    I'm looking to attend this year for the first time and this video was incredibly helpful. Thank you. I'm just pursuing my license so I will not be flying in, but there's quite a bit of helpful information you shared here for any visitor. Great stuff. Thanks again.

    Thank you for sharing the info in both vids. Keep up the good work. Sorry that OSH is cancelled this year but let's look forward to a super year in 2021. For those folk who think camping on the line is too noisy for them, the UofW is a fantastic option. Been there twice myself, camping once when I was a bit younger (!) in the North 40 and it was amazing.

      Very much looking forward to next year and really hoping our RV-10 will be finished so we can fly it up there 😁

    I think you pretty much covered everything. Oh!! If you bring a handheld radio to listen to the tower, or Airshow Boss, Make sure you don't have a stuck, or open mic. A moderate complaint each year, not to mention distracting and dangerous during the airshow, is someone having a stuck, or open mic. People accidentally sits on their radio. They might put it in their backpack. Various examples. But there are usually a few cases per day, someone around the grounds has a stuck, or open mic. I would suggest a radio without one. It makes atc, and the show boss' job a little easier. I don't remember if you mentioned a flashlight. Probably more towards those in Camp Scholler, and Warbird camping than the North 40, South 40, and Homebuilts. Incase you have to get up in the middle of the night to go use.the bathroom, there are quite a few tents, and tent tie-down strings you can avoid with a flashlight. Stay hydrated. The first aid/medical stations usually have cases of heat stroke, and dehydration. There are Doctors, and Nurses in a few different medical buildings around the grounds, just incase.

    I'm glad you mentioned "bug spray." Last summer, we camped at Camp Scholler with our EAA Chapter plot. (43°58'27.0"N 88°33'58.8"W) We didn't bring any bug spray, and mosquitos had us for their own Thanksgiving dinner. It was AWFUL, especially in the evening. Also, if you have someone in your party who can't walk very well, bring or rent some wheeled transportation for him/her. Even a wheel chair. If I had brought one for my wife, we could have seen twice as much, as she could not walk very fast at all (We're in our 60s). Remember also that if you don't want to cook, that is great, but the concessions are very pricy. Also can't emphasize enough the water, sunglasses, and a hat. Enjoy.

      Yep! The time before last year, when the Mosquitoes were horrible, was Sloshkosh 2010.

    Love this video series. Can’t wait to get back to Oshkosh! I never used my cooking gear when I went out either. I found bringing a blanket beneficial, for more warmth or padding. Good stuff in this video!

    Thanks for this series. We are going to OSH for the first time in July and these were very helpful. We are doing the mass Cessna arrival which may be a more fun T-shirt that the Fisk Arrival one. ;-)

    During the T-Storm a couple days ago. I saw people wrapping theirs birds to protect them from the hail storm and the King Air they were tying mattresses on the bird too. Wow.....don’t blame any f them in trying to protect theirs birds...whatever it takes.

    Great information! How is security? If you leave stuff in your tent, will it still be there when you get back?

      Thank you 😊 We didn't have any issues when camping in the north 40. Anything we were concerned about we just locked in the plane or took with us.

    I so appreciate your Oshkosh camping videos. I have a 182 and just got a tent as big as the one you upgraded to. I'm trying to figure out the best way to orient it this year with regard to the plane. Did you have any second thoughts about setting it up right behind the trailing edge of the wing? Did the rain pool around the tent or anything? Thanks.

    • @PlaneLady
      @PlaneLady  2 роки тому +1

      I’m glad you like my videos 😊 I think we’d set the tent up the same way again - behind the leading edge with the vestibule in the back. No problems with rain looking around the tent but bring some heavy duty tarp to put underneath. That’s what we have done. Just better safe than sorry - no one wants to wake up with themselves and all their stuff soaked 😬

    • @cynthiak3376
      @cynthiak3376 Рік тому

      @@PlaneLady Christine, is the parking/tie down area fairly flat? I am thinking a your sized tent even though I'm solo - I was thinking about the vestibule under the trailing edge - or under the wing if that is possible.But if there is a ground slope - that will govern direction. I'll bring a blue a tarp (check) - just me in the aircraft (C-172) so I should be fine with weight and balance with a larger tent. ALSO as to a cooler - I get Omaha Steaks and they are shipped in a dandy styrofoam cooler that insulates well and is very light. I'm going to make an actual check list so I don't forget something. Here we go! You are VERY helpful! Thank you!!

    great videos, keep them coming. One quick question, what do you use for your audio and video equipment? We fly our c172B into Oshkosh Wednesday and depart Sunday AM. Flying in mid-week often times avoids the pre-Oshkosh rush and because we park in vintage, space is always available.

      Nice! We’re looking forward to the day we get to camp in homebuilt 😉 so much closer to everything. We always end up spending at least one night in Green Bay while trying to get there the weekend before everything starts. Last year was truly crazy - the hotel had everyone shelter in the basement during the tornado warning.
      I used to use a GoPro Hero 3 to film our build but now have a GoPro 8 from Santa 😉 and used my iPhone to film this video. And this is the microphone I use for the voiceovers:

      @@PlaneLady Thank you for the prompt response, and yes you answered my question. EAA Chapter 2 and our FBO at KMSD host a 'What do you need' event to inform 1st time pilots what to bring and expect for the Ripon/Fiske arrival into AirVenture. Keep the videos coming and happy building.

      What a great event for y’all to put on for first time AirVenture folks! Would love to know if y’all discuss something that I didn’t mention in either of my videos 😊

    • @pngcustomwoodworks3499
      @pngcustomwoodworks3499 4 роки тому

      @@PlaneLady Actually you covered the 'what to bring' very well...It's always difficult to create a fits-all list that covers all of the bases. Your approach where you describe your experiences, good and bad establishes a base line for others to follow or adapt for their needs. Small personal items, toiletries and medications are items that are easily forgotten.

    1) what is the humidity like there, example over here in Philadelphia it is like 90% humidity all summer! Can stand it! 2)Is there Temporary UPS stores? What about tagging your items...What about cell phone service? If someone is RVing Can they connect to a residential WiFi? "Plus tipping them"

    • @PlaneLady
      @PlaneLady  2 роки тому

      Humidity isn’t bad (we’re used to Houston weather). No clue about UPS. Cell phone service is pretty good but sometimes is a little spotty. Not sure about RVing but there’s RV campground space in Scholler and there’s also other RV campground space in the surrounding area immediately adjacent to the grounds - you should be able to find them by looking around the area on Google maps.
