With stands that can influence time from stopping time, erasing time, and then fast forwarding time to the point where the universe resets, where do you go from there? How do you top that? How do you make a more powerful threat? Answer: You don't. You make a whole new world.
I kinda feel sorry for Emporio He's the only one alive from the og timeline, the last remnants from his universe. The weight of that pressure has got to be trauma inducing
This is simply not true, not everybody had their life changed from the universe reset, it was mainly the Part 6 main cast who was influenced by Pucci’s decisions, who no longer exists in this new universe
@@jman1080 You don't need to worry, part 7-9 have almost nothing to do with part 1-6 because Araki reset the universe and made a "new" jojo's from the start again (you could theoretically skip all parts and start from part 7 and you would still perfectly understand what is happening). We know that Jotaro is alive because everyone at the end of part 6 is alive with the exception of Pucci. With Pucci's death, the reset universe that he "created" vanished/got reset back to it's original but because Pucci is dead, it's just like he himself said when he reset the Universe the first time. If someone is dead they won't come over to the new universe and will get replaced by a new alternate version of this peron (like we saw with Jotaro and Jolyne). The same thing happend to Pucci (ironically), which caused the universe to exist with everything playing out the exact same way they happend before. Only with Pucci not existing and therefore all things that happend in part 6 didn't take place and also the JoJo curse broke which is the cause of Jolyne's name change to Irene, since there is no Pucci anymore meaning that every evil Dio left behind is gone from this universe and the Joestar's can finally live in peace. Imo perfectly fitting end to the series.
This is why I love Araki, Stone Ocean is one of my favourite ever endings to a story and SBR is my favourite piece of fiction ever and yet Araki makes a big change like this so effortlessly, also that title gave me a heart attack ;_;
Johnathan and Spoilers below Jolyne were the only JoJo’s to die in their respective parts thus far, but for different reasons. Johnathan’s death was a way to continue the story, while Jolyne’s was to end it. I think that’s really interesting
The end of an era, the beginning of another. Stone Ocean made people cry, made people feel unrecognizable emotions, it's story and characters moved everybody's hearth, it is for sure more and more appreciated starting from this day. The 1st of december 2022 - the last episodes of Stone Ocean were aired and together with them, the original Jojo timeline, the OG Saga delivered it's end, completing the roundabout.
Ironically if Araki wanted to create a truly terrifying part he can just make it "normal" we have all built up a tolerance for bizarreness that at this point normalness will just hit different
True! And hidden within that sense of "normalcy", there can be undertones that something of the regular Jojo bizarre-ness is under the surface to make things seem purposely built to feel off and/or uncanny valley. Some of the best horror media often take what's normal, and slowly build up to revealing (or just hint at/insinuate) that things are actually really not normal as payoff. Imo, I'd write a Jojo part in a similar way to how an older episode of Doctor Who went, with the perspective of an innocent bystander/civilian without a Stand and/or Hamon/Spin (as well as not having knowledge of what either of those things are). From the perspective of a bystander, Stand use and/or Hamon/Spin use must look like something straight out of a Stephen King novel or something out of David Cronenberg's Scanners.
A lot of people don't realize that in the ending of part 6, the universe didn't change or reset. It's still the same universe, with the same characters. The only difference is that Pucci never existed. Without Pucci's influence, Jolyne and the others could live a normal life. So the ending isn't even sad (despite that I still bawled my eyes), in fact, it's actually a happy ending. The only sad part is that no one remembers everything they went through except for Emporio, that's why Emporio was crying at the end.
@@memersnas8684 Jolyne's name is Irene because the Joestars have already resolved their problem with their number one enemy, Dio (which happened in Part 3). With that and with Pucci's existence gone, the Joestar bloodline are finally in peace. The Joestars no longer have a reason to name their children with "Jo", which is why Jolyne's name is Irene now. It's kinda poetic actually
"The only sad part" you mentioned is extremely sad. Yes they are technically the same people but memories make us who we are and the p6 gang were robbed of those (both good and bad). It's such a bittersweet ending and probably the most moving JJBA ending yet imo
I just think its a shame to completely start new. it would've been cool to see other joestars or friends from previous seasons return in newer seasons, like how polraniff did. But now its like we wont ever see gionorno, josuke, jotaro etc ever again
I always like the idea of each major arc being a whole new setting with different characters and themes, because that feels like it leads to a lot of creative freedom in a way.
