This is what I've done and I thought it just made sense, but I think some people think that it "wears out the muscle before working out". I agree with everything he said in this video.
Whatever this guy says I’ll try because he’s one of the greats that are still standing with no injuries and still has muscle esp at his age so obviously whatever he did as a professional worked
@mustang8206 no ytube ad revenue isn't going out of your ass anyway 😂 you talk like you are paying for this video from your pocket. And it's a short so there is no ad either
Three days for muscles to heal. I was switching every other day with little result. Tried his way three day rest and yeap, my biceps got bigger 💪 😅 thanks for the great advice.
What I like about Jay’s advice is that he doesn’t act like everything is set in stone (like basically every fitfluencer out there right now), but just explains what works for him and that you have to try out what works for you. That’s the real takeaway imo and he is living proof of that it works
I remember in high school in the year 2000, Jay Cutler came to the Long Beach California Golds gym where i was working out at, he came as a guest. I asked him how much he can bench press and he said he did 550 on the incline.
Everyone’s body is so different. The incline hammer does very little to activate my chest. Before I bench, it’s always ultra slow push up planks. That really helps isolate.
also the best incline machine is the medx converging incline and the flex fitness leverage incline as a close second. if you don't have machine just do incline dumbbells and go for high reps. its a pita to lift the dumbbells when you get really strong.
Really quick question: I have watched you your whole career, your insight has been profound but I’ve always wandered this question. Specifically this video, most of your movements look very restricted, I don’t see you always using a full range of motion. Is that because of how big you are or is that deliberate to maintain time under tension? Thanks in advance
Agreed. I always do Incline Press one to warm up but two mostly because it’s a harder press that requires a bit more grunt (like shoulder pressing) but yeah I’ll knock out 5-6sets pyramiding up the weight(same as flat) with sometimes one drop set weight for reps.
This seems to be a common trick that a lot of still-healthy legends use. Haney, Arnold, Jay, all did a sort of 'post warm up' move before their compounds
I have the same issue as Jay in that my delts are really strong and they take over from the chest. I got the most growth when I started using the Incline Hammer Strength first. 5 sets of 1x15(light), 1x12(moderate). 3x10-6&RP on LS.
I like both titles. But I think you should go with the first one; the reason is because the second one was used as a title for a movie. Unless the copyright has expired then you could use that one as your title; but, because the movie industry is very sensitive at the moment due to A.I. I think if you go that route you should check first to make sure you wouldn't be infringing on copyright guidelines.
Needed this motivation. I've had so many shoulder issues especially after a car wreck it's really difficult to train chest and shoulders. I used to be able to military press 405 in my 20s so I've definitely had to check my ego at the door. The old Arnold encyclopedia I lived by said free weights were always the best way but you and a few others have helped me cope with my mortality..Thanks Jay. I know you'd win the masters and to be honest I could see you getting the other Sandow of you really wanted it but I know you have NOTHING to prove.
If you use the pre exhaust technique correctly, especially on weaker body parts, you’ll notice improvements in just a few weeks if utilised correctly. Jay is the GOAT when it comes to training smart; 30+ years hard training, only one relatively ‘minor’ injury later in his career. Compare this to the injuries Ronnie and Dorian have gone through. As much as I admire Ronnie for his feats of strength and his achievements, dude is wheelchair bound and can’t walk..
Jay ur my hero bro...always looked up to u bro...bro pls let me know about legs...do them 2x a week I have horrible genetics...I did a show in 2013 n want to do 1 more for my dad....n can u send me an autograph n a shirt lol...JAY U ARE THE LEGEND...U ROCKED IT N UR LEGS ARE CRAZY..I'll never ever watching u do that leg shake n we all were like..WTF..beo u are the man sir
When he says pre exhaust I’d have to be very careful with that if I’m too tired I won’t have the strength to do any heavy lifts. There’s a small window in my workout when I’m at my strongest. early on I’m not warmed up yet but late in the workout I’m too tired so I’ve found that I need to hit my heaviest lifts right in the middle of my workout.
What's wrong with that? You're still fighting gravity. Muscles still have to work. Muscles and tendons only have a certain range of motion. Looks like we found the non-lifter :D
Really been struggling with shoulder pain left and right I believe I haven’t been warming up enough or properly I do 25 push-ups 2x with some 10lb shoulder movements and some stretches. But then I Jump Into 60lb db press or a heavy Bench. And it’s still hurting might haft to really get a sweat going before I hit the heavier weight
Im from his backyard on the East , the soldier, really appreciates Mr. Olympia, but there are not 1 million videos of Jay Cutler out there. There’s duplicates of his videos but there’s not 1 million or is there?
Can be better mind/muscle connection, focusing on the targeted muscle. It's very good to do. You don't need to go 100% all the way full range...that's actually dangerous because you can tear your muscle that way, stretching it to the limit especially if you're trying to go heavy. It's mainly for focus on the muscle itself. Bodybuilders benefit more from it compared to say power lifters or strong men competitors.
The motivation I needed during Leg Day
😂
😂
Goodluck brother! ✊🏽

Everybody is different..why you have to find what works best for you..but warming up is one thing everyone should do
Its why bodybuilding is so great. There is no set way how do something. Got find ur own way
True hes the only one still lookin good no injuries at all.
@@jimmyleepatterson1305only one? Uhh does Lee Haney ring any bells?
His genetics play a lot into that too. Our genetics determine how predisposed we are to injury and muscle growth
I’m finding all your advice super useful. Thanks heaps dude!
This would be a $250 seminar 40 years ago.

