Be aware that Stony Coral Tissue Loss Disease has hit Grand Cayman hard. There’s a lot of bleaching coral in this video, but you need to know what you’re seeing to realize it. If you snorkel at more than one location, wash your gear in between. Bleach your gear if you’re moving on to Little Cayman or Cayman Brac. Tough news, but don’t make things worse!
I have been travelling to Grand Cayman for over 15 years and this is the best quick review for first timers to see!!! The best tip (in my opinion)was the grocery store buffet. ..best bang for your buck!!
Really great video, Dave. Your best one yet! You can really tell that you are a pro. That trip looks amazing… You make me want to do the exact same thing!❤❤❤
We walked around in the evening and felt perfectly safe. We were not however out later than about 10:00pm. Seven Mile Beach is a busy area. Lots of people out and about.
Indeed, that school is 100& dory Caribbean Blue Tang....And the outback barrier reef is the premier snorkeling place in G. Cayman w/ Coral Gardens a close 2nd
Oh ok. That’s what they are. I’m so not an expert at fish identification. But it’s fun to try. The barrier reef and coral gardens are both boat tour access, which we elected not to go for this time. But next time for sure.
Awesome video Dave. Would you recommend bringing snorkeling gear with you? Or is it better to rent while there. My girlfriend and I will be staying on the west end as well airbnb
Thanks Brian. I would suggest bringing your own gear. That way you know it fits you and is in good condition. But the big advantage is you can snorkel on any beach any time. Based on some other videos and a comment here, I will take a boat tour on my next visit in addition to the shore access snorkelling. The barrier reef and Coral Garden are supposed to be nice and are only boat accessible.
@@Whatdavedoes53 the coral gardens in the bay near stingray city aren't worth it, too much wave action. Head to the east and go with Ocean Frontiers. They are a dive company that doesn't treat snorkelers like 2nd class citizens. They have at least 1 trip per day that is all snorkel, usually in the afternoon. Very reasonably priced.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I FOUND AOUT ABOUT THE LOCAL CAR RENTAL AND SAVED ME AT LEAST $700 . this is a very informative video. thanks again.
Glad it helped!
Yes. The other companies were like $900 to $1500 for a week. It looks like they have airport pickup. I hope that is the case. Thanks@@Whatdavedoes53
Nice little review! Thanks for posting this.
@@SummersideDiver Thanks!
Nicely done. Thank you for your post.
We plan to visit and will watch this again - some great tips. Many thanks.
Great video; thank you for posting it.
Grand Cayman may be the most expensive place I've vacationed. But amazing just the same. I applaud your efforts. Blue Tang school of fish btw.
Thank you very much! I appreciate it.
Can’t wait to see those gorgeous sunsets in person this summer. Nice review. 😊

Thank you Vanessa! That means a lot coming from someone who knows the island as you do.
@@Whatdavedoes53 so many great little spots on Grand Cayman. It's like 6 islands in one. Glad you found many of them and shared the experience!!!
Seeing those scuba divers way down there was really cool!
Ya we were floating around way out in the ocean. Thus the vest!
Best snorkeling: Eden Rock, Lighthouse Point & Turtle Reef.
Thanks for the info. We are planning for a holiday in Grand Cayman island.
I’m sure you’ll have great time!