Really great video and I thought the editing was especially clean. I always thought that the stands went back to a more simple concept in SBR, so it was nice to see Araki did that purposefully.
Meanwhile other popular shounen manga authors stagnate part through their series and ruin its reputation or they just lose interest and try to tie everything up real quick with a rushed final arc.
Really love how Araki handles the power creep of JoJo universe. When the power becomes too OP, he will step back to make more room for more creative illustration of stand power.
That has nothing to do with power being op...i don't understand these fans with power creep...literally has been way more op stands in the new parts, your point just falls apart
@@Dr.HooWho i think what they mean by that is power that directly builds on previous parts, literally every villain from part 3 on had a time related ability that needed to be "stronger" than the previous threat in order to stay imposing, but how exactly do you transcend time acceleration or deletion as an ability? instead Araki stepped back and decided to come up with powers that are terrifying in their own ways; part 7 and 8 have MUCH more interesting main villain powers while still being threatening
@@luckerowl8990 yeah but correlation doesn't means causation, that could've been done without a reset, diavolo really could have had any other busted ability, anyways he was just outpowered by the arrow
I agree, its a question of how do i make my villain scary? Give him OP powers, now how do I make my new villain more intimidating? More OP powers. But Araki is something else, he made all of the villain power scaling controllable, until Part 6
Seeing Moutain Tim in the Interlude artwork makes me miss him even more! This was a great video and I loved learning about Araki's process transitioning from Stone Ocean to Steel Ball Run.
Anyone else feel existential dread when watching Stone Ocean? I mean, I just finished JJBA part 6 today, and it was such a bittersweet ending. Is it possible to think something's good, while not liking it?
Having finished Stone Ocean myself recently, I know EXACTLY this feeling. My mind felt like it got scrambled, and all the characters I grew to love died. Even though Pucci was eventually defeated, I didn't feel like they truly won. I was so sad. At least they won't need to fight any longer in the original timeline.
I just realized that Pucci won. But with not the characters but us: Araki reset the Manga, resembling part 7 like part 1, stories we have already seen, fate being forced upon us, we all know how it’s going to end, we have seen it. That’s even more fourth wall breaking than Rohan. Damn I just love part 6 and Pucci. Great story, sad ending. I need to finish 7 ASAP
tbh, he didnt care about whether the universe was made anew, it was just one of the stepping stones he needed to "gift" humanity the power of precognition, and the fact that he was willing to accept his death after ensuring that this was the reality, which he screams at emporio seconds before his death, we know that his ultimate goal was to simply, allow every living being to predict, although also unable to avoid their own fate. This may have been because he was so devastated by his sisters demise at his own hands and comes to the conclusion with DIO that he would have been able to accept her death if he had been able to see what happened before it happened, and in his own words, be given "peace of mind". Who knows though, maybe he had other reasons, its pucci.
I need to reread part 7 I remember being partly unsatisfied with the ending especially of Johnnys character arc but it is probably objectively Arakis best work yet even if I prefer parts 8 and 4
I mean not really, Pucci created a new universe so everyone knows their "fate". I don't think when reading part 7 we know everyone's fate / what is gonna happen in the story
We all love Jojo do we? I really hope we will see Part 9 in 2023 because it will be a special experience for a lot of Jojo fans to to the birth of a new part and a new Jojo
fr my buddies got me into jojo when part 1 of SO was coming and i grinder it even harder when all star battle r was announced and in the short time i’ve watched and read, i cannot wait for the animation and what else araki will do
It’s also a sad ending. I feel like most people don’t realize that it’s not suppose to be happy. Emporio has been through so much. A kid seeing all of his friends die, trapped in a prison, fighting a man stronger than god. I saw a saying on the ending which broke me: *No one remembers what he’s done. No one will.*
@@SweetTeaConnoisseur In a way they are the same people as far as it is possible without the tragic events that lead them to prison in the previous universe. @@mike.mentzers_top_guy they aren’t tho. When pucci died, the reset basically never happened, it‘s just that in the old timeline now, pucci never existed so after part 3 there was noone who continued dios legacy. Parts 1-5 basically still happened, just now there was no pucci in the timeline anymore creating all kinds of butterfly effects like no agents of dio being send to attack jotaro so that he basically lived a normal life with his family which in turn means jolyne grows up normal without the need of fighting evil, the signature of every jojo. That’s why she is irene now which doesn’t form to jojo in short anymore.
