- I wanted to cut the cord with a land line!
But I still wanted the ease of using a normal phone.
My uncle wanted a home phone but home lines offer nothing.. for $50-60 all he had was local phone calls.
So.. I ended up setting this setup to cut the cord.
1. Get pixel 3a and add visible $25 unlimited phone plan (you can use a cheaper plan like red pocket or mint mobile)
2. Get a cell2jack which will connect your phone by bluetooth to the cell2jack device. Then the cell2jack connects by phone wire to your existing wired phone.
3. Start enjoying regular phone calls but through your old homephone.....
This is not a tutorial. This was my first time setting it up. It's not too bad.

Interesting device, at first I thought it was pretty much pointless but when you mentioned your uncle it's possible uses became clear, thanks.
I tired to find, which Bluetooth class it was but it is not stated anywhere that I could find. I did find a document that states the output is 0.3mW. So that would explain why it needs to be very close the the cell phone. 0.3mW is less than Class 3 which is 1mW.
Interesting! Thanks for the information.
Good to know about the power for Bluetooth. There were reviews about the quality but I think this was due to people not putting the phone close enough to the jack2cell box.
So far I think it's working well.
With the setup. It's being used as both phone line and then secondary as a mobile hotspot from the phone
It's nice but I didn't think I would have use for that. Is it compatible with fax lines? Maybe then yes.
I don’t think it would work with a fax line. So that’s a huge limitation for those who need faxing.
@@angrymathdudei might get one I’ll try a dialup fax to see if it works
@@kasaneteto3113 From what I've read... cellular data cannot do fax. You probably don't need to test this.. most likely it won't work.

I could be wrong.. but I think this is the official response.
You soo badly want to call this a magic jack 🤣🤣🤣
Majic Jack.. I always catch myself saying that.. then correct myself saying jack2cel... it just doesn't sound right.
Does this work with BOFA?
This will depend on what service you decide to use on your cel phone!
I think red pocket and visible will work since they're real cellular companies.
Don't use voip cellular service.. (Freedom pop if it still exists)
@@angrymathdude okay, but I was thinking if you enabled BOFA on that specific device
@@somdusazerate Hmmm.. when you're talking about BOFA.. you're talking about Bank of America, right?
I was assuming you wanted to know if 2-factor authentication would work with the phone number.
Or.. were you talking about a different BOFA? Just trying to clarify
@@angrymathdude I'm talking about BOFA DEEZ NUTZ
