just so you know, and im sure you do, if the dart frogs you are planning on putting in there start eating the ants that are going into the enclosure, they could be come poisonous. so if you ever have to handle them or more them for some reason, you should probably wear gloves, although you really should wear gloves when handling frogs and other amphibians anyways.

Is this 600 Gallon Vivarium enough to tell you you're not the biggest in youtube anymore? ua-cam.com/video/RI7G8LydRn8/v-deo.htmlsi=teHzMy_gHPWsmGMB . Plus, I am not gonna believe thats 1500 gallons until you tell or show us the measurements of the enclosure itself.

@@juan2three6 sorry for the late reply, yes dart frogs are not poisonous in captivity as long as they don't eat ants, it MIGHT even need to be the specific species of ants from the are they are from, but I wouldn't risk it either way.

Add two mirrors against the wall and ceiling on fourtyfive degree angle on left and right side of the junglearium. That way, your lightsource will cast more even light throughout the enclosure. Reducing the 'shade spots' to a degree. Which might help some plants.

Loks really nice brother that creeping fig is going everywhere! Loads of people seem worried about the ants. Dart frogs eat ants in the wild seems like supplemental food to me. The mold issue can be fixed with circulating fans simply moving the air inside the enclosure not venting it out of the enclosure. A couple of computer fans 120mm mounted to bliw across the ceiling to keep spores from having enough settled moisture on the ceiling to germinate their spores. The fungus(mold) will still be in the Junglarium just under leaves where springtails can eat it.

Ah, you're right, I just approached the ants as a pest that people usually want to eliminate. They're such cool creatures though, I've always wanted to capture a queen after the local mating flights after they shed their wings. You can tell if it's a queen ant by looking at them closely they have what are called wing scars where obviously their wings use to be attached, if you find out when your local species mates they're found pretty easily because they land shed their wings and scurry around looking for an appropriate place to begin a nest. If you're interested AntsCanada has a great channel all about keeping ants as well as great videos on starting your own colony.

i love that my hobbies have collided as a plant person + arachnid lover. you’re also right about the plant in the far left corner, it’s a Cebu Blue Pothos and will happily take in full light exposure. when given something to climb, because it’s an epiphyte, the leaves will grow huge and get fenestrations!

  • @jenniferbeyer6412

When you trim the plants, try to get them to root. Put them in water and wait for them to produce roots. Have to check out what light they need and how to trim the ends, some need angled cuts. Also there are rerooting powders that some plants need.
Just a thought it will give you more plants, that you know like the enclosure.

On the first tour of this dark den you showed a barren alcove and said it would become a terrarium. I said sure. The transition is beyond amazing. I believe by increasing the air flow and venting to the exterior you will reduce or eliminate the mold growth on the ceiling. Thank you for sharing.

Omg Petko! Ants shouldn’t have a place in the Dark Den. If they start moving, they can kill your Tarantulas and other spiders. Not a good critter to have around your beautiful pets. They can also kill some reptiles. I would find a to permanently exterminate them. Many collectors have lost their tarantulas to ants. The junglearium is absolutely gorgeous. Looking forward to seeing the completed enclosure with its permanent residents. Blessings!

Depending what you are going to keep there you can use geraniol is a extract from some geranium plants. Is a natural repelent for fleas and mosquito (very known by dog owners) but work fine with ants. Even some water cologne have geraniol and I flood ants nest with that kill them all or make them move. Was the only thing that worked in a pharaoh ants pest in my home. Be sure is friendly with any creature you will kept there.

I was able to identify the ant species, this is Solenopsis fugax. They are actually making large colonies and can get up to 100 000 workers even. They can sting too but seldom get through human skin because of their small size. Ants with stingers are bad for any pets you keep though because they can poison smaller animals with it if they have a size of 4-6 cm for example. Their ant venom is potent for smaller animals. Solenopsis fugax is still on the more harmless side. Tetramorium bicarinatum and a bit bigger species can be dangerous. Make sure those ants have no access to your tarantulas especially during the molting phase.

From someone that has kept reptiles and fish for 13yrs, I’ve always over looked ants until falling into hard times, loosing your house and having to find homes for your collection, first time in years I had no routine and nothing to care for. Few days after moving into an apartment, had an ant invasion and gave me a new respect for ants which got me curious about them. Long comment but want to shout out to those that have been thought hard times and found a positive and productive way to cope with life situations.
