    I always learn something when I watch your videos. I never thought about "black don't crack" that way before. I used that phrase as a leg up on racism but now I see how I've been a blind proponent. Honestly 10/10. You have such a fresh perspective and you speak your mind. You are very good at what you do; you give me a lot to think about.

    Bravo👏! I agree with you on this topic. Black does crack no matter how much we want to believe it doesn't especially in side where people can't see. I am a older woman who models and I cheer on the beautiful young models in my circle. Many young enough to be my children. They give me much respect not only because of my age but because I am not trying to be young I'm perfectly fine with who I am. I have nothing left to prove. What many don't understand is with age comes a different type of beauty. The beauty of confidence, being able to stand in the middle of your life and look backwards and laugh at some of the dumb things you did, your accomplishments and accepting your flaws. Being able to look forward to the things you want to achieve and turning around when you find yourself on a dead end. I embrace my age and I pray I live much longer✌.

    The reason middle-aged men can be sex symbols is because, in American society, a man's status/power/wealth take precedence over his appearance. Those qualities often improve with age. Whereas for women appearance is the primary rubric against which judgement takes place. It's why rich older men with attractive young women are common, but rich older women with young studs is barely a thing.
    People argue whether it's nature or nurture, but even if we knew the answer to that question I doubt every person would suddenly be reprogrammed accordingly. It is what it is, for now.

      Sarah Smith: Precisely. Misogyny is what has Jennifer Lawrenceville playing a child in "Hunger Games" while that same year being cast as Bradley Cooper's love interest in a romantic movie. Gross. She was barely 21 and he was pushing 40. One of dozens of examples of Hollywood misogyny/misognoir

    • @d0m2288
      @d0m2288 7 років тому +3

      Sarah Smith While I don't entirely disagree, your explanation only accounts for media. When I left my comment I was also considering real life where, again, it's not unusual to see young women choose older men, but the reverse is much less common. My explanation addresses that trend, misogyny in Hollywood does not.

    Never thought about this subject to be honest but you do bring up good points. Society puts so much pressure on women to remain youthful looking but not men. And for a lot of black women the stress of living in unfair circumstances will also age us so we use the "Black don't crack" term as a crutch. Thankfully I embrace getting older, and my hope is that with my age comes more wisdom.

      you can blame a guy for a dad bod because that's preventable. but you can't really hold loss of hair against someone as it's mostly genetic and not their fault. they do much about it.
      young 16 year old girls mostly care about a guy's appearance, and as they get older they don't care so much and want a man who will treat them a certain way and provide. peace.

      I don’t feel she was ever arguing against this because it’s saying you’re better than everyone else. It can just be harmful to other black people. Like I ended up here because I saw a picture of Raven Simone with the caption ‘Black DOES Crack’, which, she looks like a pretty attractive 30-something black woman. And I feel like because of her (p dumb) opinions, this phrase was ruthlessly turned against her, even though ‘cracking’ is 100% subjective. They took their dislike of her words and ideas and attacked her for her looks, and the fact that there is an idea of ‘blacks don’t crack’ means she’s basically being singled out as the ONE who aged poorly, even if that’s not true.

Take in consideration all the stress associated with black life in and out the black community..As far as Hollywood, white men, mostly of J. Ish decent run it, control it.
