The Shocking Disappearance of Seven Mile Beach in Grand Cayman 🇰🇾

- 🇰🇾 Seven Mile Beach the main attraction here in Grand Cayman has been slowly disappearing over the years. When I first came to the island back in October of 2015, there was plenty of beach in front of the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort, and then slowly the beach area started to disappear, it would be caused from global warming or man made causes, who knows for certain. It is very sad to witness and also its been financially tough on the hotels and condos that reside in this certain part of Seven Mile Beach. Lets pray that the beach comes back!
Thanks for watching, Evan and Gaby!

Hi was the video made 2 weeks ago or posted 2 weeks ago? Trying to make a contrast between your video and current photos someone sent me. Thanks
Thanks for the update Evan! We haven't been on the island since before covid. We've been visiting Grand Cayman since 2008 and have never seen the beach like this. Thanks again. Happy Holidays!
Hi there! It is our pleasure! Cheers
Evan, 2 or so months ago I asked you for a recommendation for a beach. we were cruising and just wanted a beach day. you responded and recommended the public beach near the Klmpton. We got off, I quickly found a taxi-van driver just doing beach runs. Chairs unbrellas soft sand clear water and David who brought us beers and jerk chicken. Best beach day ever!!!! Thank you so much.
Hi Katherine! I am so glad that you found our videos useful and helpful! All the best! Keep watching!!!
Thank you Evan for the regular updates. Keep posting them. Enjoy the Holidays.
It is our pleasure!!!
Thanks for the update Evan. Sad to see no beach in front of Marriott and new wall blocking natural sand replenishment at Regal Beach. 🤥 Appreciate you keeping us informed. Still a beautiful beach. We'll just have to find a new spot.
Thanks for sharing this Evan, I first visited the Caymans and 7MB in the early 80's this is very upsetting to say the least....
Totally agree
I remember when you could walk from Royal Palms straight to Calico Jacks
Me too! Good times sadly no more 😔
I was there the very same week and stayed at the Cayman Reef Resort (blue Roof Buildings in this video). While I agree with you that this section of the beach is mostly gone, this video fails to show the majority of the beach past the Coral Beach Bar. I simply walked (waded) past the Coral Beach Restaurant and would walk 4 mile each day on a very wide beautiful sand beach. My observation was wherever there was a seawall, the beach was gone. Where there was no seawall, wide sand beach. To imply the beach is gone is misleading and viewers should note that the majority of the beach is still very much intact.
Very true!!!
So Coral Beach is still 'beachy'? more so than this?
@@karmparker no most of the beach so gone
This is my very first research on 7 mile i just heard of it so now I’m confused
Quite sad to see. I lived there for almost 15 years, and I witnessed in real time most of this dwindling. There are two causes, at least, of this dismal ongoing scenario.
Definitely I hope one day it comes back
Never cared for 7 mile beach. Had a condo at rum point in the 80s when it was just the wreck bar and a small wooden pier.
So they have built a hotel close to the water….”””
The same thing has happened at Negril beach in Jamaica. Shocking to witness the difference in 20 to 30 years. In the 90's the beach area was huge. Climate change is real.
Oh really? Yes it is very sad to have witnessed!
So Sad we loved staying at Regal Beach!!
How are things looking at the moment in front of Reef Resort? In the past we've always booked at Regal, but I think those days are over
Hi there, I think that there is some beach there, more than the marriott that is for sure!
Pig headedness of developers is what has caused the beach erosion. If all the cement walls that are shown in the video had not been built there would still be abundance of sand all along that strip. There is a solution that should be obvious even to a blind man. Mr and Mrs Owners of these properties you want sand in your beaches knock down and remove ya darn walls. 👎🏽
Hi there, very true!
Yep they need natural dunes back. There are new rules about protecting dunes in hawaii
Is there a beach or beach club with a nice beach to visit while there for a day?
Sad to see there is no beach
Shocking and very sad
What do you mean more sand come back hopefully
Send cannot walk ,
This happened TWICE to the Delaware (USA) beaches. Each time the GOVERNMENT spent large sums of money replenishing them. Meanwhile the beaches across the Delaware River In Wildwood, NJ were GROWING LARGER and larger. It’s the nature of the shifting sands over time. Not much MAN can do to interfere with these powerful natural processes. Thanks Evan
Last year entire bays of NY’s Riis Beach had disappeared. The government replaced a lot after Sandy, but I’d never seen it like that before.
Sad 😢
Does the Hampton have any chairs out for their guests at the moment??
Hi there, thanks for your question. Yes we have some not many as per our beach area is very eroded, but we have a daily shuttle to public beach and governors beach.
@@theevanpyle thank you for letting me know :)
King tide. Come back at low tide
Here as of March, 27, 2024, beach is gone now. Way worse. Not because of king tide, it's gone all hours of the day
So what is the long term view?? is it the construction??
Well, it is hard to say, hopefully the sand comes back and they do not have to do anything.
Man that uh...well..looks horrible. Thank goodness I'm going there for tax reasons. What's the nightlife like there?
Hi there, our pleasure! the night life is good but not like the big cities, most places close early.
@@theevanpyle oh, humm, well that gives me something to think about...really appreciate it.
😂😂😂😂😂night life????
@@DouradaBambina oh damn lol nevermind then lol
So what is causing this?
Not sure, global warming? Man made causes? Its a on going debate.
Mother Nature has made her decision😢
She sure has!!!
❤
All the owners who didn't want locals on our benches, let's see them put no trespassing signs out there now.
So where are the tourists going?
All over, public beach or governors!
Mexico.
