Y'all's collective reaction, each admitting you succumbed to a common, human defense mechanism, let's call it the urge to _Avoid the Floyd,_ was totally heartwarming to witness. Thank you for expressing that aversion & for giving the band a chance to work their magic spells on you.
    Now. DO. _Time._

🧙...Please, if/when you do decide to react to _Time_ please do the album/studio version from 1973. The 50th anniversary edition might be okay, but I can't say for sure bc I haven't really paid attention. Other years, like 2011? Remastered? & live versions, etc don't seem to maintain the correct tempo during the build-up for maximum intensity. Then, when it does hit, it seems like it's not as pronounced as it should be. I could be completely mental saying this, but that's what it feels like to me & I just _had_ to at least make an attempt to not spoil it for myself.

The Dark Side of the Moon is certified 14 times platinum in the United Kingdom, and topped the US Billboard Top LPs & Tape chart, where it has charted for 984 weeks. You've only experienced the tip of the Pink Floyd music iceberg. All their music is beautiful, even the songs that rock hard, and they all have deep meaning. I very much hope you keep listening. It's mind expanding stuff.
With regards to your discussion: "If a man has an apartment stacked to the ceiling with newspapers we call him crazy. If a woman has a trailer house full of cats we call her nuts. But when people pathologically hoard so much cash that they impoverish the entire nation we put them on the cover of Fortune magazing and pretend that they are role models." I wish I knew who said this. 🤘🏽💗

The best way to listen to Pink Floyd is to listen to the full album. Many times their songs flow from one to the next with no break. "Money", I believe, is the only song on the Dark Side of the Moon album that stands alone. It's an experience, not just the songs. Try "Shine On You Crazy Diamond, parts 1-4". That's an experience I think you'll enjoy!

I was in my 20’s before listening to Pink Floyd for this exact reason! 80’s hair rock definitely ruined me for the rock genre growing up. 70’s rock, 60’s rock is a whole different animal. You can definitely see the blues, the Motown, the funk influences in these incredible bands.

Technically I wasn't even a teen in the 70's but as the second to the youngest of 7 kids this is what I grew up listening to.
The Dark Side of the Moon is certified 14 times platinum in the United Kingdom, and topped the US Billboard Top LPs & Tape chart, where it has charted for 984 weeks. As of 2013, The Dark Side of the Moon had sold over 45 million copies worldwide, making it the band's best-selling release, the best-selling album of the 1970s, and the fourth-best-selling album in history.

I was the same. I am the second youngest, but we had 37 foster kids, my parents had three biological children and adopted 3. One of the adopted children what's a teenager and Cherokee Indian who I hung out with all the time and went to the record stores with and some concerts. Also with other family members as in cousins and aunts and uncle's. We still go to concerts together and there's a lot of musicians in my family. One of my cousins just recorded with Michael McDonald a few weeks ago. I grew up in a big hippie family.

This album is phenomenal, and it changed our minds about what music could be. It took the experimental aspects of the 60's and created a mature blend of everything that came before it. Guys, don't apologize for missing on this. It's completely understandable to us. Music has always been changing and we were there through this particular time (Beatles onward..)There is so much music out there. It's just great that you have gotten to it, now. And it's thrilling for us to be here with you, watching your first listen. That's the joy of sharing music. 🙂

I live in Scotland and we took my 70 year old Dad to the Edinburgh festival a few years ago. He's a huge rock and blues fan so we took him to a Pink Floyd show (just the music not the band) where the entire Dark Side of the Moon album was played. We sat in cinema style seats that reclined and they showed psychedelic images all over the ceiling, it was a trip!!

  • @craigcraigster4999

Excellent reaction and commentary guys to this Pink Floyd classic. The Dark Side of the Moon LP was mind blowing when it debuted in '73, waaay ahead of its time, and is considered one of the greatest LPs ever conceived, regardless of genre. It is a thematic masterpiece that's intended to be listened to in a single sitting in its intended order, since one song flows to the next (headphones/ear buds are a must). "Money" was the biggest commercial hit from this effort, but every other song is phenomenal, especially "Time." I hope you'll do a full album reaction, even if you have to do so in several uploads -- just be sure to listen to each song in their correct order to make sense of the various themes (which include death, conflict, greed, loneliness, madness, and desperation). ✌️☮️

My brothas, talk about opening minds and hearts to new music. 2 years ago, I began my exploration of the rabbit hole of rap music, and omg I'm so glad I did! My music library is so much more enriched. My library isn't complete without the likes of Tupac, Dre, Snoop, Exibit. I can go on, but the point is, I have a wide open mind to nearly all genres of music. And a scientific proven fact is, people who regularly listen to multiple genres of music have higher IQs. That's a fact. It's good for the mind and good for the soul. Let's all open our minds and elevate our IQs through the universal language of MUSIC....

Many people criticize the 70s for being all about long guitar solos. The 80s were so sacchirine sweet and poppy, we forget that true rock, was perfected in the 70s. Since all modern music is just variations on the blues, blue will infiltrate all genres of music, even country and rap. All guitarists know, learn the blues, and that will teach you rock and roll.

If you listen to "Time" from the same Dark Side of the Moon album, you'll be talking about it for hours.........a must listen, but get the lyrics in front of you.

Did you notice some of the lyrics in this song Money are used in the film clip in your reaction video of Another Brick in The Wall ? They are used in the scene where the teacher is reading out loud the students poem. The poem's words are lyrics from this song.

I have to say, I think "Pink in The Wall" would be a great name for a compilation or box set...

The talking at the end of the song was the beginning of the next song, Us and Them, another gem.

We were spoiled by the music of the seventies, all genres were incredible. Glad you fellas enjoyed Pink Floyd, they were a special band for sure and Dark Side of the Moon is a masterpiece for sure. Enjoy 😉

I was never the biggest Pink Floyd fan because growing up the radio was saturated with Floyd and Zeppelin and Skynyrd etc. and I just wanted something different. But that opening groove of the coins falling rhythmically as the bass kicks in was genius (especially in an era before sampling). Plus they were able to inject incredibly potent lyrics without ever damaging the groove, so the song remains catchy, but still very very heavy in terms of message.

Gentlemen you need to listen to two songs from the Pulse live concert ( 1996)… 1 st is Comfortably Numb…. It takes you places! The 2 nd is Sorrow, from the same concert! The entire concert is amazing but these two songs are on a different level! Welcome to the machine boys!!❤️✌🏻

You gentlemen should check out their song "Fearless". It's got great sound but much different than what you've listened to so far.

Welcome to the Grown up's table.
The 70's so Called "Progressive Rock" has given birth to Incredible Music, from which millions of musicians have taken inspiration. P.Floyd is an Eargasm, with a lot to "listen to" while earing the music.

Listening to Dark Side of the Moon all the way through can be as mind expanding as an acid trip. And I've had experience of both. There is a reason I had to buy that album three times it kept being stolen. Love your reaction.
