    I born on 1969 and learn to drive in one of those R600 probably 1969 or 1970 the clutch pedal hangs up and swings . Truck has 2 boxes 5 speed and 4 speed. Awesome time I was 15 years old and enjoyed driving it for years. Will love to have one of those things.

    The sound of a Mack air starter or any air starter brings back memories of a past life. They are almost a forgotten sound and not to mention a real twin stick quad. Be very few drivers out there who could change gears without a few teeth nathing? Great vid thanks from Brisbane.

      Sounds like you have some great memories Gregory, those things you mentioned are alive and well here.

      @oldrigsdownunder7301 great love watching an exp driver operate a twin stick with skill. Makes most people driving on a road look very ordenary. I had limited exp with a twin and appreciate a good driver. Can repair them though.

    The motor seems to be running fairly clean for one that has sat around for so long.

    Do you need to be afraid of snakes etc when you are in the middle of nowhere? I really like the scenery and the old truck, something different for me anyway.

      Most definitely have to be careful of snakes. I’m always keeping an eye out. In this part of the country the most common snake is the Eastern Brown, which is the second most venomous in the world. They aren’t the sort of thing you want to be in close quarters with

      It’s a cool old truck Thomas, it’s a quad box, so in theory it has 20 speeds. 5 in the main section, 4 in the rear compound section.

      @oldrigsdownunder7301 That's great. KW; Macks , Atkinson and Whites are my favourite
      I always wanted a Convoy Mack and put a turboed 71 GM in it. My dreams are getting closer.

    Did you use sae wrenches or make due with metric?

    • @oldrigsdownunder7301
      @oldrigsdownunder7301  11 днів тому +1

      On old American gear like this, sae is the weapon of choice. Some of the later model Macks use metric bolts which can be frustrating
