What! Almost 2k views! I never would’ve imagined that many people would watch one specific video of mine. Y’all are awesome. There are links in the description to a lot of the gear on my truck!
I like the setup. It's refreshing to see a Silverado overland rig. I have a 2010 z71 and camp out of the back sometimes, just got back from Homochitto national forest a few days ago. My setup is similar to yours except I dont have a drawer system, solar power, cb, or fridge. I just do a pelican cooler and a truck bed tent. Then I have a Plano box for kitchen stuff. One thing I did is got a dual battery set up with an isolator so i can run my winch, lightbar, and a few 12v plugs I installed in the bed as well as an inverter off of a different battery than my starting battery. I can run two heated blankets, charge my phone and an ipad all night in the winter and never drain my battery so it's a good piece of mind. I also bought a rigid hitch in-bed spare tire mount for my truck bed. Its sturdy, doesn't take up too much space 305/65r18, and I can leave it back there and still have plenty of room for sleeping for two and a dog. Thanks for the video.
Hey simplicity is key. I’ve played with the idea of a dual battery setup similar to yours. Sounds like you have a really good build! I’d love to see it. Thanks for your input.

Looks good bud. I built mine over the last ten years. I used all crappy lights and made my own switch board that failed years ago. I may order a RC looks neat.
Thanks! I’ve been building mine for a few years as well. I also thought about making a panel but I’m no bueno with electrical things which is why I just went ahead and bought the panel. I believe there’s a link to it in the description box.
thats a dope setup i had a similar setup in my bsd but had to take it out to haul stuff for work. simple and effective. Im going to try to make a customer hitchmout tire carrier and maybe gas can carrier in one now thanks for the inspiration.
I’m glad to be of service. I too enjoyed the setup until it became more of a hassle than helping. It’s great for colder months but the weight and how hot it gets in there doesn’t work for every occasion.
I do have an idea for the rear spare tire. I was gonna do this on a jeep that I had but never got to do it, it would be perfect for your truck as well as a nice challenge. Go to the scrap yard and find a chevy blazer with the swing out tire carrier, take it and run haha jk but I do believe 1st gen blazers could have them too. Anyways, maybe it would be easier seeing it's a GM. Good luck, gonna try this on my avalanche as well.
Haha now that you mentioned it I’ve never thought about that as an option! It would’ve definitely been an interesting challenge to try out. Too bad I’ve already spent the money to buy one. I wouldn’t mind seeing how yours turns out. Feel free to share it with my social media.
Nice I have 09 2500 Silverado 6.0 baby. Sounds amazing. Been wanting do something like this my self. Nice set up! Have you seen the seat covers that help organize misc stuff for the back of the driver and passenger seats might help. I have seen people have a swing out tire system for the chevy. It replaces the whole rear bumper they reviews say it’s a little heavy with no added off-road benefits might be better off getting a roof rack and sticking the spare on top.
That’s a nice platform to build on! Yeah I’ve seen a few of them. I definitely need to organize the back of the cab a little more. Thanks for the suggestions! I’ve considered doing a complete build of a new rear bumper with a tire carrier on it but a custom one might be out of my price point. Something will come up, eventually.
So cool to see someone doing something with a domestic truck. You see so many people blabing about Toyatoes and Jeeps while looking down their noses at everything else. So what are you using to power your fridge when you're out and about? What power source/battery system are you using with your panels?
Agreed! I wish I would’ve focused more on my truck, that I’ve had since college, instead of recently buying an older Jeep. Now I’m trying to get ride of the Jeep and focus on my truck and bike. I have yet to have to plug the fridge in the kodiak solar generator that we use. I keep it on eco mode and it does fine overnight plugged into a cigarette outlet in the truck cab.
I’m currently working on my 2004 Chevy Silverado Z71, got a lot of inspiration from this video. Definietly got a sub here, was wondering about the sticker though!
Because of the few people who actually build the GMT800 I’m happy to see you’re doing the same. Thanks for your support! I can definitely get you a sticker. If you’re able to send me a message on either Facebook or Instagram I can see to it that you get a few.
love the setup. check out titan spare tire fuel tank. or maybe fab up one from k5,suburban. older ford trucks with rear fuel tanks. trailer stub axle and hub assembly will help build wing out tire carrier.
Thanks for the suggestions. I would love an additional fuel tank especially in that spare tire whole. I thought about putting a water container there as well.
@@routinemarkout2099 keep water tank inside. checkout atv sprayers. come in diff sizes and come with ondemand pump already plumbed in. sailboat topload freezer/fridge. can remote mount compressor underneath or between bed sides. coleman campstove and oven mounted to a swing out tv mount. use it inside or swing out for nice weather. and a 4d truck battery will fit between bedsises on passengerside.
Man the bumper was a lot. Around $1600 with shipping. Sure! I can’t give you a timetable yet on when but I’ve been thinking about doing an updated one.
Thanks! You can’t argue Toyota’s reliability not to mention their aftermarket support but it’s also cool building something like the Silverado that not many people build. Tough choice for sure.
Hey man nice build! I have a Silverado very similar to yours. I’m definitely going to look into those control arms and tie rods. Also wouldn’t mind one of those stickers to put on it
Thanks I appreciate that! So far they’ve been good for me. No complaints. If you have Instagram or Facebook that’s the best way we can get into contact so I can send you some!
Hey brother, new supporter here. I am just messing around getting ideas for my pu. I like the way you have yours set up. Keep up the great work man. If you wanna shoot me over a sticker I would rock it on my pu! Keep it up and stay safe!
I really appreciate the support and I’m glad to help. I hope to see your progress. If you have Instagram or Facebook that would be the best way to contact me so I can send it to you!