I think both SBR and JJL are better-written than the first six parts, but I'm more attached to the OG Joestar family more because I love the family themes. Johnny and Gappy never met (for obvious reasons) so I'm really hoping the ninth Jojo will meet Gappy and has something to do with Johnny, like maybe a Giorno and Jonathan situation.
Thank you for creating this video. It's really well-made. I often see people ask about this in the fanbase, and it's great that I can just refer them to this video now instead of writing an essay to explain to them what happened.
Great video. Steel Ball Run is so special. Not only on its own merits as a great character drama, but also as an example that even if you feel like you've reached your "peak" your best may very well be yet to come. Araki is such a legend bro
after having finished watching the jbba videos of UA-camrs from my country, I started looking for what was happening in other countries and I must say that this channel and that of hamon beat are really perfect for learning more on this wonderful series that is JJBA but also to improve my zn English levels. excellent work, keep it up ! 👍
He still did both. He specifically said that he made Yasuho a woman to include "eroticism", a direct quote, in JJL. He was forbidden to show people hugging in Jump´s JoJo run as it would imply sexual content. JJL starts with a woman being sexually abused on the other hand.
I think the reset really gave Jojo a whole new perspective, I love the alt universe and all of its references, Araki wants the reader to notice these parallels, even from the origin of stands (hamon - spin) to just the funny name similarities. like- how crazy is it that Araki took that one random kid from part 1 named poco and made him a crazy stand user in part 7. i just love that
Steel Ball Run became my most favorite part out of all 8 parts. It felt new and refreshing with the introduction of new stand powers and the concept of the spin. The new JoBros and their believes are examples of how to show that this is a new world where their experiences and expand the world of JoJo like we’ve never seen before.
Honestly I'd be perfectly fine if Part 9 was the final continuation Part of the series. I think we've reached a point where I'm just not sure how Araki can continue the series, continuing to create new/unique Stand abilities, characters and locations while also having that recognisable bizareness. Now don't get me wrong it would suck,JoJo is my favourite anime/manga so I'd be sad if it did end but I think it can be better to end in a comfy place (in this case JoJolion) rather than try and stretch everything thin (which I think was starting to happen with Stands by Part 6,despite some cool Abilities in Parts 6,7 and 8)
I'd much rather he ends it conclusively at part 9 than just going on and on until he dies and leaving us with an unfinished story or a rushed and unsatisfying ending. But just because he ends the main story doesn't mean he can't continue doing Rohan one-shots (other spinoffs are acceptable as well). :)
I'm still on Part 6. Watching through this next batch of episodes, and will probably read through the rest and move on to Steel Ball Run. As excited as I am to get to Part 7 cause I've heard so many amazing things about it, I'm sad to let JoJo go at the end of Part 6. Saying bye to all the characters -- specifically Jotaro I guess -- just makes me emotional. He's not my favorite character or anything, but with him and Jolyne gone it's like saying bye to Jonathan's legacy if that makes sense -- despite Johnny Joestar in the next part
Yeah I know how you feel. After I read part 6 (this was before part 5 anime even came out) I really did have to take some time to cool down before reading part 7. Reading part 7 the first time however felt like magic.
The name “steel ball run” gives me chills, like it really is one of the best peace’s of media I have ever consumed! And I may have read it not too long ago but it’s just hits me with so much nostalgia.
