Thanks Lou! I have the # 9 XA and a #9 Single Barrel repo. Both are 2 of the best XA and repo I ever had. After this review, I feel more confident in purchasing the #7 repo and #7 anejo now!!
where the heck did you manage to find the No. 9 Extra Añejo?? i have recently gotten into the art of tequila tasting, and am obsess with finding a bottle of that.. can't find any in Texas. WTF.
If you're asking if this Cazcanes Reposado is better than a Forrester Reposado, I'd have to say no.. but by a hair. I think Fortaleza Reposado is the best Reposado made, along with Ocho Widow Jane. I have no idea where you going to buy Fortaleza anejo. I guess I would try online, if you don't know any places by you that would have it, you could try a Total Wine or Specs of they are near you.
Just curious Lou, how many points did u deduct for value? Seems like with autoclave, roller, and no copper in the distillation that the price should be closer to other top products from ur lists or maybe even lower by a little?
There's no set rule, but like me and Greg mentioned in the review, we would have rated them probably about 90 for both products, instead of 88, because of the high prices. To me, although I agree that I prefer oven, tahona and copper.. I don't automatically deduct because of not having that. I mostly go by the nose, taste and perceived quality of a product, but I do have to keep my eye on the price, and in this case it probably cost them two points for that.
I wish for each one of these newer great ones , you also go and review a golden oldie , like a vintage Cazadores, vintage Cabo Wabo , etc . You can’t take it with you 😮
Not too many no. Try Total Wine in Westbury or some small boutique liquor stores, but I'd call ahead of time to see if they have what you're looking for. There's a small shop up here in Northport on fort Salonga road called Northport Wine and Spirits.. which is pretty good
Im finding El Tesoro Extra Anejo for 100$ and Cazcanes Anejo for 120-130$ but never drank either. Would you reach for the XA for less or the Anejo for more?
Thanks for the review Lou. This one has been on my wish list radar for a little while. How do you know what lots are being sold at Old Town? I can't seem to find any lot information and would like to try the lots you mentioned. Thanks again!
You'd have to call them up and ask them if they have time to look at the back of the bottles, but I don't know the difference. You can contact the brand at that point and ask what's specific about that lot, or you could look on TMM. Most of the good reviewers list the lot number for a brand like this when they review it. I know I probably would have liked last year's Lots, even more, as I read on TMM that they seemed to be slightly malolactic with a lot of cheese flavors in it, which is pretty cool. It must have been more similar to their Joven.
Because that's a treasure bottle from way back when. You can't get much better juice than that. It is absolutely delicious. It just goes to show how far a brand can fall
Not sure, but keep in mind that Cazcanes #9 Repo is 100 proof, and the #7 is 80 proof. The ET is 80 proof, and maybe because it's tahona crushed and the Cazaones is not, could be why.
Very interesting . I wish I could find these great tequilas , but nowhere in my big city . Heck it was big just to get Fortaleza, G4, Ocho . Sadly , same is true for most of these you review . Unless I take the mail order route which won’t do . So I can only dream . I wish I had your access and stash . I sure wish there was better distribution and desire to sell .
Cazcanes has a great team behind them, and they are making some innovative tequilas that totally burst with flavor.
Yes they do, and yes they are my friend
Edwin n jp doing a great job long time friends
Was gifted a bottle of the Anejo for Father's Day by by son and we really enjoyed this tequila!
i like the way you put it Lou 'micro-manage everything', very important in the small batch agave world! thanks for the reviews!
just picked up the No. 7 Reposado. wow, buttery hint of woody goodness.
Where?? Who Carries it?

From whatever recall, I bought it off my friend, who got it from his distributor, since he owns a restaurant
Wow, this is a brand I have on my wish list. Hopefully, soon I can taste them.
Better than fortaleza?? And where can o buy a fortaleza añejo my brothers birthday is in two weeks 🎉😂

They're both great, but I'd probably go for the ET at this time, but I would try them both eventually.
@@longislandloutequila7208 thanks Lou 👍

We met the moonshine man in the jungle, great brand
why do you have a bottle of El Jimador on your top shelf???
Because that's a treasure bottle from way back when. You can't get much better juice than that. It is absolutely delicious. It just goes to show how far a brand can fall
Hey Lou why does Cazcanes reposado burn much more than El tesoro anejo, Tesoro is sooo much smoother than cascanes repo
