Love the fact that they didn't play the songs that have achieved commercial success, they played the songs that sound amazing live and make the most of the boys epic harmonies. ( also my two favorite tracks off an awesome wave :)
I love the old judgemental man in the back towarsa the end. His nod of approval and general enjoyment of the music is wonderful. You can totally tell with his nod as he walks away, there is an internal "they are good kids ❤"
on their facebook page, they say "alt-J (∆)’s name takes a little explaining. Pronounced “alt-J”, the delta sign is created when you hold down the alt key on your computer keyboard and punch ‘J’ on a Mac computer. The symbol has a deeper meaning for the band, as guitarist/bassist Gwil Sainsbury notes, “in mathematical equations it’s used to show change,” and the band’s relatively new name came at a turning point in their lives." i think it's a great name once you know the backstory...
Nail Noonan, there is something on the camera called zoom. He could be 15 feel away and get a close up shot of their faces. The camera operators of La Blogotheque Take Away Shows are some of thee best I have seen. Yes I have seen many different styles of filming, these ppl are some of the best. I love this band, soo awesome!
part of the mystery to me is that it seems there is 1 people filming but i wonder how they get material to do "insert" as we say in french to cover with some cut ... or they are 2 filming at the same time??
Felipe Signe the cutaways are probably just of a different time and they keep the other sound as overlay so it seems like it's happening at the same exact time. (ie 3:22 could've been filmed 3 minutes before they even sit down cuz it wouldn't have mattered)
You ever read a book and when you finish it you just sit there in complete silence sad that it's over but happy you had to chance to experience it? That's me discovering this channel. And being in complete separation from the outside world and totally submerged into this raw beautiful art.
I respect this band so much. I have almost no clue why. their music is just perfect. She makes the sound, the sound she makes to calm me down. all of their music just mellows me out. that basically explains it.
I'm not sure if there's a filter on the camera lens, or if its the natural lighting, but i find the colour balance of this vid to be beautiful, and really fit the vibe of the video itself and the music. Great job by the cameramen.
Wow, just amazing versions of Mathilda and Dissolve Me. The best band in the world. I saw them live in Gothenburg, Sweden this summer, and after the show me and my friends met them in the bar, and we talked for like an hour about everything. Awesome people. More bands should be like them to their fans.
These songs, with Newman's distinct & harmonious voice reminds me of the faces from the past, the ones that haunt me as much as thrive me, from those moments once held so preciously in life to a gap in today. Even to the point of the artistic beauty in the music video by La Blogothèque. Their scenery depicts such a matching tone to the music(except that old guy in then end that completely ruined a shot in an adorable senior citizen moment) and made this one of the most pleasant 7 and a half minutes i have ever heard.
I bought a glockenspiel because of this performance.... i love this video, the smooth travellings and the lovely glockenspiel's melody. Love you alt-j.
why I'm seeing this just now!!! I always thought that would be so interesting to see known bands hit the streets like that, off stage, parlors and lights, and perform in front of people that are not fans and don't know them at all, think is a great experience!! thanks for sharing this
If this happened to be right in front of me while I was walking down the street I am pretty sure I'd just stop, sit down, close my eyes and enjoy their brilliant music while showing the biggest smile.
Just totally stoked about this band... I really don't have it in me to harm folks, and never would. Just excited! I don't often hear a band that resonates in my being...Alt-J does, and I love 'em:)

Can not get enough of this acoustic version of Dissolve Me!

no lol there name came when a band took their name and added The to it so they had to change it lol
thanks for that :)
Alt-J are fantastic, they suit the French lifestyle and atmosphere very well, and their music captivates everyone around them. A truly great band.
I don't think anybody around them realises quite how magic what they've experienced is. Yet somehow this is what makes it all the more special.

Joe is one of those rare natural performers that actually sound better live than they do recorded. Incredible.
Everytime I listen to them I know exactly, why I love them so much.

They have a fascinating purity - no b.s., no "flash" -- just pure music. Love it.

+Matty McGough In any other country it would be post-processing, but in France it's probably _au naturel_ ;)

Being a deaf drummer must take some talent!! This band truly is phenomenal.
"cheers" arent they sweet?? Love them so so much! Just ONE month to see you in Argentina ❤

Why nobody stops? ITS ALT-J!!! I love Alt-J! :3
I got so mad watching everyone walk by
that's because they're singing in english in the middle of France

Love you alt-j.
haha, 'glockenspiel' isn't there any english word for that?
Marty Hofmann Yes, bells. ;P
***** Marty Hofmann I'd always heard it called a xylophone. But maybe that's a different instrument?
Its been 11 years but I still love this video so much and come back here time and time again. Thank you!!!
What I like about Matilda the most (which I like everything about it), but the most is the verse referring to the wrote and the writ.
Johnny Flynn is a boss
They give me chills. I love this band so much! ∆ ∆ ∆ ∆ ∆
you guys are beautiful I'm crying right now
Awesome. The hipsters in the background were a nice touch.
Gorgeous harmonies near the end....
are they tuned down or something? Because this is the best I've heard Joe sing Matilda live. Really is.
I think it might be
I can't believe this, it's so beautiful and people can't appreciate it!
Here in Argentina, people just stop and listen
Amazing, love the band
Parisians are like that, they snub everyone, even people who speaks their language
All Parisians aren't like that, fortunately :)
Thats why your country is a back water shithole and the west is the greatest civilization the world have ever seen. The people are busy.
It's France.... What else would you expect from these people...

Slow to me - 5 years to find alt-j live, fantastic work from guys!
That's incredible. That's where I met and fell in love with my fiancé. We both have tickets to see you next year, can't wait!
Lo Blogotheque, thank you for these amazing videos. Brings out a whole different side of the music that is sooooo refreshing!

love the senior who took a moment to enjoy alt-j during dissolve me, very cool
took those words and bands right out of my head
6:18 - 6:25 I wish the studio version had that part.
Yep but you've got it right here :)
me too! :)
Alas, the beauty of live performances.
It does ! It's just on the track dissolve me as opposed to Matilda
i would die if Alt J would play next to me during my coffee.
I love how the old man in the background sorta stares and stares at them like he was saying "Damn Hippies."
Seeing them in 6 days! Couldn't be more excited.
Matilda! :)
Dissolve Me sounds so precious and fragile :) Love it!
I can't believe how people around them act so natural. They're Alt-J
