that display case back is something i actually like! i wish more brands did display case backs of their quartz offerings. imagine being able to see 9f quartz or precisionist movements!
Precisionist usually has a BIG quartz cell like those used on computer motherboards to keep the time accurate, or in keys or fobs that remote-control a car. That might block some of the scenery!
It's a handsome bugger and I love that they put an exhibition caseback on a VK63! A bit derivative of a Dan Henry 1963 (minus the missing date complication) and I think they need to tweak the alignment of the second hand a bit. But after seeing this and your last video I pulled the trigger on an HZ.01. That one just really appeals to me! Cheers!
I am wearing a watch with an ETA PreciDrive movement that is good for roughly ten seconds a year. Almost as good as the radio-sync watches I used to wear (the station has fringe reception here). PreciDrive means the quartz crystal and associated electronics are in a tiny vacuum chamber to reduce the drift in frequency with temperature.
6:09 I hear this phrase about the moon phase being useless a lot these days. However, I live in a coastal area with nuisance tidal flooding and as a visual creator I occasionally photograph and video the moon. But it does mostly look cool.
I finally got myself a CasiOak & I understand what you mean with accuracy & correcting the time. I’m still a manual/automatic movement at heart but do appreciate the simplicity. ❤
There's an opportunity to fancy up the internals of a VK movement. So much color and finish could be added to various parts. Think they could look super under a glass back. Wonder if they chose a smaller-than-average case size so the movement would fill out that window?
One of my favorite brands is Sector from the ‘90s. Swiss made with Swiss quartz movements. Have eight in my collection. Most of my collection is mechanical movements though. I like this watch Jody…not crazy about the exhibition back though.
I love the concept of Hz. Good looking watch, great bracelet. While I’m not in the market for a chrono, actually I’m never in the market for a chrono, I will be following Hz. Quartz micro brands? Awesome.
Love quartz. I do think that chronos need to be at least 39mm since there is so much happening on the dial. But that’s just me…love seeing love for quartz!
I can see why they went with those dimensions. 20mm lugs to give it the modern beef that buyers still want even if the diameter is modest. (Never hurt the DateJust which had 20mm lugs and a 35.5mm case diameter as early as 1945...) A 13mm thickness that's entirely in keeping with all those 1960s chronos that had 6-7mm thick manual-wind movements and bubble crystals. And a hybrid bracelet that uses Ti for the lightness associated with vintage bracelets but steel outers for a little extra heft. Good point about the bracelet taper not being enough though.
Great looking watch. Man, why do so many of the watches i like come from other countries, and then generate a bunch of duties, taxes, and fees 😢. Or, is that a blessing in disguise? 🤑
The steel/titanium bracelet gives me some concerns about bi-metallic corrosion, since the two metals have different electrical potentials, some electron traveling between the two could result in some crud developing over time.
You are not wrong. My Sisters watch has salt deposit near lugs due to sweat. Now What I do to protect mine is wipe with cotton cloth dipped in water after wearing. And also lightly polish it with cream to have a layer on the watch.
I sorta like this Hz, one bit I'd like to see is the sub-registers numbers being different from one another. Make the 24 hr. sub w/ a heavier font & make the 24 taller. Make the minute register font broader so it's easier to read and not confuse w/ the seconds register. Wouldn't hurt to make the seconds register w/ a red 60. Tiny changes but hey, we can always suggest to the maker.
Love the display back! I think it is beautiful. People complaining about quartz watches remind me of all the sundial users who complained that clocks were soulless.
Handy for am-pm but that's about all. It would mean going to a different movement though (most likely more expensive) and let's face it, almost nobody will be timing anything. Date would be useful.
But you'd have to consider people who live in accomodations without any windows, and who are also unable/prohibited from going outside to see what time of the day it is
Like it a lot. Already loved their first model and this one is also a looker and has a great spec package to boot. On the age old mechanical vs quartz question : I own both, my most expensive watch is fitted with a GMT 9F (no prize for finding what the model is 😉) but I also enjoy the chronometer spec of my Formex Essence, the vintage feel of my Baltic Hermétique and the brilliant design of my Unimatic Modelo Uno.
Don't want another chrono, but love the design language of this watch. Display caseback is a genius idea, quartz is great why not show it off. Always loved the Bulova Accutron. Be keeping an eye on HZ. Thanks for another good review.
