    0:20 - And that’s that ;)
1:43 - (Q#1) What is your advice for finding a sane, sound therapist?
4:45 - (Q#1.5) Does a fruitful psychotherapeutic relationship require the therapist to have temperamental compatibility or shared interests with the patient?
5:36 - (Q#2) I heard you recently say that if a woman doesn’t want a baby by the age 30, something is unhealthy [….] When you say something might be wrong or unhealthy, where might I look?
8:41 - (Q#3) What do you think of Paul Joseph Watson’s position that populism is the new punk/counterculture?
10:25 - (Q#4) Was there ever a time when you saw a therapist of some kind?
12:10 - (Q#5) You emphasize the spoken truth and negotiation as the alternative to war and cite Solzhenitsyn as a brilliant documenter of the potential or inevitable fall-out of deceit. But in Solzhenitsyn’s diagnosis of the factors leading to the Gulag Archipelago he also included the failure of people to take a violent stance to disrupt tyranny [….] Do the weapons and power of today make violence an inviable course of action?
15:53 - (Q#6) What are your thoughts on Brexit?
19:33 - (Q#7) Is “remove the toxic people in your life” wholly good advice?
21:49 - (Q#8) What do you think of the phrase “Diversity is our Strength”
23:07 - (Q#9) Do you have any practical advice on how I can improve my ability to concentrate and pay attention to the world around me?
    31:04 - (Q#10) Why didn’t you upload your talk from Western U?
31:27 - Some comments about equity (equality of outcome) - content from U Calgary talk
    35:00 - “I love you Dr. Peterson”
35:13 - (Q#11) What are your thoughts on the use of amphetamines to improve conscientiousness?
35:42 - (Q#12) I experienced tremendous abuse as a child and it has led to me being a doormat for abuse. I seek out people who reject me, and reject people who seek me out. How do I break this cycle?
38:29 - (Q#13) Is it safe to go into psychology in university?
39:57 - (Q#14) What music do you like?
41:33 - (Q#15) What do you think about the removal of comments (which were all favourable to you) from the recent Hamilton Spectator article online?
43:31 - (Q#16) How will rescuing my father from the belly of the whale help me with regards to leftist ideologies?
46:47 - WHAT THE HELL IS IT DOING?! …. “This is the fault of post-modernists”
    48:23 - “Don’t yell at Julian” :)
    48:49 - (Q#16) What’s up with the socks?
49:19 - Some comments on dietary effects on depression, particularly in the context of autoimmunity
53:35 - (Q#17) As someone who got a humanities degree, bought into post-modern ideology completely and, until hearing your lectures, couldn’t pin-point that feeling of aimlessness, hopelessness, and aversion to responsibility, how do I begin sorting myself out?
58:35 - (Q#18) Is this chat really just Patreons?
    1:00:00 - (Q#19) Why don’t you use a dedicated microphone and headphones?

    1:07:02 - (Q#22) How tall are you?

The internet is amazing. This is like having instant access to Aristotle to answer any question. A genius accessible for the masses. I take this time to just absorb the awe of the times we live in. These is a truly amazing era. Thanks Dr. Peterson.

      Truly beyond amazing.
The first time in our entire history when we have instant access to all knowledge compiled up until now. Just a little over hundred years ago you had to travel and often travel far every time you needed an answer or insight in something far from accessible to the majority of population at the times. Today, it's just a few clicks away.
Also the first time since we have the ability to wipe the planet clear of all lifeforms with a few rockets and just hit the first truly major human population boom in 100.000 years. All in about the past 70 years.
We're living in perhaps the most spectacular times in human history. Simply put.

I find it so frustrating that our society is so antagonistic. I wish companies and governments would actively seek out wise and educated people like JBP to consult with them, instead of just trying to defend against them when they offer criticism.

I started homeschooling my oldest because of bullying and I thought the whole homeschooling thing was a joke, but the more I moved into the world, the more I saw the indoctrination that goes on in public schools (especially in my very upscale area). My oldest is extremely bright and is about to start taking college courses next year (he'll be in 8th grade age-wise). The agenda is something that concerns me. We can talk about it, and we do talk a lot about trying to see where someone is coming from, what's their bias, but that's a lot to ask from a thirteen-year-old, even a very bright one.
I've shown him some of your lectures, but he's still not quite there yet. It will be a discussion through the years. Thanks for doing this! I appreciate it.