Cool build thanks for sharing I have very similar truck minus the kryptonite tie rods and locker. Where did you get the locker from? I plan to upgrade my tie rods to the same ones possibly the locker, too. I went with a kodiak transfer case in mine. I'm still early in the build. Looking forward to more of your videos!
Thanks for watching! Oh yeah these tie rods add a lot of rigidity. The locker came with the truck from the factory which is nice. That’s a nice transfer case! I haven’t had a desire to upgrade mine, yet. I’m glad you enjoyed! Take care out there.
They’re great trucks with a few modifications! For light off roading there are a bunch of backroads around the Denton area. Bridgeport off road park is also up there and they have everything from hard to easy trails. I like to find places I’ve never been before. Arkansas and East Oklahoma aren’t far at all from the DFW area. Also, if you’re on Facebook join the Texas Overland group for tons of information.
I don’t feel too comfortable yet doing a review. Once we’ve owned it for a while longer it’ll be one of the first things I review. No I’ve never had a problem with it turning off since I keep it on eco mode.

I can’t give you much of a comparison but they’re 96 watt and I think about 11000 lumens together. Hope that helps. Maybe I’ll be able to get some video of them at night one day.
I was just curious if you thought they were bright for what they are? Some large lights aren't that bright and some small ones really get the light out there. Just curious.
Thanks! Those new trucks are nice but I definitely prefer the older Silverados. I try not to only buy one brand though. With that said I’d love a Power Wagon!
Yeah the Trail Boss looks good but I think it’s still not out of the box tailored for serious off roading. Chevy did good with the Colorado ZR2. Thanks for watching!
I'm going to add the hellwig helper spring soon to my rig. Looks like the best bang for your buck. Good luck man! Let us know if you ever weigh it! Lol

Imo the best color Chevy put out on these classic body styled trucks. Beauty!
Thanks! I agree! It makes it look newer than it is.

Beautiful build I’m picking up my 05 Chevy Silverado z71 today!!
That’s awesome! They’re very underrated for overland builds. Thank you!
This makes me miss my Silverado.
Time for a new build, huh!

Solid rig. Nice to see another GMC Overland build out there.

I’m late to this video love the truck but why not just fold down the back seats for more flat storage to put cooler against back wall etc ?

Yooo I used to live in Madison. And except for the color we have identical trucks

Where does a Mississippi man go overlanding?
Haha wherever the wind blows, I guess.
just get a bumper and with a spare tire stand on it
That was definitely an option but I didn’t feel like paying over 2k just for a custom bumper. Plus, I like the versatility of the current setup.
