  • I wanted to get my mother a traditional style home phone that either off her prepaid cell number. I found for a fantastic solution with the Panasonic Link2Cell Bluetooth cordless phone system. An inexpensive and highly customizable solution!

    Hello!....Are you sure the answering machine will pick up on incoming cell calls? The owners manual states that the answering machine function is disabled on cell calls. Do you have the cell only feature turned on? Thanks for the video!

    Hi, I just bought one of these systems (another brand), and I know you don't have to have a landline to use it, but do you still have to plug the main phone into a phone jack, or just a power outlet?

    • @aichangesit
      @aichangesit  2 роки тому +2

      I can only speak to the system that I have, but on that it does need power. I don't have anything plugged into the phone jack, but I did have to find a setting in the menus for the phone that turned off the "no phone line" message mine was showing.

    I am wondering, how long have you been using a setup like this? and How reliable has your bluetooth connection been? As this is exactly how I am planning to port out my parents landline to cheap cellphone plan as they want to keep the number. Does bluetooth reconnect fast without issues after a power outage and such?
    One of the PRO are smartphone can have unlimited amount of call block list, where as Panasonic or other brands can only hold limited amount. Plus there are landline handset units have those spam call block features where you would need to press a random or set # to get through.

      I've been using this same kind of set up for over a year, and it works great and saves a lot of money, but you must keep the cell phone right next to the cordless phone base at all times so there is no interference between the cell phone and the cordless phone base. Also, keep anything that might interfere with the signal as far away from the base as possible. For example, a microwave oven, or CFL light, etc., should not be anywhere near the base. Yes, bluetooth does reconnect fast after the power comes back on. You can use the Google Phone app on your smartphone which will block almost all scam calls, so they will never get through to your cordless phone.

    • @xxgg
      @xxgg Рік тому

      @@koreyb Yes, I was thinking of same thing as Google Phone have good blocking features compare to standalone phones with block feature. Than again I have noticed some home phones feature call block or call filter where caller must press a # between 0 to 9 for call to go through unlesss whitelisted. My issue with that is not sure how that would work for automated phones calls my parents get once every few months from hospital, either to remind appointment or asking to call back to book one. Seems certain hospital or department use automated calls, some real person calls.
      I also ported my parent landline to a wireless home phone service by a carrier which is basically a base box with simcard I inserted. so basically a cellular in a box. This is great because they can take the box anywhere in the country if they want and use the phone. Hopefully the simcard will work without issues on a smartphone.

      @@xxgg The Google Phone app is quite good at letting legitimate businesses' calls go through while blocking scam calls. But it looks like you're all set. Can I ask which carrier you use now for your parents? I bet it's T-Mobile. I've been thinking about getting one of those for my parents.

      @@koreyb If you have WiFi calling on the cellphone would it pass the call through to the cordless phone via bluetooth?I live in an area where my cell phone coverage has only a couple bars and use WiFi calling when I am home and works well. Does the Cordless phone plug into the home wiring to allow all the phones in your house to work too?

    • @koreyb
      @koreyb Рік тому

      @@n1kkri Yes, that will work fine as long as both your smartphone and your carrier allows wifi calling. Mine does. No, it only works with one bluetooth enabled cordless phone set, but you can have multiple cordless phone handsets linked to that one cordless phone homebase if you buy a set with multiple handsets. Then there is no need to plug into anything at all, except electrical outlets.

      Good news! I had this exact same issue. On the cordless handset good to Menu - Settings -Call block. Under that I found that ones of my numbers had been added to the "block a single number" list. I deleted the number from that list and that solved the problem. There are also block range if numbers and block unknown numbers options in that menu which might be causing the issue. Hope this helps!

    I’m curious if you can just use the Google Voice app to send and receive call without getting a cell service. For example temporary disable to cell service on your cell phone then just use the Google Voice app to send and receive your phone calls.

    • @aichangesit
      @aichangesit  6 місяців тому

      I'm not certain of Google's policies on that. I do believe that in order to join a cellular device to a Google voice number it does have to have an active cellular service.

      @@aichangesityes, you are correct. I have one cell phone number and has a Google Voice on that cell phone. What I wanted to do is install Google Voice on a different phone, an old IPhone with no cell phone service but connect to WiFi then have that old cell phone linked with the Panasonic Link2cell phone. This way when the Google Voice number rings on that old iPhone, it will ring the Panasonic land line or if I make a call out I can utilize the Google voice app. This probably won’t work this way but was wondering since you have the proper setups. Thanks for the video & reply.

      Depends on what you have in mind. The charging base unit is what has the Bluetooth receiver so you would have to take that as well as the cordless phone. I've seen people use these in RV's and trailers though

      @@aichangesit just a suggestion, if you want to prevent callers, especially scam callers from leaving a voicemail on your cell phone, call the phone and leave short messages about 20 times (this varies from carrier to carrier, but for Verizon it was 20 voicemails) and fill up the voicemail box, which then greets calls with a mailbox is full message and then hangs up on them, preventing them from leaving a message. Once a month or so, you will have to call your voicemail and listen to each recording and then re-save it, so keep the messages very short. Otherwise the voicemail system will automatically delete them. Also, keep your voicemail outgoing message very short, so it gets to the part where it hangs up on them very quickly.
