I remember this being released... how has 8 years gone so fast. I'm 21 now, a lot has changed and yet still I come back to this piece of artistry. Jack's music changed my life, in a way it shaped me and was part of my upbringing. I was 10/11 when j first heard his music and it introduced me to music. God bless jack white
Not to be that guy, but it sounds like you're trying to sound intelligent while failing at grammar. We're the same age so I can relate but still, read your own comment before you press posts😂
I don't know how many times i've listened to this song, but the one thing i do know, is everytime i hear it, it's like the first time hearing it. Timeless music, thx Mr. White.
I love how the cinematography greatly compliments his music. Despite his feelings for cameras, Jack White should be on the screen more often - just like this where he doesn't even need to fake it, just go in and do the thing he loves most. I also love how even though he's older here, and it's so different from The White Stripes original, and he has played it a million different other ways it still gets to me like it did the very first time I heard it all those years ago. It's so amazing how when I look at my life now I see so many different things, things that have changed, except for this - it's the one thing that never changes - the purity, the sincerity, the passion, the pain, the feelings - really, it's something you can't precisely describe with words - this music that this man creates; over the years I've realized that it's not just The White Stripes, it's Jack White. Truly, he has touched something that's pure, and raw, and majestic - with his music. It makes you cry, smile, sing along, and laugh - it makes you look around and wonder if there really is a god; it makes you look up to the sun and say "Hey, this isn't too bad after all". This isn't too bad after all. I can literally listen to any White Stripes song, in any way, any version, any year, anywhere, and a million times - and they'll still never change. The songs, they remain the same. That's what's so great about it all. And if you feel the same way too, then be happy - you've found something that will keep you warm for the rest of your life, and quite possibly even after (if there's such a thing).
+MalloryJacobPacheco I wouldn't call that cinematography, I'd call it "Intern stumbling around with an expensive camera". The only thing that saves the video is the fact that we're all focused on Jack's genius and nothing else. But I do see the organic aspect you're talking about...
I totally agree. I really don't understand how some could call this an "intern stumbling around". This is beautiful, and the way it was filmed makes it even more so. The camera man is a genius and I don't understand how that's even a dispute. I feel like he was definitely on the same page with jack the whole time, and I can see this being something jack would love. Very raw and simple and pure.
I listen to this version of "The Same Boy You Always Known" on the daily. It is really awesome to fall asleep with it. I have a rather intense relationship to music, it really helped save my life. Beautiful 💜
Gawd this is gorgeous . . . THE MANDO!! ALL THE STRINGS! SAME BOY; SAME GIRL . . . JUST ANOTHER REFRACTED ANGLE FOR ANOTHER VIEW . . . WHAT IS GOOD ABOUT YOU? CERTAINLY YOUR HEART AND MUSICAL SOUL . . .❤
Each time I look at this video, it gives me a very big smile. This is 'the pure version' of Jack White. His music means a lot to me! Love and greetings from Holland
I think he is one of the greatest musical minds of all time I don't want anybody to jump down my throat I just want to say I don't like his music after the White Stripes it's just a different kind of music I like that old garage sounding Blues and Rock once again just an opinion don't hate me damn it lol
If I die tonight I think I can say I've seen & heard enough from the past to the future of rock'n-roll to make the statement.JACK WHITE is the most talented musician I've ever witnessed-BAR NONE.I am 50 years old & the names Jeff Beck,Jimmy Page,Jimi Hendrix,Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Randy Rhodes,etc...All guitar players are HALL OF FAME but Jack White can play any musical instrument that has strings or keys or sticks.Without fail.Hats off to you Mr.White.You set the new bar of greatness.I can't imagine anyone achieving higher.
I only knew jack white namd never hks music buf im 54 years of age and this man is incredle cant get enough of it all my friends say come on .an i say this sfuff is the baddest shjt ive heard. For along time thx jack
Why does it fill me with some strange sense of peace, aesthetic and wish to live? I feel like this all is about Jack's vibe and it feels so great and so uniquely charming, like another world. And yeah I want to be a part of that world. Awesome art piece! All the greatest love
He is beyond describing. I have been lost for years as to what words can describe this musical Genius!!! People that are music lovers and haven't heard of Mr. JW...well, they're missing out BIG Time!!! He was beyond Awesome in Dallas at the Bomb Factory this past April. He could eat Crackers in my Bed ANYTIME!
