  • 🇰🇾 Seven Mile Beach the main attraction here in Grand Cayman has been slowly disappearing over the years. When I first came to the island back in October of 2015, there was plenty of beach in front of the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort, and then slowly the beach area started to disappear, it would be caused from global warming or man made causes, who knows for certain. It is very sad to witness and also its been financially tough on the hotels and condos that reside in this certain part of Seven Mile Beach. Lets pray that the beach comes back!
Thanks for watching, Evan and Gaby!

Thanks for the update Evan! We haven't been on the island since before covid. We've been visiting Grand Cayman since 2008 and have never seen the beach like this. Thanks again. Happy Holidays!

Evan, 2 or so months ago I asked you for a recommendation for a beach. we were cruising and just wanted a beach day. you responded and recommended the public beach near the Klmpton. We got off, I quickly found a taxi-van driver just doing beach runs. Chairs unbrellas soft sand clear water and David who brought us beers and jerk chicken. Best beach day ever!!!! Thank you so much.

Thanks for the update Evan. Sad to see no beach in front of Marriott and new wall blocking natural sand replenishment at Regal Beach. 🤥 Appreciate you keeping us informed. Still a beautiful beach. We'll just have to find a new spot.

I was there the very same week and stayed at the Cayman Reef Resort (blue Roof Buildings in this video). While I agree with you that this section of the beach is mostly gone, this video fails to show the majority of the beach past the Coral Beach Bar. I simply walked (waded) past the Coral Beach Restaurant and would walk 4 mile each day on a very wide beautiful sand beach. My observation was wherever there was a seawall, the beach was gone. Where there was no seawall, wide sand beach. To imply the beach is gone is misleading and viewers should note that the majority of the beach is still very much intact.

Quite sad to see. I lived there for almost 15 years, and I witnessed in real time most of this dwindling. There are two causes, at least, of this dismal ongoing scenario.

Never cared for 7 mile beach. Had a condo at rum point in the 80s when it was just the wreck bar and a small wooden pier.

The same thing has happened at Negril beach in Jamaica. Shocking to witness the difference in 20 to 30 years. In the 90's the beach area was huge. Climate change is real.

Pig headedness of developers is what has caused the beach erosion. If all the cement walls that are shown in the video had not been built there would still be abundance of sand all along that strip. There is a solution that should be obvious even to a blind man. Mr and Mrs Owners of these properties you want sand in your beaches knock down and remove ya darn walls. 👎🏽

This happened TWICE to the Delaware (USA) beaches. Each time the GOVERNMENT spent large sums of money replenishing them. Meanwhile the beaches across the Delaware River In Wildwood, NJ were GROWING LARGER and larger. It’s the nature of the shifting sands over time. Not much MAN can do to interfere with these powerful natural processes. Thanks Evan

Last year entire bays of NY’s Riis Beach had disappeared. The government replaced a lot after Sandy, but I’d never seen it like that before.
