WOW as a khan 4 mauy thai i can say this was best mauy thai tutorial for stance on net D: even my master didnt teach me like this. he just told me guard like this or this or this :D ty
Been practising muay thai for quite some time now been 2 years already. Gotta say i feel emberassed when looking at the kid. Awesome form. You trained him well.
Fundamentals , You can’t stress it enough. Some traditional styles might push the hands out or square up more but this style is absolutely perfect in my experience. A Solid base and good structure puts you in the best position possible to go to work offensively and defensively. Nice job good clear instructions!
Thank you! Happy I was able to help through our video! Kudos at commencing in the art, it is absolutely wonderful! Let us know if you have any questions! 🙏
My jab wasn't getting any better because hands were too tucked in to my ribs. I realised my elbows needed to be flared a little bit and my job got instantaneously better. ❤
Cheers. Have to watch it again a few times 😃 always had my front foot turned prob why I'm slow at checking and also having the elbows flared a bit always thought it's easier for them to kick you in the ribs buts it's a cool setup to catch their legs and firing the elbow shots is a lot easier your way 👍
Very useful video. I’m a boxer transitioning to Muay Thai so I’m having to forget everything I have ever learned about my stance and body positioning so it’s a headache to say the least. Do you have any advice for boxers converting to Muay Thai?
Danny/Alex, just catching this old video but looking to refine my technique. Quick question: Is there something I can do to decrease my shoulder fatigue, or is that just conditioning? Possibly keeping my fists too tight throughout so I'll focus on that, but have noticed that my shoulder fatigue is my biggest distractor through my training sessions.
Yes, I keep hands open quite often as well (by habit) since I like to practice my drills light, so it enhances the relaxation and teaches you to remain relaxed and fluid during your motions. 👍
Hey, my trainer is a multiple national champion and he also says that elbows needs to be tight, because of front kicks/knees/punches in solar plexus area. How do you protect against them in stance with wide elbows? Greetings
When you get stronger you can take them easier. Work on your mental too, your mental discipline. Fighting is not always about going wild and being undisciplined. You have to be always ready, that's where discipline comes in
Question: how do you convince a trainer who has come up in a more kick boxing / orthodox stance (elbows in, less shoulder in your straight right) that you want to keep a more traditional Thai stance (wider elbows / higher hands etc)? All trainers seem to want to make adjustments to their style. I think I just answered my own question: try to find a single head coach who you work with all the time.
You can find a new trainer! Haha! But seriously, I think there is always great value in all of the different methods, dependant on the style and outcome you are trying to achieve. The main reason some don't prefer the wide or long guard is simply because they also don't understand how to catch kicks; the clinching game; and also the importance and severity of how elbow strikes play in a fight. All this starts to make more sense once you incorporate all of those three concepts into the striking game, as opposed to boxing only or PKA-style absorbing kicks on your arms. In the meantime, keep your guard tight... but your mind open! Thanks for the question and keep training hard! -DF.
@@ExperienceMMA thank you for your quick answere :D I got another one im pretty in the beginning. So my left leg is way stronger than my right one and my right arm is a bit stronger than my left. What stance would you recommend, still left leg behind?
Hi Shadlee! Only the rear leg. The leg leg should only be on the ball of the foot during rotations such as in the Lead Hook or Right Swing Kicks, for example, where you need to pivot to engage your hips to generate power. But in the Guarded Stance, lead foot should be flat, grounded solid, and pointing toward your opponent. Hope this helps! 🙏 DF.
@@ExperienceMMA The front leg should only be on the ball of the foot during rotations such as in the Lead Hook or Right Swing Kicks right?Should it also be on the ball of the foot when throwing the cross punch? How should we switch from the guarded stance where the lead foot is flat to when the lead foot is on the ball of the foot just before throwing the Lead Hook or Right Swing Kicks?
Correct. You pivot during the twist of you Lead Hook and during the rotation of your hips.and shoulders on the Swing Kicks. Browse through my channel and you will find many videos I posted which covers these in great detail. We are also going to be releasing an in-depth Muay Thai course soon, for purchase, which will include HOURS of detailed knowledge of every single technique!
@@ExperienceMMA Thanks a lot! How to move, i mean should the front foot be flat while the rear foot is on the ball of the foot or should the front foot be also on the ball of the foot when moving. Plus should the front leg be on the ball of the foot when throwing the cross punch? Thanks in advance and sorry for bothering kinda needed to know.
@@shadleekhan7507 I recommend keeping your lead foot flat as it will serve to solidify both your stance during movement as well as during your cross punch. Now, when shuffling quicker to either move IN or move AWAY from your opponent's attacks quickly, you can then balance your advances or retreat on the ball of your lead foot (and back one) to move faster. Hope this answers your question. 👍

The answer would be vague as it would all depend on your current Muay Thai school. I am aware that "some" MT academies focus mainly on the traditional and old school aspect which is inclined towards more clinching; knees/elbows; and kicking. At Experience, I always make it an importance to incorporate a lot of modern boxing into my MT and MMA programs, and I am certain that many others do so as well nowadays, if they understand its importance that is. I myself did kyokushin Karate and Taekwondo, black belt in both! We spend a good deal of time in doing useless form, I hate them. If we use that time doing kick a punches combination, instead our fighting capacity will be much better! Why in other videos hands fist is not closed.. Its partially open
You should always remain a bit loose. Your closed fist will stiffen upon landing the shot.

they need long guard to hand fight - pummel into elbows !!!
