Thank you! We loved Coral beach when we were there early 2020...would still love to come back and visit regardless of some of the diminished beach area. Really appreciate the video as it reconnects me to the look and sound we enjoyed so much.
Was fortunate to have been there in early March 2020 - my favorite spot on the beach. Going back in November and can’t decide if I want to go to that spot or check out your favorite up by the Kimpton.
Thank you for the beach update. It's such a shame, the ecological destruction of seven mile beach. I was there at the Cayman Reef Resort in 2009. There was a nice beach with plenty of room on it. It was not huge, but it was a beach. Today the water is almost to the sea wall. The Royal Palms sticks out into the water because the beach erosion is so severe. In 2009, the Royal Palms had a beautiful beach, and often boats would pull up onto the beach and people would party at the Royal Palms. I actually went there one night when I was there in 2009. I wonder if Grand Cayman will ever be the same again, it looks pretty bad.
Was at Royal Palms 6-7 years ago, & it was great. Sad to see it's gone. What's worse, there is no beach area anywhere that has a bar, or restaurant for cruisers to go to for a day. Might as well stay on the ship.
Hi there thanks for the nice words! It closed due to Covid and hasn’t TD opened I have left the island am back in Canada! Hope you get to visit Grand Cayman soon!
What happened? Was there a hurricane or something? We are going to Grand Cayman on cruise in Dec so I’m starting to research it and came across your video. Do you have advice for how we can enjoy the beach while we’re there?
Hi Kelly, hope your well and thanks for watching, just to let you know I no longer live in cayman islands I moved back to Canada in April. Yes the beach got eroded from rising sea waters in my opinion and human cause! If you’re coming on a cruise ship I strongly recommend going to a place called Public Beach by the Kimpton Seafire Hotel! Bring your towels they have food and chair rentals, but if you want to have more privacy just walk up the beach a little bit past the Kimpton and there is no one there usually. Hope that helps!
I'm really interested to know what's happened here. You said that in 2015 the beach was 100ft out from that hotel, which is A LOT to lose in 7/8 years. I live in a seaside town in the UK and there's no way the so called "rising sea levels" would reclaim 100ft of beach in that time. It's never changed in the 38 years I've been on this planet. Always visit beach resorts for my vacations too and as far as I know nothing comes close to what's happened on Seven Mile Beach. There must have been something else, something significant which could have changed it? Was there ever a big storm that washed away half the beach or something?
I’ve stayed at Regal Beach and the Marriott several times. They have no breakwaters or rock jetties to help maintain the beach. I live near Galveston and they installed rock jetties to help keep the sand on the beach without them, any major surf events or storms can suck sand off the beach.

Thanks for the beach update, Evan. These are very helpful.
My pleasure!
Do you know which hotel has the biggest beachfront on Seven Mile Beach? Or any other beaches in Grand Cayman that don't have erosion?
Hi Abby! Thanks for the comment and reaching out and I hope your well! I would say the Westin!

show us the Dump!
What a shame!
Apparently, the beach sand has been eroding from storms for years, and the local gov did/ has done nothing to slow or prevent it.
That’s correct
