Update: As of July 2023, the rules for the Any% QS/QL category have changed. Load times when saving/loading are no longer removed, only the initial load of each level. As such, my official leaderboard time has been updated from 51m 25s to 53m 02s.
Staying undetected is one thing, but being a blur is the next best right? I hope you found all this speedrunning stuff interesting. Check out my full run and Distro, the guy who actually knows what he's doing.

    Hey, CriticalNobody!
This video turned out amazing. It was really fun seeing you speedrun speedrunning the game. Your final time is definitely one to be proud of!
I also appreciate everything you had to say about the speedrunning community in general. It makes me happy when Splinter Cell speedruns are shown some love and support, especially because the community is very small. It means a lot to us, so thank you!
I watched all of the video. It was great and I wish you the best of luck on your future projects! :)

    Hey Craig!
Primarily, I must admit that this video was enjoyable from start to finish! Secondly, biggest congratulations on achieving a respectable CT time since you had planned to challenge yourself in running the game for just one week! In my opinion, this is by far the easiest game to learn (and run) from the trilogy, not sure about the entire series though...might be. Speedrunning sure gets frustrating and tiring in the long term, therefore, I appreciate the fact that you want to take a break from it and leave off with your 51-minute run, which is something.
Even though our speedrunning community is quite small, it is always nice to hear some good works from anyone really and we appreciate that you had plenty of pleasant things to say about it :) It truly does mean a lot to us, especially to Distro! Also enjoyed the streams where you had practiced everything in CT, despite me lurking and all. But it sure was enjoyable!
Best of luck in your future endeavors and if you redecide, at one point in time (even though it's quite unlikely so) to come back to speedrunning (not just CT, but any of the SC games really), you're always welcome in our community! :)

    Casual gaming fan here.
I must say I have a ton of appreciation for your vocabulary and delivery of the narration.
I know, a bit of a weird compliment but it really is refreshing to hear for me, can't say I've heard it on some of the other channels.
Again, I'm a causal fan so I may not have explored the gamer/streamer world as thoroughly as some, but other channels usually have that "watchmojo" or your regular "no script/twitch stream" delivery. (Discluding the clips of actual streams ofc 😆)
Along with the technical stuff, such as editing, being concise etc. your overall dedication is much appreciated, keep up the excellent work! 👍🏻

This is why i never want to touch speedrunning. It can totally obliterate your enjoyment of some of your favorite games. Best case scenario, you never really can experience the game the intended way again, because you have become extremely aware of every single shortcoming, bug, piece of funny dialog. Basically, shattering your immersion forever.

This video reminds me when back in the day I used to do challenge runs on Ace Combat 5 just because I finished far too many times. Things like trying to use the worst planes possible, just using guns and other things are really fun when you enjoy the game a lot. Granted, challenge runs on Ace Combat 4 are much better since pretty much every mission is a score attack so using the godawful F-4 during the whole game can be borderline maddening although I never tried that (that game o Ace was already hard enough, even the start of the game could be a pain sometimes, and no, the only correct way for a challenge run on Ace Combat is to play on the hardest difficulty).

I was trying to learn 100% for a full game run of CT a couple years ago and have also been following your channel for a couple years as well. Between this video and showing SC1 to a friend of mine recently I think I'm gonna get back at chipping at it. As I said then, SOMEONE'S gotta do 100%, might as well be me (and I wanted that prestigious first anyways lol). QS/QL being banned before I showed on the scene made it hell, but it shouldn't be too bad now that there's a category that allows for it... at least until I start trying for no QS/QL again. I'll sort out a streaming setup just as soon as I retake my 100% record for the displace IL.

If you want more potential Splinter Cell content to cover, I'd suggest looking at the novels for the series, as they tend to have a completely different way the game's plot would be adapted... Speedrunning seems fun. Until you have to beat your own PB and spend months at a plateau trying to shave off 10 seconds for WR. 😅

I did some speedrunning for thief deadly shadows and I regretted it. I can never play that game as a stealth game anymore. It’s boring. Did some for Hitman Contracts; that game can be played in multiple styles and it’s still fun. As for chaos theory, that game is very addictive although I don’t speedrun it. I like to play on expert in all levels to ensure the game is at its most realistic.

I totally get it. I speedran Dishonored 1 a long time ago, and unlike SC's speedrunning, it has a lot tricks that are high framerate dependent, and I was trying to run it with a PC that could barely manage playing and recording/streaming at the same time.
I had loved Dishonored 1, was far from the best or most knowledgable player, but I still got a time of 1 hour and 7 minutes.
    The bottom of the leaderboard.
Like yourself, I was... dissatisfied, and kept going until I got a lovely 46 minute run that I was satisfied with, even if all the world record runs were down to something like 33 minutes at the time.
Speedrunning is one of those self-fulfilling things, where you can really prove to yourself that practice really does make you harder, better, faster, and stronger in lots of different skillsets.

It's tempting to do this if for no other reason than to make a video and have an excuse to say "I achieved... this run"

Talking about how people have been speedrunning games pretty much since games have been around is absolutely true. My mom has been consistently speedrunning solitaire since 1990 on Windows 3.0. She scoffs in the face of RNG.

To everyone whose interested: Theres a new runner on the block. NewtKnut started running Chaos Theory as a result of this video, and is now second place on the leaderboards. Make sure to check out his streams if you´re interested.
