Carting house sections with a V8 Mack
Переглядів 2,2 тис.3 місяці тому
In this video, I put together snippets of videos and photos from the last couple of months carting house sections to northern and western NSW. The work has kept me pretty busy, and has made it hard to get new material together to make a video for the channel, so I thought I’d give you an insight into the work I’ve been doing. Thanks for having a look guys 🙏🏻
Stuck injector pump. Mack 350hp. Will it be ok? Is it usable? #mechanic #macktrucks
Переглядів 2,5 тис.4 місяці тому
In this video, I attempt to free up a stuck injector pump off a Mack 350 4 valve 6 cylinder engine. If I can resurrect the stuck pump, I’m hoping to fit it onto a Valueliner engine that has had a recent pump failure. Wish me luck!! Thanks Sutto for lending me the truck initially, and for allowing some footage and photos.

Gday Dave, considering the age it’s in bloody good order by the looks and ran clean straight up, good to see another saved mate, great episode, cheers
Get it in You Job Well Done Love Me Macks Keen to Know her Tour of Duty.
Hey Dave ,good to see another Mack rescued ,not a bad looking truck seems to be pretty solid, started easier than some new ones, good video as always 👍🇦🇺😎
Nice recovery just like I would do it catchup soon Regards Rob
Good video Dave, but struth, you made me tired with the early morning ritual, a lifetime of that doesn't go away quickly!!🙂👍
Beauty!
The motor seems to be running fairly clean for one that has sat around for so long.
Fantastic video Dave ! Nothing a view from the driver seat mate ! A little time off the bitumen and more great NSW scenery . Thanks mate ! Scott 🌵
Gotta love old mechanical diesels if the engine aint seized up they will start lol.
🤩
Gosh this makes me wanna go to Aus that much more! I LOVE MACKS and we have almost NONE in California! Thx fer saving these old DAWGS! Cheers from Santa Cruz Ca
Nearly ready for run to Darwin 😅 in
Mine got fuel in oil ,what do you think, injectors, or fuel pump feedings diesel to oil because of bad seals ?
Was it a 350? I’ve seen the P type injector pump fitted to those engines let fuel into the oil if the delivery valve nuts are a bit loose on the top of the pump. Otherwise it could be the injector o-rings.
Mate is there somewhere online that has a calendar of all these events, I almost missed the Mack muster and now I’ve missed Ivanhoe. But thank you for taking us for a walk around the site and narrate on what’s what to the best of your knowledge. And I know you’d probably want us truck nuts away from your gear but if your ever looking for volunteers to help move your gear to shows etc let us know.
G’day mate, the HCVC page on Facebook is probably the best supporter and advertiser of truck shows that I can think of. Because they have members across most states, it seems to be a good place to promote a show. Thanks for the heads up on moving a bit of gear around, the next Mack Muster will probably be show that I try to take a number of trucks too, so I’ll keep you posted. But any time you want to go for a run or take one of the trucks for a drive just give me a yell.
@ thanks mate.
Hey Dave ,looks like another great weekend at the truck and machinery show ,some good looking gear there, the FX Holden was the first model to be built which had the jail bar grill ,other than that not a lot of difference, but well before my time, thanks for the video 😎🇦🇺👍
Thanks for the FX info Frank, I’m glad you enjoyed the video mate 🙏🏻
Great stuff at the show Dave, thanks for sharing! Lovely bit of drive by at the end👌 Cheers, Mike
I’m glad you enjoyed the video and the drive by at the end Mike, thanks mate 🙏🏻
G'day Dave. As always thank you mate, enjoyed every bit of the video cobber.🤠
Good on you Daryl, I’m glad you enjoyed it mate 🙏🏻
Thanks Dave enjoyed the show,in 1974 i started an apprenticeship with the E&WS department in Adelaide,as the SA state water and sewerage authority they had big machinery and they 4 B61 macks pulling Drake low loaders complete with winches to pull the trailer goose neck back up onto the prime mover. They also had Atkinsons ERF,s and Foden mostly Gardeners newer ones had Cummins ,was funny when the B61 were in the shop for service and repairs non of the mechanics could drive the twin stick Mack box so the driver would have to do the road test with the mechanic sitting in the passenger seat,as a mechanic thought you might get a laugh at this story ,was such a fun time in life thats why its so satisfying to see these old rigs still going Cheers kym Adelaide
Thanks for that story Kym, what an amazing time you experienced there. I wish o was around to see those trucks when they were new and in service. The gardener is such a beautiful running engine, they have a unique sound, it would’ve been great to see and hear them in service from new. Have you got any photos of those old trucks? Thanks again mate 🙏🏻
Gday Dave, bloody brilliant episode, lots of fantastic gear there mate, cheers
G’day Matty, I’m glad you enjoyed it mate, it was a great show
Fantastic trip out there Dave, good on you for heading out to support em, great selection of gear on display, thanks for bringing it to us cobber 👍
No worries at all Damien, I’m glad you enjoyed it mate. It’s a good trip out to Ivanhoe, lots of good appreciative people there
Thanks for sharing well done
Thanks Daniel 🙏🏻
Great video Dave ,i gave it a like or 2 Catch up soon
Thanks Robert, I appreciate the support. I’ll call you soon mate, it’s been pretty busy here for the last month.
Thanks Dave, that’s awesome
Glad you enjoyed it Alan, thanks mate.
Dave , I just looked on map for Ivanhoe and it looks like you made quite a trip. I forget what town you’re in just know quite a distance south of Steve.