For Arakis sake and wellbeing, I would like for Jojo to end sometime soon. I dont want this series to end up like those shows that keep going. I want this series to end on a high
part 9 will probably be short. less than 50 chapters. Araki is in his sixties and 1 chapter takes 1 month. So id say 5 years max or else he will need to rush the ending or die before it
i dont know why people say stone oceans animation/plot is bad. I was amazed, and the ending is brilliant, first timed i cried for a character. For me is the second best arc.
The animation was rushed in some parts and could’ve used some more time (especially the c moon fight.) regardless there were also some parts that looked really good like the survivor fight so it kinda balances out 🤷♂️
I find the appeal of JoJo to be similar to the appeal of the Wings of Fire book series. Having a different character be the lead protagonist every book/part allows for really cool and dynamic storytelling.
Hearing that he didn't know what powers could be bigger it's amazing how he still made more powerful stands like funny valentines stand, Diego's stands and tooru's WofU
the main issue with people thinking the "reboot" is because of part 6's ending is that it causes people to completely spoil it so casually, a new viewer/reader will ask "so what's the deal with part 7? i heard it's kind of a reboot" and they'll just go "well it's a bit spoilery but it's because they reset the timeline at the end of part 6 and it becomes the steel ball run universe"
Yeah I always have to tell people "part 7 has absolutely nothing to do with what happened in parts 1-6" to keep it non spoilery. I feel like we're gonna see a new surge of people thinking that because of the (possible) part 7 anime.
yeah I was confused with that cuz I just finished part 6 and my friend said part 6 leads into part 7, but it didn't really make sense to me with how part 6 finishes
1:26 and people seem to think for some reason that SBR happens in the original "reset" universe, which it does not. Everything before Stone Ocean basically still happened, Phantom Blood up to Golden Wind still happened the way it did in the original universe (minus Pucci, but he doesn't really affect parts 1-5 so it's basically all the same)
Jojo has been a big part of my life, I will be so sad when Hirohiko Araki, retires but Hirohiko Araki deserves this long rest he had made all of us so happy and made the best Manga/Anime in history. Hirohiko Araki is a true legend. ❤️❤️❤️
What this video really shows is that Kishibe Rohan is Araki's self insert because "Did you think the great Rohan Kishibe draws comics because he wants money?! I draw comics because I want to be read! "
I’m really happy there’s a massive misconception shirk the universe reset, because it’s such a well known spoiler, but not the actual way it ends, it made the ending still a surprised to me.
I've just got into Jojo's this year by watching Phantom Blood and Stone Ocean only. Later on, a boy entered one of my classes and he was wearing these astonishing Jojo's hoodies and that was the time I thought to myself: "Well I should continue watching Jojo's." Surely , one of the best decisions I've taken in a long time.
the ending to stone ocean was basically just a "good" ending for the joestars and all the fighting that they were destined to do, and that universe's story ending paired great with sbr and the way other universes were involved in my opinion
Basically: Araki's developmental potential tanked to an E rating with part 6, so he found a way to change his universe as to once again achieve S potential. Gotta say, as an artist, I love that he's always pursuing more ways to explore his creativity. Stagnation can be horrifying for an artist, that is true.
Well I would rather name it, his "creative brain burnt out" it makes part 6 seem important still, whole your descriptor makes it seem like he just threw part 6 together to get it done
So many potential for the original universe after part 6, i wished we could've seen a spin off series where all the jojo side characters who survives go on with their lives and irene kujo story.
5:55 Yeahhhh I think he might’ve overdone an ability where you’ll always have misfortune hit you if you ever attack or pursue the stand user of that ability. Not that it’s bad. But the bad thing is topping that busted ability. The only thing that comes to mind is Over Heaven, but that isn’t canon nor would it be canon. Maybe he can continue with abilities that involves Laws, Matter or Space manipulations. If not then he can introduce a new power. Something that is different than stands.
Steel ball run has been my favorite part for years, and I had never stopped to think how much it allowed Araki to take creative liberties again with things he had already established. I think that definitely added to my enjoyment of it for sure. What a genius!