Quartz accuracy, the reason when I finally bought a Submariner homage I got the Addiesdive MY H3, the quartz version. I wanted a daily wearer Subby and wanted the time to be accurate.
I mean, your phone is still going to be more accurate than that quartz, so does it really matter if you have to reset a mechanical watch every now & then?
Heritage is just marketing BS. Most watch brands are just trademarks of defunct companies owned by fashion conglomerates. They often have no connection to the original company. In many cases they don't even make watches.
I think it’s awesome. 37 does seem a weeee bit small though. It would have been perfect at 39. I definitely need to get a hold of their field watch though… thanks for the great preview and review!
I like the ‘broad shoulders’ look of a bracelet that starts out oversized at the case, but only if is accompanied by an aggressive taper down to the clasp. The strong taper emphasizes the broad shoulders, and imparts an energy. It’s like the cut of a man’s suit with broad shoulders and taking a trim waist to full advantage. (I guess the same thing can happen with a woman’s suit)
😂 Very original! LOVE the exhibition case back showing the battery. Too small for my wrist but I'm sure there are some slimmer wristed people who will appreciate it to bits. 👍
It's a nice watch. Love the dimensions! I prefer quartz over mechanical, especially solar. I don't mind a 24-hour subdial IF it's on a mechanical watch with a Date indicator. Honestly, for less money, I prefer the Timex Q Snoopy Chrono TW2W68900.
Ga day Jodi!!!Finally have tge money to purchase a Euribus Origen and was wondering if you have a discount code for first time buyers???Also just wanted to wish you and your Beautiful family a Merry Christmas and and a Joyous New Year 😊
100% spot on review, agree with everything you said there. I think the slightly off proportions, for me, make it a no sale, but not a bad looking watch overall 👍
Looks nice, but too small for me. 40mm is my minimum. I love my mechanical and auto watches. But my grab and go is my Bulova Lunar Pilot. I wish Seiko would release a new mechaquartz with 3 sub registers but losing the 24hr complication lol
Live the exhibition Caseback on a quartz! Might have been better to use a Miyota 6s20 that has the 1/10th seconds subdial instead of 24 hour subdial, and still has smooth sweep, but overall cool looking watch.
I really like this watch and it really made me consider getting a quartz, but as I'm not on the go ever and I have too much time to not wind and set my Seiko's I'm gonna perhaps pass.
Jody! I was literally just looking at the 01 model you reviewed earlier this year. The price with shipping would be. 240€ but with Finlands ridiculous 25,5% duty bumps the proce up to ~306€ (~497aud).Would you say its still worth the price?
I will say, the clasp integration is fantastic for the price!! I’m really turned off by a lot of watches with tool-less micro adjust because of how bad the gaps on both sides of the clasp. This watch makes it seem like other micro brands are just lazy with the integration. One that comes to mind is the Tuseno dive watch. I would’ve bought the white dial but the clasp just doesn’t sit flush to the bracelet.
Jodyy..time for a JDM beauty next :). Specifically the lineage line LIW M700D. You won't regret itt..its supposed to be a bestseller in Japan. I think its the most feature packed value watch ever made..that is not digital..
I'm a real sucker for reverse panda chronos. Love the sizing and that bracelet is awesome. But that 24 hour subdial.... ugh. The price seems really fair though!
Very nice attractive design from a newcomer, would be a great daily wear. Not muxh to complain about, agree about the proportions. A 38-39 may be better and seems too thick. More taper in bracelet would be nice and VK63 has a date so it must have a ghost position. Would be useful but 37mm probably too small to include it.
I absolutely was not going to buy another watch this year , especially a micro, nope! don't need one.....BUT This is really nice 😮, quartz in good idea, titanium is great, and the guy is local....price is great...damit! Where's my credit card 😢
You goita love Quartz. I have a Pagani PD1701 Moonwatch. The VK63 in this is SO accurate, they should put it in a Speedmaster and knock £5k off the price.
Very nice. Titanium g5, design, bracelet, price, all respectable. But for me (emphasizing this is absolutely not bashing or criticism), it is way too tiny. 37m with such prominent bezel and dial becomes a must-squint-to-see. I'd like to see this one as 40-41mm with the color matched date, and with its 100m wr it becomes a great daily alrounder.
What an insane value ! This is the quality of watch I wish Dan Henry would move into. The excellent lume, sapphire crystal, sapphire caseback, titanium. This thing is awesome!

