Which one should I buy? Difficult decision? ASUS ROG Swift Pro PG248QP 540hz vs BenQ Zowie XL2586X 540hz I have read comments that the Asus is better but I have also read that it is very bad.
Ty for the review. Not sure if the review is correct on dsc. zowie never confirmed dcs is disabled with hdmi 2.1. For example you cannot make custom resolutions on 540hz hdmi 2.1. And there is no option to disable it.
Brother I have a question, I have an acer 540hz and an xl2566k, the acer panel seems to be a bit grainy and I can see the pixels more, it's very strange. As the panel is the same used by the Asus 540hz and the Zowie 540 I would like to know if you noticed this in these models too. In relation to the Zowie and the Asus, did you notice any difference in this aspect? I have a better visual sensation with my 360hz Zowie than with the 540hz Acer, although the colors are better on the Acer
You're the first one I've seen to talk about hdmi vs dp on this monitor, kinda stupid of Zowie not to include DP2 for the required bandwidth. Actually, 1080p 540hz should require around the same bandwidth as a 4k 80hz, so it's weird that we even have 4k 240hz with flawless display stream compression while the one in this sucks? Maybe the compression hardware isn't fast enough to keep up with frametimes?
I have a feeling its got to do with the speed of compression , since on 540hz there is simply less time between each frame to decompress the data than on 240hz etc. not to mention they might make the decompression value speed over quality in this particular monitor to prevent excessive input lag. As for dp2.0, i have a feeling thats an OEM limitation as the asus doesnt have it either. At least hdmi 2.1 works well
Oh and btw the asus can only use ulmb2 w the displayport and seems like it has the same poor contrast as the zowie when using it, so another win for dyac 2
Yup lol. Its crazy how so many chips cant push good frames in CS2. I had very similar specs (3080, 10700k, 3000mhz ram) and was getting the same performance. Moved to the AM5 platform with ddr5 6000mhz and the 7800x3d processor. And now getting 600 fps. Its kinda crazy, I know 10th gen isn't new from intel, but the 10700k was good, now apparently it cant even hit my refresh rate in counter strike lol.
you're the only reviewer that mentioned the dsc on display port past 240hz- thank you for that- i run a 390hz monitor and usually play above 240fps- now i need to go check if i'm using an hdmi or dp cable :)
to be fair it kinda makes sense for ulmb 2 to be only compatible with 30 series rtx cards and up just because im sure they ensure the most possible frames to take advantage of ulmb. i get ur point on it being a bummer for only supporting nvidia cards tho. but it definitely makes sense for a 30 series card minimum. it's a shame i found out later after buying my asus pg27aqn that you would need to a card that can support ulmb. im still on a gtx 1080 ti ftw 3 which honestly is still going strong today and on average i get 250-300 fps on valorant for example. i was disappointed to learn that my card wouldnt support the technology in the panel, even worse my computer wont even let me go to 360hz and take advantage of it. im definitely still excited to upgrade my pc soon so i can really test how good ulmb 2 is in comparison to dyac 2
the issue though is that games where you want ULMB2 the most are often so easy to run, that you can often get 360+ 540+ FPS on an Older card with a good enough CPU.
@@ZXTech well my problem is that my 1080ti doesn't support dsc (display stream compression) which is required to get refresh rate above 240 @qhd. Only 20 series and above (including the 1660 series) support dsc. on my monitor end, it caps at 240 hz and i cant seem to go higher. because of that i cant even use ulmb 2 without my monitor being on 360hz first. a newer gpu is the long story short. my cpu is also fairly old, i7 8700k so honestly older systems cant even benefit dyac or ulmb even if they can manage to hit the target refresh rates
If you could choose between the Asus and the Zowie which one would you go with? I was able to test the Acer 540hz (I currently have a 2566k), in fact the monitor is more responsive, but the black eq, the color vibration and the sharpness of the Zowie monitors make a lot of difference in visibility. Brightness with dyac is higher than vrb on the acer. Ended up keeping the 2566k anyway feeling that the monitor is slower. the 2586x is not yet available in my country
@@ZXTechHey i never told you this and you never saw my comment and you wont do this but theres safe and trusted scripts using .bats that actually activate windows and if you dont want to activate windows, you can remove the restrictions
If ur using AMD, the built in stand and not a monitor arm, dont like software enabled ULMB2, or dont like the size of asus get zowie. If not get the cheaper one. Tho tbh u shd wait for OLED unless u r trying to be an elite level competitor/esports athlete/ streamer today.
You do your research buddy, its not a simple rule like DP is always better than HDMI. The HDMI that this monitor has supports larger data pass theoughthan its DP port, causing the DP to look worse. Maybe pay attention
how can you even recommend an lcd panel these days, they dont even compare to oled even for e spoorts, hope they paid you well for this video is the only way i can thin k of. do your homework
In the video, I mentioned the elephant in the room of OLED and its advantages making the LCD a much harder sell. However, I went on to also explain the possible LCD advantages from the perspective of the target audience, aka ESPORTS PROs, why LCD is possibly a better choice for now until OLED is proven to be hyper reliable. I didnt recommend it to the average buyer - only the competitors who want the fastest machine using a reliable technology- like someone wanting to use a super sharp knife, rather than a lightsaber that is not fully proven yet. If you watch it again I think you can see what I was getting at. I guess the recommendation of the 2546x or 2566k might also be what u r referring to, and frankly my justification for that is that there is a crowd of people who rather that reliable formula of LCDs from zowie who would not buy OLEDs even though I agree its better for normal users, so for that audience Ill much rather them buy the more sensible 240s and 360s. Also, if you watch the slowmo tests between OLED 360 and tn 540, the TN panels w ULMB2 and DYAC still have a slight edge in clarity(not to mention more frames) and will likely keep that until Black Frame Insertion arrives. i did do my homework lmao.
I like the rainy windows. That must be such a mood to play on a rainy gloomy day.