I'm a guy, I rarely drop a tear, but this ending made me drop a single one, this is the end of an era, this is the end of the jojo's universe and a start of another one. Jojo's has crept up in the list of my favourite anime and I've grown way too attached to this universe so a reset hits hard. The characters were made amazing, the story telling was absolutely gorgeous and, well I guess even the stands can reach their limits! In the moment of time I feel really sad, but I trust in the creators abilities to make something amazing once more. R.I.P to the old jojo's, welcome the newcomers!
Bro the universe reset was just got me flabbergasted and amazed as for we went from vampire 1880 ish to generations of a bloodline with soul spirits this series really got me and I obsessed with this series and can’t wait for more
I would love to see a jojo part set in medieval times or a time when gods existed with their stands other abilities based their literature or history throughout time .
Thank you 💚 Until now, part 6 has been my least favorite even when I love the characters in it, but your video made me appreciate a whole lot more and see it from a different perspective 💚
I am definitely interested in the series continuation. I am especially curious about the setting part 9 will take place in. Considering the fact that Jojolion happens in 2011-2012 (based on Norisuke IV's age), where Stone Ocean ended the original timeline, Araki has relatively little options when it comes to characters and relationships to previous parts if Jojolands doesn't take place in the future.
There are so many interesting characters that survived parts 1-6 that I wish he'd tell their stories. Kars journey through space, Von Stronheims experiences through the 2nd World War, Hol Horse and Mondatta's career as bounty hunters, the mystery of Mikitaka from DiU, so much material to choose from rather than reboot the entire series.
It was better that way, everything from part 7 and 8 is MUCH better than parts 1-6, absolutely everything there is better and much better written. In Steel Ball Run and Jojolion it really seemed that Araki wanted to deliver a better written work with more importance in the story than just fighting
I don’t think anyone could kill off all of their characters and then drop a continuation with new characters and leave some important details to amazing success. Like, Araki is just built different. Steel Ball Run is a masterpiece.
Araki's way of thinking is truly amazing. At the end of Stone Ocean, I simply could not imagine how he could possibly come up with a better story, the same way he thought of himself. But having read Steel Ball Run, I think it is more interesting than all 6 chapters combined.
As a person who is creating a story myself and attempting to make a card game as well realizing that you have peaked in your creativity is definitely one of the most terrifying things because you feel that you cannot improve anymore and cannot make something cooler and better. I previously made an attempt to make a card game before the one I'm working on but I ended up falling victim to the idea of "recreate what was already made but better and make the previous form weaker than the new thing." So I had to scrap that and make a whole new one.
Well i love part 7 beacause its its own story whitout being the same dio and jotaro repetated story again and again. immidetly when i started reading the manga it felt new and fresh and it was so cool to see an entierly diffrent area of jojo.
It's cool learning that Araki made steel ball run with new audiences in mind. That was the series that introduced me to Jojo in the first place so it's cool to know it was made with ppl like me in mind.
I cant imagine being single person from og universe who has all the knowledge of whatever happened, it would be a trauma for me , i cant imagine myself in that position it would be just so sad to be single og and once you die it ends all that from og world, its Last remenent just gone!
6:42 Araki: time moves faster and faster close to infinity, i created the strongest stand imaginable, i dont think something can go over that Also araki: Tusk ho brr can open LT which definition idk Also araki again: soft and wet go brrr it can literally take stands if he wants or can take the ability to poop Also araki before: GER go brrrrr it can revert everything to 0 and is the strongest stand in all of jojo

Then by that logic we can say Wonder of U was the approaching Calamity of the satisfaction he felt as Part 6 came to a close. It would've been unavoidable and dare I say fatal to his life as a creator

Yes I agree completely part 6 is my favorite ending in all of manga and part 7 is amazing
Really is a click bait title eh? I almost thought we lost Jojoland
Araki was really built different from day 1, like seriously, who kills their main character and continues the story with a new one
Johnathan and Spoilers below
Jolyne were the only JoJo’s to die in their respective parts thus far, but for different reasons.

Stand name: Despacito
”Will grant its user the ability to snooze the alarm once without waking up, but only on Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays.”
