Greek immigrants faced terrible racial and ethnic discrimination at the hands of WASPs in the early 20th Century so I commend their descendants who remember those hardships and voted against Trump.

I take issue to the claim that most most Greek immigrants were illegal. All the ones I know are legal. All four of my grandparents came though Ellis island. One had his last name shortened. Europeans can't sneak in easily anyway.They all loved America and adopted her and her ways. I see American flags in your background. That love of America is missing in illegal aliens. Americans would be much more accepting of aliens who loved American ideals and adopt her way of life.

Yeah that's strange... I'm an American of Greek descent. My family came in the early 1900s to Ellis Island first settling in Pittsburg Pa then TARPON SPRINGS, Florida. My father served in the air force in the OSS which is now called the CIA. He became a Deputy Sheriff for the DOT following his period as Mayor and commissioner of Tarpon Springs. He definitely wasn't illegal...
i respectfully disagree, both my grandparents never got legalized, even when they had citizen children. we're on the west coast--they never bothered bc we didn't really have an ellis island. nobody really cared bc illegal immigration wasn't a big issue til it was politicized after president bush. the only real evidence we have they weren't legal was basically the census, which recorded them as aliens pretty neutrally. i don't say that to be confrontational, just sharing my family's experience. regards from SF
I think he means the more recent wave of Greeks, those who came in the 50s and 70s. It was impossible to be an illegal immigrant from Europe before WW1, anyway.
Huge difference between immigrants then and now. We get free loaders who don't want to work. Back then their people came here with 50 dollars to their name and worked hard and then opened up multiple restaurants and small mom and pop shops!!

There was a large amnesty in the 1980s: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immigration_Reform_and_Control_Act_of_1986 . People who had arrived illegal before then were given papers.
