To explain further the new ArteNOM 1123 Blanco called 'Histórico', is rested for 28 days in recently dumped Reposado and Anejo Mezcal barrels (emptied for bottling and shipped while still wet inside) and quickly filled with fresh Cascahuín Blanco. This is a “throw-back” tequila, harkening to the pre-fascination with highland, high-Brix agave, when the luxury version of blancos, was just barrel conditioned for some softening, without clobbering with tons of oak. These barrels from Jakes mezcal operation, and are used Mexican brandy barrels from Domecq, so more historically accurate than using either used french oak or used American whiskey barrels. This is going to be unique for today, and I can't wait to try it
I just get a bottle last week of the ArteNOM 1123 and Its really good, kind of the Cascahuin Tahona but with an extra character. Really good!

Lou I love your reviews but when I see that many bottles on the table it just screams that the distributor or company sent those to you.
You must have me mixed up with some of the other 'influencers'. I hate that word, and I am not part of them. I am proud to say, not one bottle came from anywhere..., other than from the money in my own pocket

Hi neighbor. ArteNOM is likely not to be in any large type store, like Bottle Bargains, probably not even the Wine Guy where you are, but maybe try Total Wine in Westbury. My guess would be, your best shot would be a small boutique type liquor store. I think there's one is Stonybrook near Lowe's. You can ask them to order from the 'big book', which is what it's called. If they deal with that distributor, they can likely order it. Of course you can go online. I would think maybe Zee's Old Town tequila Superstore in San Diego or possibly Sip Tequila may have it.

I feel ripped off. Ok, that's an overstatement and not accurate, but hear me out: I picked up 1146 this week, opened it and enjoy it, but not to the extent I thought I should. And, that's ok because it's a fine product, just not what I expected. However, I also bought Fuenteseca 8 year and cracked it open tonight and I get many similar notes from it that I got from the 1146. This is where I feel ripped off. I'm drinking two tequilas from the same NOM, similar profiles, but with a $200 difference in price. I need to drink these again in a few days to verify my suspicions. Do you have any thoughts on this?
The only thing I could say is if you came from bourbon/whiskey... you should like the 1146. I must admit, I just picked up two bottles and it's a lot darker and richer looking, and the alcohol level went up, over previous batches, so I wonder what that's about. I wrote to the company, and I'm waiting to hear from them. I mean I love the 1146, but I also love Azunia 'black', as my 'go to' anejos. I've only had a little of the long aged Fuenteseca's, in the past, and I thought it was okay, but too pricey for the taste. Maybe you should try an experiment, and move up to extra anejo and see if you like the extra richness and the different levels of taste, better there. You should try (if you haven't already), Tapatio Excelencia, Tears of Llorona and Siete Leguas D'Antaño. Then if that doesn't work, do an about-face, and possibly go down to a Reposado. Maybe you don't like so much of the barrel notes, as you may have thought you would. Give it another chance first, alwways let them open up. Stay in touch.
@@longislandloutequila7208 I felt that extra heat, too. I never drank except the occasional beer/wine but picked up tequila about 20-25 years ago when we moved to AZ and it's the only spirit I drink. They're both quality products for sure, but, they're not bowling me over. I will gladly sip them with friends, do the Jedi mind trick and make them believe I'm sharing the best stuff on earth with only my closest and dearest friends. and leave it at that. I have Tapatio and Tears on my shelf and love both. Incidentally, the same night I opened the aforementioned 1146/F8yr, I also opened a Siete Leagues repo for the first time and THAT lived up to all expectations. So damn good. Keep us informed of all things agave. When you gonna do a podcast with Doug Price?
@@lik2bik - yes Siete Leguas is absolutely amazing. I love that brand, and I just got back from visiting them. That's a high-quality tequila. I understand now that you're extremely experienced in all this, and that's great. It is weird on the price difference and how you felt on those two. BTW- I'm not too sure about any podcasts or anything.. it's usually not my thing at this time. Stay in touch buddy