Thx Jay, you the best teacher. I learn so much from you.
FELICITACIONES MAESTRO DIOS LO BENDIGA
Jay out there doin’ the Lord’s work
We still have this man today cherish him! ❤
Pretty gay thing to say.
Awesome advice, thanks for sharing
That’s my favorite machine for chest. So smooth and effective.
Yes i use that for my warm up but also for my failure sets . I dont really see any advantages to using anything else .
Great stuff. Thanks Jay

Thank you!!
Thank you for giving valuable information back to us
Three days for muscles to heal. I was switching every other day with little result. Tried his way three day rest and yeap, my biceps got bigger 💪 😅 thanks for the great advice.
Solid tips. I always start with 3 sets of light weight cable flys to get the blood flowing. 5 minutes of warm up beats 6 weeks of pec or bicep injury.
Thanks Jay appreciate the insight
I agree about doing pre exhaust to warm up especially for chest, just incline hammer is not for me. I prefer to start with pec dec or flat machine
Jay you are the fuckin man!
Jay says jump I say how high💪🏾💪🏾
Thanks! This makes sense.
Always a different way to build a chest or any body part thanks Champ keep banging 👏👏👏👏👏👏
If Jay says it, then so shall it be 💪

Free notes from a King!
I will surely add this in my leg workout thanks jay 🤝🥰
Interesting! Might not work great for natural lifters though... From my understanding being enhanced assists greatly with endurance.
Everyone’s body is so different. The incline hammer does very little to activate my chest. Before I bench, it’s always ultra slow push up planks. That really helps isolate.
If only my local gym had half the equipment as Jay's gym...
Even planet fitness has these bro.

I do this too before jumping into heavy BB/DB incline presses. People forget the feel for the chest before they actually jump into heavy working sets.
Go Jay!
Thanks Jay

Jay, you’re my favorite bodybuilder. After Arnold, you were the first that I met. Your tips are always good! Hug!
Lol I'd good tipper . This guy is so chill not macho at all . Make him more attractive 😍 😏 😘 😉
That incline hammer machine blasts them chesticles

The incline hammer always caused me shoulder pain.
You might have the seat too low.
❤❤❤❤❤ HIM!!!!!❤
Very truth, I do it as a warm out . The same for my leg
Decline cable press or decline dumbbell press that's all u ever need for the whole chest
Legend stil got it 🔥💥🤩
How much protein do you eat in a day ? And do you eat more or less less protein on off days 🤔

Hammer Press is my favorite go to. Inclined and Flat. Hello from Canada
Hammer press? Is that a soupinated hand position during bench?
@@juniorramirez3858 hammer is a patented brand of weight machines
@Junior Ramirez what I've noticed is that the hand position let's you go from a full open grip down to a great muscle flex at the finished position
@@staceduliban7422 i also like the hammer machines because you can alternate arms or do one arm at a time if the other is hurt or something
@Watcher ya they're great for isolation
I'll try it out! I actually ended with incline hammer today haha.

Jay thoughts on reverse incline bench? (I use a smith machine for it)
Reverse incline? What is this, Mike O Hearn's video? If you feel comfortable with it, just continue to do the exercise.
Anyone notice that Jay never locks out or fully extends on all his movements? Guys friggin huge and half reps everything!
#genetics
genetics and drugs
Literally bro it's in every vid
Always feels too tricepy for me. I found a good seat setting on my last bull but that was a different gym :(
Free exhaust before you go into the heavy movements. Yeah cause that makes sense.
Jay! How do you keep such a defined chin and neck? When the muscles around are huge?
I have to work myself up to 2 biscuits on incline hammer and jay is using it to warm up 🤣
Will give it a go
Im from his backyard on the East , the soldier, really appreciates Mr. Olympia, but there are not 1 million videos of Jay Cutler out there. There’s duplicates of his videos but there’s not 1 million or is there?
Damn I do it backwards finish wit flys last but ill def try this way
Great machine hammer
Best Jay 🫡👏💪
I'm not the only one. Yes hammer 🔨
I always did 4x20 pushups before i started with chest machines and free weights.
commenting so i can go back to this reel
I used to get the best pumps using this. I absolutely agree with you.
My favorite love that
Ok can you explain resistance bands. I got 2, 70 pounds bands. And I'm curious what does it actually build, Just strength?
Every single chest exercise triggers those things you are talking Jay, don’t sugar coat 😂
You only need to pre exhaust if your repping 3+ plates which I'm sure he easily does but beginners don't.
I have hurt shoulders. I'm gonna try this
Same bro
Genuine question: why the partial reps?
