem, the ffb is just awesome!!
@@Vogurt well given that I can take a corner at the same speed and angle in GT7 as I can in AC tells me that GT7 is “sim” /simcade enough to be taken seriously. And how many GT players have gone and had real racing careers after.
I mean the single player part of GT7 isn't honestly that good. It's ok but lets not pretend it's anything like the originals. The driving dynamics and AI are just simply better in AMS2 which makes it better in my eyes. To be fair though I haven't tried Sofi though so maybe that has changed things.
@@DanDiMaggio gt7 has a huge amount of content when was the last time you checked it out ? Also sophy is on version 2.0 now. All this being said GT7 is my least played game due to WRC, AC, ACC was just making a point that for me personally it’s not even close for single player GT7 has so much to offer. Also I’ll be checking out AMS based on your recommendation.
This is my least favorite racing game of all the ones I own. After watching this video, I will give it another try. It seems like all my complaints, you have said they have fixed them, so lets see. My cockpit is temporarily out of commission, so I will have to try it real quick with just a controller (a big drag after using a cockpit).
That's a shame about the rig. Sorry to hear. This is now my go to sim. It's still not perfect but it's a completely different game from where it was at release. And for the better imo.
Yup with the aggression up high they will get super close and sometimes bump you. To me that makes them more like real players in multiplayer races though lol. Try dropping the aggression down a bit.
You just say that because you don't know Assetto Corsa... Assetto still the best at realistic physics and at FFB and at car felling and at graphism, not to mention the HUGE content of AC compared to A2... etc.
Just tried and the physics are so bad its not even a joke... I use to love ams2 then a few months back i switched back to ac and it was night and day... AMS for like gt3 is a drifting mess, no weight to the cars at all. An d Formulas this game redifines feathering the throttle to a all new level... Nope hard pass and not even worth baring the bad physics to play this in vr. Ams 1 was one of the best thing i ever drove... They need to ditch this arcady engine build their own thing like ac is doign with ac2. Reiza is better then this shit game.

is there a site to get the real liveries for cars?

Have you tried calibrating the pedals in AMS2 settings? Helped for me, had a similar issue and works as it should now.
I didn't see a blockline by the AI.
Did they use it?
It's awesome!

whats the first track your on?

@@DanDiMaggio thanks
Which car type are you driving in the second half of the video?
what track is this in the video?

As a backer, I knew they’d get there, just took some time, not gonna lie 😂
What about the online multiplayer Iv heard it’s hard to find a lobby with people is that true I was about to buy it but read some reviews
Multiplayer is not bad either. Just find a league or register to racecraft for ranked racing.
Getting closer to acc every update. couple years and they will have a decent game.
The game is just missing Ferrari, Lambo and it would be sorted! But definitely keen to give the game a try its 70% off on steam sale right now
What track is this? look fun
Historic Spa
@@DanDiMaggio Thanks you i will play it tonight.
is there rubberbanding/handicap with the AI in this game? GT7 has it no matter what you do to the settings and it ruins the game.
Short answer is no. But it's very dependent on how you set the AI skill level and aggression.
Is this game on XB series ?
PC only. There have been rumors for sometime about a port to consoles but I doubt it will ever happen.
@@DanDiMaggio
Thanks, I hope it does come as I need a proper SIM racer not the Inbetweeners like GT and Forza.
Can I do a classic championship with 60s F1 cars with the official F1 game?
@@RukaGoldheart No, but the official F1 games don't have tracks where the AI would be "too slow on X corner" and "too fast on Z corner" like people on the forums are constantly reporting on AMS2, literally every track has issues with AI having problems even racing properly.
Sure the F1 games aren't flaweless with the AI either but i don't have to throw a dice whether the AI will just destroy each other like they still do at turn 1 of Monza 91, or turn 3 of Adelaide 88 as i tried recently.
@@RukaGoldheart The funny thing is that you can do that on AMS2.
Is this game better than Assetto Corsa?
Update is ok but retro formula AI cars on historic Spa are crashing all in one specific place and pile up there )
I grabbed AMS2 when it first came on sale, it felt so good back then compared to all the other sims . I've not updated as of yet so I can't really comment, but going by what I've already experienced, this sim is going places, fast!!!. Definitely up there with the top names
Agree completely I have spent tons of time in ams2 and this update is amazing!! 🎉 Pole position to you sir, keep up the great content.
The AI @2:10 didn't seem that fantastic tbh.
That said, I've never played the game and still run PC2. Would love to give it a go.
If gt was on pc it would be unstoppable
GT has the better career of a modern racing game, still god awful compared to he game of the past but hey, we do with what we have.
But the regular AI of GT is way too basic, Sophy needs to be in all races.
Hey Dan👋
It's a shame for the devs that this sim has such a low user base. Its monthly average concurrent players amount to just over 400, compared to 8k playing AC, 2.5k playing ACC, RF2 500 and Raceroom 300.
It can't be the best single player experience if there is no campaign/carrer mode that you can progress through
Well, thankfully the community works on that for now. Racing life, is an app that allows you to create your own career. It's quite complete too and also free.
good game to play every 6 months lol
Just bring career mode and polish the AI more to AMS1 levels of quality and I don't even need a multiplayer ranked service.
Ive playe dit yesterday and tryed the new update, and yes its great, but the cars are altllte bit to oversteery....But no big problem, the ffb is just awesome!!
Best sim goin atm.
shut up and take my money.
every 6 months all the youtubers say ams2 is good now because of ____ update...but fine i guess ill try it again :(
For me personally it has been decent steps forward with the last few updates, but this one truly is a game changer!
All pc Sims need to learn from consoles multi-player interfaces.easy and automatic races after qualifiers.is not that difficult
How can you honestly say that this is in the same league of single player as GT7?
gt7 isnt a sim.
It's been a while since i played GT. I'll give it another go! @@intelligence6900
will still need a career format or good multiplayer. iRacing might make a career mode before AMS2. AI wise iRacing is still better.
Hugh Mungus??
yup lol
Nahhhh. 🛑👈Dirt 2.0 is still the best Single Player Racer(with Vr). I like AM also tho
What is it?
This is my least favorite racing game of all the ones I own. After watching this video, I will give it another try. It seems like all my complaints, you have said they have fixed them, so lets see. My cockpit is temporarily out of commission, so I will have to try it real quick with just a controller (a big drag after using a cockpit).
That's a shame about the rig. Sorry to hear. This is now my go to sim. It's still not perfect but it's a completely different game from where it was at release. And for the better imo.
But still no career?
post update the F1 2022 cars are horrible to drive.
The driving physics is not bad. But the ai likes to ram you which is annoying
Yup with the aggression up high they will get super close and sometimes bump you. To me that makes them more like real players in multiplayer races though lol. Try dropping the aggression down a bit.
LOL try Forza Motorsport online race and then you will learn what ramming is 😂
You just say that because you don't know Assetto Corsa...
Assetto still the best at realistic physics and at FFB and at car felling and at graphism, not to mention the HUGE content of AC compared to A2... etc.
It didn’t. Still feels crap..
did you really try it?? lol
Also, I believe this video made me to love the game
