Dusk 'til Dawn Ultra Marathon 2016 ｜50 MILE PEAK DISTRICT NIGHT RACE

On Oct 29th in the Village of Hope at 17:40; the exact stroke of sunset. Hope will be abandoned soon after you leave for CP1 on top of the mighty Lose Hill. You will have exactly 14 hours and 24 minutes to navigate a very challenging 50 mile Peak District course, that takes in The Cat and Fiddle, Shining Tor, Cat’s Tor, and on some courses follows parts of the Limestone Way and Pennine Bridleway.
If the chasing Grim Sweeper catches you, you are out!
As my 10th Ultra for Mind Charity it was always going to be a big race, but I didn't expect it to be my toughest Ultra to date.
Mud, thick fog, and rocky terrain made it a challenge to run much of the course, and when those things weren't an issue it was tough to get my legs on side. Falling over 5 times in a race is definitely a PB and flying face first into a boggy marsh was a particular low point.
It was around 16 hours when I eventually finished, long past sunrise, but it was a race I had to dig really, really deep for.