Sometimes I take out my quartz watch when rushing and the date is wrong so its not just ready to go.
I like they kept the same hands design from the first watch, and I'm amused by the rear showing the module. I'm not taken with the colours, seems a bit pedestrian. I do like what Hertz are doing just think at least one more colour variation would be more helpful
Almost perfect. . .except would prefer 39-41mm and a VK67. . or VK61. . .or even a Ronda 35xx or 50xx (they're jeweled). . .anything without that useless 24hr register.. . .that does it for me.
Petition for Seiko to develop a 12 or 24h chronograph mechaquartz with a Compax layout and high quality parts. It's gonna be twice as expensive, but well worth it... Microbrands like this can then make watches that don't just look good, but also work well for a long time.
Been subscribed for about a year now, and love the channel. l've just turned 64 this past week and can say l much prefer mechanical watches to quartz movements. But to approach it from a bit of a different perspective, l started riding kick-start street bikes in the late nineteen-seventies. Have a few classics still in the shed, but the ones that get ridden start with a ... push button! Classic charm is attractive indeed, and l seldom wear quartz watches, but the ease of use of electric cannot be denied.
Thx for the review. For me, the transparent caseback on an ugly movement (be it Seiko NH or, in this case, a quartz), is a nonsense : I like to see nice things only, better to hide the unpleasant parts :)
The price showed ozzie bucks vs U.S. dollar and it occurred to me that knot that long ago, the price in ozzie was more than the dollar equivalent but it seems that nowadays, the script has flipped and now it takes more dollars than ozzie bucks? Great watch but I'm a little shy about this smaller size looking good on my 19 cm wrist.
Get rid of the silly 24hr sub dial and replace it with a 12 hour counter. And please give me a magnifying glass to read the watch. Other than that it's a nice looker
love the cheeky honesty to show off the VK movement at the back! reminds me of the 90s when every cool and geeky tech was made transparent and see thru

A battery cover would be more useful than a display caseback.
Almost perfect. . .except would prefer 39-41mm and a VK67. . or VK61. . .or even a Ronda 35xx or 50xx (they're jeweled). . .anything without that useless 24hr register.. . .that does it for me.
Try guinand watches. Superb value.
That’s a great value watch indeed.😎
Good value and ticks every box..... of things I hate about microbrand watches.
Petition for Seiko to develop a 12 or 24h chronograph mechaquartz with a Compax layout and high quality parts. It's gonna be twice as expensive, but well worth it...
Microbrands like this can then make watches that don't just look good, but also work well for a long time.
A $5 zero jewels quartz movement will last at least 30 years.
@ It's not the jewels, it's the arms. Mechaquartz resets instantly, you need sturdy steel parts for that.
I wish the Pagani speedy homage deleted the date indicator on the black model.
Classic charm is attractive indeed, and l seldom wear quartz watches, but the ease of use of electric cannot be denied.
if the dial had a slight sunburst it would've kicked a massive goal
Thx for the review. For me, the transparent caseback on an ugly movement (be it Seiko NH or, in this case, a quartz), is a nonsense : I like to see nice things only, better to hide the unpleasant parts :)
The price showed ozzie bucks vs U.S. dollar and it occurred to me that knot that long ago, the price in ozzie was more than the dollar equivalent but it seems that nowadays, the script has flipped and now it takes more dollars than ozzie bucks? Great watch but I'm a little shy about this smaller size looking good on my 19 cm wrist.
The australian alternative to casio
Love to see another mid tier quartz watch
Is the crown screw in or push pull?
Push/pull
I love that flavor of cheeky!
Get rid of the silly 24hr sub dial and replace it with a 12 hour counter. And please give me a magnifying glass to read the watch. Other than that it's a nice looker
what off the shelf quartz movement does that with that sub register arrangement?
@@thesolver1970 the VK67 is one example.
@@thesolver1970 good question. No idea actually. Guess it's about time that somebody made one. Much better functionality.
@@Horizontalvertigo different sub dial orientation though
@@thesolver1970 fine, Ronda 5030.D
Very nice! And $250 seems a bargain.
Aytch zed? What’s a zed?
Good looking watch. Anyone upset about a quartz movement in a chronograph or a sweeping seconds movement is a snob and shouldn't be here.
love the cheeky honesty to show off the VK movement at the back! reminds me of the 90s when every cool and geeky tech was made transparent and see thru