I would like to add a comment on the negotiating wages/conflict. Dr. Peterson discusses how to prepare yourself for negotiations, but a great way to open the conversation that I have found is by going to the person who controls your wage and asking the question "What would it take for me to get a raise?". Getting your options in order is a necessary thing for you to have bargaining power but it's also a 2 way street, and understanding what your employer's expectations are would go a long way towards knowing what kind of outcome you can expect.

"And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more - we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward"

    • @damnationforsaken9430
      @damnationforsaken9430 7 років тому

***** i assume you mean to ask that why the hell not....i say that they are not heroins and heros, if that is indeed what you meant (if not please clarify what you meant)....
what do we mean by a female or a male, is it limited to having vagina and boobs, or penus.....or more relevant are the behaviours associated with those words, with those constructs, i think latter is the case,......so more relevant would be to say wether a certain behaviour is masculine (typical of men, with certain parts exclusive to men) or feminine
That is the architype of a hero is more of a behavioural menifestation of the masculine ...... And architype of herion is more of a behavioural menifestation of feminine
In, the female characters you mentioned and other similar, the architypical menifestation is that of the masculine, those are not feminine representations , though the one acting then out is a female, but that is not representative of women in general, quite the contrary
That is why i say that in a certain way of speaking they are heros.... Masculine.... Moreover rey is the end of starwars... And john of arc , well..nvm..

Adrian Gray 50 shades of gray..... Well i think that's accurate but incomplete in a way, it also represents the feminine desire too be exclusively (only her and no other woman) be, what, raped to achieve that goal,.....
that he should be so controlled by her feminity that can't help but rape her............
and in a way that is rising up in female dominance heirarchy

Dr. Peterson, throughout all of your lectures and videos I'll sometimes have this feeling as if you were talking about me with a scary amount of accuracy. This was one such moment, as were others like your analysis on The Lion King.
I'm 23 and thanks to you I've realized that for my entire life I was simply a dopey Simba in Hakuna-Matata-land - and lying to myself and others was a catalyst to that end.
Since watching your videos I've been doing/saying the things I avoided doing/saying for the longest time. Now I strongly feel that my life's turned for the better (even though it wasn't that bad to begin with, at least compared to others you could say that I'm pretty sheltered and cared for) and I have gained this strong sense of progression, like a shiny golden orb beckoning me to press on forward. I have since worked on and reached some goals: reached my strength training goal of a 315lbs squat, started working on my dream project of developing my own videogame, actually studied for a math exam in university for 3 weeks 2 hours a day (I never studied/had to study for anything in my life, which is the reason I failed all exams in the previous university I enrolled in) and I'm currently planning to teach myself Japanese with online resources in the coming months.
So I owe you thanks for helping me get my shit together, so to speak, I suppose it's something my own father never really did.
And I also know that I'm not the only person you've influenced for the better. Keep it up!

Regarding the effort to increase one's ability to concentrate: perhaps learn to read music. You will experience the need for patience because the composer has set a rhythm and tempo which expresses the feel of the overall piece. Reading and producing gradually more complex notes and rhythms takes time and practice, and thus concentration. Putting yourself on a schedule to do this regularly will provide you with structure and eventually as sense of accomplishment. Such discipline will necessarily generalize to other areas of your life.

Jordan thank you so much for doing this and broadcasting it. Thanks to your son as well. It's nice to see you both laugh and grin with the things that most of us can relate to as our contemporary cultural narrative as per the simpsons and regular family life.
My big question is how do we as a culture and more importantly as a species decide how to organize and both consolidate and distribute power and decision making between individualism and collectivism, although those are most likely the wrong labels. It seems obvious that there are some things that make sense to govern globally such as planetary defense against impact from cataclysmic events. But then things like food production seem like they should be managed on a significantly more local level than they currently are in western society at least. How do we figure out how to scale and optimize governance over these different problems that plague us all and how do we reach a consensus that works for the individual and the species?
