    Nothing you said was really wrong, just some finer points:
    Set tank heater to 70°. They will live twice as long. If your house is a stable 70°-ish, no heater is needed. They will breed faster in tropical temps, but they will also die faster.
    Only feed once a day. If you have a planted tank with a thriving eco system, you can cut back to feeding twice a week. Over feeding is #1 cause of death.
    Great video

    Do you remember? I added new fish to my tank after 2 weeks of quarantine, and then they all died. Now I know what caused it. I had just changed the water, and in the Netherlands you have to add Aqua safe to neutralize certain chemicals in the tap water. But I used a little too much of it, and then it was like poison...

    • @Aquafinity
      @Aquafinity  5 місяців тому

      interesting, here where I live we need to use a dechlorinator to remove the chlorine in the water. I've never thought about water from other countries or the neutralization methods, but glad you figured it out.

    My LFS prefers the guppy/endler cross. They tend to be healthier and more color variety and tail shapes.

      I have crossbred multiple endlers and guppies in the past, and for me, some of them would inherit the healthier endler genes while others would follow the guppies. Interesting stuff!

    I bought new fish, and 2 weeks later I put them in my community tank. According to the trader, 2 weeks of quarantine was a long time. But within 1 day all the fish became critically ill and I had to start over.
    Therefore this question: how long should you quarantine new guppies? One month? Half a year?

    • @Aquafinity
      @Aquafinity  5 місяців тому

      I don't think your case is a matter of quarantining, guppies typically are okay with very little quarantining unless they're noticeably sick. It might be due to some disease or an issue with the tank, but usually little to do with the quarantine process itself. So I would figure out the exact symptoms your fish are displaying and try to research how to fix them. Hope this helps!

      There are always sick animals in pet stores in the Netherlands. So you buy fish that you are almost certain are contaminated. That's a different situation than in your country, I suspect. Traders in your country will not sell fish if there are sick animals in the same tank. But in the Netherlands you are almost guaranteed to buy sick animals. So quarantine is really necessary. But how long? You don't know that either?

    Keeping Endlers with my Gambusia, they seem to really like each other ❤
    *No, they cannot hybridize, they're 2 different Genus and their bits are not compatible. I did much research on this. 😅

    Why you should let young males and females grow up separately.
    You can separate young guppies 2 weeks after birth: the females already have a dark spot on their belly that pregnant females also have. If you do not separate the sexes, males can fertilize females at a very young age. And once they mature, the females will immediately become pregnant. And then you get a huge bulge. Then suddenly you are a millionaire... Millions of guppies...
    Females that grow up virginally for five months grow larger and have more young per female, if you let them be mated by the male you want young from