It’s a bit of a trip from Mangoplah Geoffery, it’s about 500kms from home.
@ That’s a long haul in an old truck.
@ I’ve been running 10 hours a day hauling corn in 20 year old Freightliner. That tires me out.
Great video Dave love the vintage trucks and tractors I am 76 fist job at 16 as a tea boy at Fiat tractors Moorabbin Melb 🦘
Thanks Kerry, I’m glad you enjoyed it mate. It’s not a huge show, but a country show with a good feel about it, and plenty of variety in trucks and machinery. I’ll bet Fiat aren’t still in Moorabbin now! You would have some great memories of Melbourne back then. My old Cranvel yard crane was put together by Cranes and Shovels in Moorabbin
Thanks Dave, fabulous video. When I get there again it will have to be for at least a month. It will take some planning as to time of year and what to see. Until then your videos are much appreciated!
I appreciate your comment Geoffrey, thankyou mate 🙏🏻 I’m glad you enjoyed it. It was a great show with plenty of variety. It would be great to have you back in Australia again, and I feel as though we should return the favour and head to your home too.
@ As I’ve told Steve and Pete, all you have to do is show up at Chicago, O’hare and I’ll take care of the rest.
Thanks for showing this Dave . The Mack B-61 and B-62 were everywhere when I was kid in the early 60's .I still miss the way they look and sound . True classic workhorses ! That show was fantastic mate ! Lots of memories for me there . Thanks again mate . Scott 🌵
Hey Dave ,thanks for sharing your weekend, there is some weird and wonderful tractors ,some creative engineering by some farming people,a good way to get people together 👍🇦🇺
No worries at all Frank, I’m glad you enjoyed it mate. It was a great weekend with great people and heaps of variety
Great video Dave! Lots of old grunt at the show👌 love the way the skid's made! Thanks! Mike
Thanks Mike The old sled is a beauty, they kept on adding water to make it heavier until it stopped all the tractors.
Thank you Dave. Really enjoyed it and love the grunt in some of the old girls cobber.🤠
I’m glad you enjoyed it Daryl, it was a good weekend with a good collection of gear
Some pretty cool old gear there 👌, listened to copy south bound the other day was interesting to hear your families story Cheers Rob
Good on you Rob, I’m glad you enjoyed it mate, thanks for the positive feedback 🙏🏻
Great video son. Those unique home built machines are magnificent. Looked like a good weekend.
Thanks son, it was a great show with some really interesting gear there.
Great stuff Dave, Christ wept there was some absolute bloody weapons on display, that was just paradise, have to admit, was a little bit aroused by some of them wild bits of plant!!! Fair dinkum, put a stiffy on a statue😂
Gday Dave, looked like a good weekend, wish they had events like this around here mate, cheers
It was a ripper Matty, very enjoyable with a great variety of gear and great people.
Great video Dave ! Thanks for taking the time to take the video ! Alway good to see the old stuff still working . Om the International , What does the DV 550 mean ? Thanks again . Scott in Arizona 🌵
G’day Scott, thanks for tuning in mate. The DV550 is the model of the V8 engine that the 1468 and 1568 tractors used. These engines were also fitted into trucks.
@@oldrigsdownunder7301 Thanks for that info Dave. I always enjoy what you have for us. Scott. 🌵
Dave this was good video love these type of video,s Kym Adelaide
Glad you enjoyed it Kym, there will be a few more like this over the next month or so with a few good local shows on
Love the B Mack
It’s a beauty mate
dammnnn that old dodge is awesome, i recall seeing a lot of the internationals that look similar i think dad used to drive one for PMG (telecom) that intake is massive too. i see your old girl sitting back there.
Take the silencer off, 3-4 foot tall 5" stack! youll thank me later! These 743 and 855 inch big sixes sound lovely/NASTY especially when naturally aspirated. Got one in a mid 60s letourneau/wabco 777 mechanical grader parked on a rock in the woods, probably similar to this galion. I gotta revive it one day...
I used to drive this same tractor when I was a kid on the farm in the late 60's ad early 70's. Was a great work horse. Do you know if any other models/breeds also had those agricultural disc brake system?
Did you have a super major on the farm Steve? Or do you mean you drove this tractor? It has disc brakes on the front axle but it’s been disconnected for a long time by the look of it
G'day Dave. You've done it now bloke. You'll have to clean the rest of the old girl up now to match the new filter cobber.😂🤠
You might be right mate, it’s due for a decent clean and polish
That's not a bad idea. My old Fordson crane is leaking pretty bad from the fuel filter I might have to do the same
It’s an easy filter assembly to find mate. Ryco and Donaldson and all the filter manufacturers make a similar unit. It seems to be a good fix and it fitted straight onto the bolt pattern of the old housing.
Hey Dave ,pretty solid old unit ,nice job on the filter upgrade,as you have said can get those filter replacements anywhere and a good cheap option, keep up the good work 👍🇦🇺
Thanks Frank 🙏🏻 Yes I reckon it’s a good fix, and I’ve been using it this week with no leaks or problems so far. Hopefully it stays that way.
i recall cranes like this in bundaberg back years ago they used to use them at the frames and trusses place and other places.
It’s hard to find any information or literature about these old cranes, but there seemed to be plenty of them around. Another good Australian company gone.
Dave the Hats sound like a plan sun smart and stylish 😅😅😅😅 Kym Adelaide
They are great, dependable trucks!! I have lots of parts for Mack engines.,
Always very interesting Dave thanks for sharing 🦘
