I always smile when a pilot says it’s ok as long as the zero fuel weight is in trim. If you get to ZFW you will have more to worry about than the trim.

This was really interesting Ryan, thank you. Giving so much insight into your work. A classic upload from you in my opinion, and why I subbed to the channel in the first place. I know you’ve asked if other topics could be explored and I’ve now subscribed to your second channel, I’d watch it. But I am mostly here for the details on flight planning, the scenery etc. and this was top draw aviation geek insightful.
I enjoyed that landing as it was a good example of the old Pitch/Power discussion. I caught that you used power to keep speed which flattened the descent and it was nice to hear a pilot note when the picture is not quite right. I catch some aviation videos of flights where they sue the autopilot for much of the approach. Seeing you hand fly most of the approach is just fun to watch.
I laughed when you were talking about lbs vs litres (metric vs imperial) and it was only numbers. It reminded me of a few satellites being dumped into the ocean due to mixing imperial with metric and the rocket ran out of fuel.😊 Fun video and team work!

As a simple VFR pilot oh by the way has also had the privilege of soloing in a glider, I must say it's pretty impressive to watch the way you religiously use checklist and never miss emergency procedures spoken out loud. You seem to treat every flight as though it was your first. Very very impressive. I've had the privilege of over 8 in structures in my flying career five of them world-class glider pilots. If you've never spent any time in a glider you must try it. It will take your energy management skills to a whole new level that you never thought possible. At least that's what happened to me.
I like the G1000. It’s got to be the easiest nav/AP to get used to. In the sim anyway. Although I’ve flown in right seat in NE England, I’m not a pilot. I like emulating Ryan’s flights in MSFS. PNG is awesome, inspiring. All the best Ryan.

Does your drone have a zoom, looks like you had some tighter shots with the plane on it's approach to the runway (looked really cool). I noticed that you utilised a auxiliary power pack to start up in Goroka when the consequences of a failure to start when out in the field are much greater. What is the plan if the on board power will not enable start up. The helicopter transfer of building materials is familiar to me as I have used this method to lift 200 tons of materials to mountain tops in the eastern end of PNG to construct telecommunications facilities to Misima Island . I enjoy the you program and your acknowledgement of the people of the villages. Bruce

Looked like Clay soil on the runway, Clay and water make for a slimy slick mixture if it gets between the brake pads and rotors and also explains why the runway has slick spots.
I think since they have no information regarding the water table this is why the runway is always soaked. Most times due to location the water will flow uphill and look like its standing however thats just how the water table will work
@edmoore3910 No however u seem to not have a very good understanding of geography. Although gravity may pull things downward the water table me be leaning to the upper part of the hill which gives the illusion of flowing uphill. It takes a simple Google search to understand the water table.

Hey Ryan, I'm a simmer and have been enjoying and inspired by your videos for a couple of years now. I have spent many sim hours in PNG, and it is by far my favorite place in the world to fly. I have compiled a list of over 700 airstrips on the island, and landed nearly all of them with the Caravan on MSFS. A few are so short and treacherous that they require either the Shock Ultra or a helicopter. I am midway through vetting the list and adding airstrip data. I will share it with the sim community soon. I recently noticed a possibly controversial point. I use reverse thrust frequently on the Caravan to bring it to a stop on some of the shortest airstrips. Of course, I have the luxury of no real risk in trying the most difficult situations. I'm curious what your real world experience is with reverse thrust in the very challenging work you do. According to the Kodiak AFM, reverse thrust only shortens the landing distance roll by 5%, so in most conditions, it doesn't really do that much. Where I find it does help is when the ground is very slippery and braking is reduced, then reverse i feel is helpful
When you're near the your takeoff limit & you make a trip to the restroom before leaving because every once of weight reduction counts. A joke people just a joke. I realize he could easily of taken on slightly less fuel. Never good when the runway has highway style rumble strips. Gorgeous shot of his landing! Might make the Kodiak Sales Department highlights.

Kodiak has used some of my drone shots years ago in some of their marketing stuff
Why you do not use the electric trim ? I see you always using the manual one !
I do use it when landing, but all the other times it's Because you can't feel the airplane with it, so your searching rather than going by feel