Jojo’s Ordinary Tuesday
Jojo's normal misadventure
Jojo's mediocre salaryman lifestyle
Araki is a legend. I swear it was a long ride. Can't wait for Part 9.

Yea dude. It truly was a roundaboud path. Truly long journey
My boy Jotoro is still alive that's my headcannon
Then why the name changes

Really love how Araki handles the power creep of JoJo universe. When the power becomes too OP, he will step back to make more room for more creative illustration of stand power.
This is a way to put it
That has nothing to do with power being op...i don't understand these fans with power creep...literally has been way more op stands in the new parts, your point just falls apart

Anyone else feel existential dread when watching Stone Ocean? I mean, I just finished JJBA part 6 today, and it was such a bittersweet ending. Is it possible to think something's good, while not liking it?
Of course. Arcane did the same thing. You can agree that an ending was the best out of all possible endings even if it didn't make you feel "happy"
thats how i feel about aot
Having finished Stone Ocean myself recently, I know EXACTLY this feeling. My mind felt like it got scrambled, and all the characters I grew to love died. Even though Pucci was eventually defeated, I didn't feel like they truly won. I was so sad. At least they won't need to fight any longer in the original timeline.
i feel the same. it's... a strange feeling
The whole part was nothing but oppressive to watch. In a way I liked it but it was not enjoyable.

@@mike.mentzers_top_guy they aren’t tho.
30+ of jojo and with part 9 araki still looks Young like he has no stress, proof he is a hamon user
after having finished watching the jbba videos of UA-camrs from my country, I started looking for what was happening in other countries and I must say that this channel and that of hamon beat are really perfect for learning more on this wonderful series that is JJBA but also to improve my zn English levels.
excellent work, keep it up ! 👍
Huge respect to Araki for deciding to write the story he wanted after changing magazines and not just increasing the adult themes for it's own sake
Fate manipulation and time travel still things major villains can have. Smaller villains ain't hard to make when he thinks of a good story

Actually it IS saying bye to Jonathan's legacy. Johnny could be named Hans Dicap'd and it would not change a thing about him.

Yeahhhh I think he might’ve overdone an ability where you’ll always have misfortune hit you if you ever attack or pursue the stand user of that ability. Not that it’s bad. Father Pucci is so strong that he made a season having an alternate universe where he is unbothered by Jolyne
I like how he showed the "previous part" versions of the characters (like how he showed Buff Josuke, part 4 Giorno and Part 5 Jolyne)

Araki: time moves faster and faster close to infinity, i created the strongest stand imaginable, i dont think something can go over that
Also araki: Tusk ho brr can open LT which definition idk
Also araki again: soft and wet go brrr it can literally take stands if he wants or can take the ability to poop
Also araki before: GER go brrrrr it can revert everything to 0 and is the strongest stand in all of jojo
Y couldn't he reset his inevitable death from MIH.
@@listeriohollow7421 bc even though he accelerates time which makes time go faster, accelerating time takes time and time accelerates faster once more time has passed and he didn't have that much time bc of Weather Report so he dropped
This explains where “Go Beyond!” got its name in JoJoLion
Araki~sensei went beyond his own limits to create something completely fresh and compelling and enthralling even though its backbone was based off a lot of his previous work (which I think strengthens it).
Then by that logic we can say Wonder of U was the approaching Calamity of the satisfaction he felt as Part 6 came to a close. It would've been unavoidable and dare I say fatal to his life as a creator
@@WayToDawn72 I couldn’t agree more and this is spot on as well!!!
As far as the Story goes; the Calamity was an Enigma left over from Love Train’s Ability to Redirect Harm to anywhere else on Earth at Random.
What Force of “Nature” do we think was the Other Side of that same Coin??
That would be Wonder of U.
Also, Toru is officially defeated separately from Wonder of U; so that was a pre-existing separate Entity and was left on the Land of Higashikatas when Johnny Joestar used The Completed Holy Corpse to save his son. That’s also where the Wall Eyes comes from.
P. S. - I love your Username Oblivion Keyblade is best Keyblade! 😸✨