I love Jack whites' voice it's so unique and strange yet beautiful. That lady has a strange yet beautiful voice too . Deffinatly suits Jack's music :-)
Wow, these Take Away Shows are a must see not just for the talent of the performers but for the amazing settings, cinematography and production. Enjoy!
Awe inspiring people. They can create a show anywhere anytime. The focus on their faces, and the edge to their posture show that they're doing more than making sound from instruments; they're making sound from their souls.
I love it my favorite of The White Stripes of the White Blood Cells (my fist time with Jack)... I felt like to come back to 2002, and i could imagine to see Meg with you with her tambourine accompanying Jack. it became me very sentimental, to the point that I started to cry... thanks JackWhiteVEVO for being so great... you must come back to Chile PS: i miss whitestripes
Jack you are the only reason im still alive, your music takes me to another place where everthing is good. Thanks from Felipe ad Rocky the Rot. Your One bad ass. dude, All of it.
Sunday evening tunes. A singer, songwriter, guitarist, drummer, record store owner, producer, upholsterer, record label executive, actor, and component of three different bands. Yes, serious skillage!! Gracias Jack White
I've been to Fontainebleau several years ago, I love architecture especially French, but then again they may love our Scottish castles? Fontainebleau is 34 miles from Paris and once belonged to Nicolas Fouquet who aspired to become head of the French government, however Louis X1V was suspicious of his greed. He ended up keeping the Château for himself. Watching Jack White and his beautiful music at the Château has brought back some wonderful memories. Thank you.
"Entitlement". Dude, so many people today (NOT ALL) really are so entitled today with such a lack of humility. This song is such a comfort, it helps me to know someone else "sees it" and doesn't know what to make of it either. Jack also wanted to be a priest, that's probably why he as a reflex for "penance" as he sings in the song; he has a lot of gratitude and guilt and doesn't want to be entitled when so many others do. ... This is kind of a stupid comment, I should have just said I like the song! lol.
I just can't get enough of this song! I play it over and over, yet still love it more with each listen. Almost all Jack White's work is amazing, but the magic of this version comes from his authentically stiring performance of one of my favorite songs, recorded and filmed within the acoustic and aesthetic perfection of that otherworldly French chateau (that I would love to visit, then never leave...). These combined elements (and many more) have made this version of the song one of my top 5 favorites of all time -- and that's not a distinction I make lightly, considering how wide and varied and deep my musical tastes run... Jack White is unquestionably my pick for the most talented genius of the decade.
The best! I’m sitting here crying from the sheer beauty of this music and the absolute genius of Jack White! I wish I had discovered him much sooner than I did. I feel sad that I missed 23 years of his music (though I have caught up with everything now). Now that I have found him, I search high and low for any news about him or his music. I MUST see him in concert again. I love this man, his musical genius and his mastery of the guitar, keys and drums. You touch my heart, Jack White, and I’m old enough to be your mama, but I love you anyway!
I think I just realized why Jack White is now using blue. Blue seems to be present in all of his videos since Meg left. I think it is his way of showing how he misses her. Blue is not the specific opposite of red, Cyan is, but Red was chosen because of her. Blue is a pretty good representation of missing Red.
Jacks next move should be to do a country album;he would be brilliant at it (as he is at everything he does) and, like Johnny Cash, even those who hate country would love it and consider it cool AF.
I listen to this every Friday - my post work chillax - absolutely brilliant - love listening to real music (ie non- synthesised) and diversity of artists like jack White and all the talented musicians he collaborates with oh to be as talented as any of these players!!
I can't imagine a style of music he has not been and would not be amazing at! The most versatile musicians I have ever seen and I like a shit ton of different music!
Jack white is one of the few musicians that has a uniqueness to all his music , and his own style and I like most everything he has out, awesome musician.
The fact this was 9 years a go makes me feel sad but the insane thing is after 9 years this still lives in my memory as a something important is also insane.
Jack white is a great musician and singer he has his own very unique style and that's what I like something different mix it up and he's great at doing just that, and I like the fact that he's a Godly man that's another unique style you don't find much anymore, people that are real and don't fake it.

holy shit, jack, please record everything you ever do in this acoustically beautiful place
Acoustics definitely makes any Song Fabulous. 🌺
Watching and listening to Jack White never gets old. He's the whole package, a true showman.
One of the last remaining rock stars.
The acoustics in this room; so pure, so beautiful.
