yeah there's no give in the sidewalls to get the opposite side down into the drop center. might have helped if i would have sat them in front of a heater for a while but they sure did want to fight me.
I used to work in a tyre joint, those skid steer and other earth moving equipment were a bastard most of the time, stiff, heavy, non compliant, rusty, full of mud and water and sometimes painful. A good challenge!! Give me a truck wheel any day. Good job mate.
Thanks again mate for taking the time to show us what a winter day is like for you. I don't get snow at all so seeing the extra work it takes just to get you out of the yard is huge. You do prepare well. Also I like to tell you that I enjoy seeing the vehicles for previous shows and how they fit into an overall plan. Good on you buddy.
The side of owning and operating a business that a lot of folks don't realize, not only does upkeep on equipment take time but maintaining your property does too. Your attitude towards it shows that there is a more than a hint of enjoyment in doing so. Taking pride in your work!
I see there was one thing warm in your garage after wrestling those cold stiff tires. You. Thanks for the video. Take care and have a good Holiday Season.
Ezra, all of you guys that lives in that type of climate definitely has the work out every year. Definitely have to keep up with it or everything would be under feet of snow for sure. 👍👍🍺🍺
Yup, that is a dump of snow! We are getting that now up here in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. You could grab some branches, carrots and pebbles! Sell Do it Yourself Snowperson Kits! Great show! Merry Christmas Ezra. 😄☃

Hello mate I’ve not been able too follow you for a while. I been serving HRH I’ll be catching up definitely. Good work as always bro I’d love your knowledge and skills. And old red she’s a beauty. Happy Christmas too you and your family stay safe mate. Regards from south London England 🏴
After watching your video, I shouldn't complain about snow! 😧❄ What a mess to deal with Ezra! Glad you got the tires switched, those stiff sidewall tires are a *pain* to mess with. Be safe on the roads ny friend. Have a great end of the year 🔧🔩
I had a 763 for 10,000 hours I always liked the balance better than any machine since. I use tougher side walls yet. Only a couple of shops have a changer with enough courage. Work safe.
iv put almost 2000 hours on this machine sense I bought it used from a airport, (just shy of 4000 hours now) been a really good machine. i find that i push the limit of what that size machine can do quite a bit. so id kind of like to upgrade to a larger skid or maybe i just need more heavy equipment so i have more choices...lol
I saw on a Facebook group about weather that in 1966 there was 60 foot snow drifts in North Dakota there was a pic of power lines poles complete buried in snow
G’day EZ that’s bloody cold I am taking this opportunity to wish you and yours a very happy and merry Christmas and a prosperous new year. It’s been good watching your videos this year and they are always interesting kind regards John Kinnane
That just looks brutally cold (me being from south Florida). We just had the coldest night yet this year..... it got down to a chilly 42*F!! Time to get out the Parkas! And even with those new tires, I bet sometimes you wish you had one of those track Bobcats. They go just about anywhere....
With the tyres, next time try clamping the wheel rim from the outside inwards instead of inside pushing outwards, I always found it to be a tighter grip and the wheel less likely to pop off the machine, use plenty of soap around the bead. Good job.
Hi Ezra, been wondering how you were doing up there in Dakota, I watch Ryan Hall, he shows all the big snow areas, but not in any detail, you got it under control bud! Hope you have great holiday season, my best to you n your family !!!
Ryan is wrong more times than he is ever right. His big prediction this week is a epic blizzard in the northeast, that will be more BS on his channel and none of you call him out, 😂.
i do snow removal in a lot of places that are concrete or asphalt. chains will leave marks on the surface and i don't like taking on and off 20 times a day. otherwise i would run chains.
Hey Ezra, love the videos. I am soon moving from Oregon to Minnesota and was wondering, how do you keep your fuel from gelling in this cold temperatures? I usually add anti-gel to my fuel every time I fill up the tanks when I am in cold weather, but, when I am on home time and the truck is parked, I am not sure anti-gel would be enough to get things running again when it is time to leave.
We have trucks hauling year around in the Minneapolis, St Paul, and Duluth areas. We have two spare trucks. They will run when a truck is in the shop, They are always ready to go, and have sat for weeks at times The only problem with gelling we have is when we get fuel that has bad biodiesel in it. This happens about once every 5 years. Every time we fuel up we add the prescribed amount of anti gel. On some anti gel bottle labels, it says to mix the anti gel above 50 degrees. After running the truck for 8 hours the fuel is warm, then add the anti gel. When it gets colder than 10 below sometimes we will add some kerosene or # 1 to the fuel. When we got a really cold spell we would fill up with # 1 every other time. A few times I could not get kerosene or # 1, I was desperate and added about 5 gallons of gas, which did not harm anything. I have not tried that on a new truck. We also have some Minnesota DOT plow trucks, jelling has never been a problem on those trucks, they have fuel heaters, some are electric, and some have coolant running thru them. These trucks go out in every storm. The true test of the truck and anti gel is when it goes below -30 degrees with high winds (-75 wind chill) that cause drifting. The trucks have sat unused for about a month when there was no snow, we would have a frost plug and an oil pan heaters, turn the key, and away they go. It is just as important for you to be prepared and properly dressed, I have spent up to 35 hours straight plowing in the truck.
Oh ya a good time to get some new skins on the old girl! Shera called she wants her big Ole bucket back! Check the Engine oil cooler on that Machine if it has one, they love to fail.
We got a bunch of snow and ice covered roads here in Watford as well.Quick question. It’s my first winter in ND after many years and wondering what your method is to keep the air lines from freezing on your truck and trailer? TIA
sure do love your tire machine! watching you wire wheel that rim made me want o grab a kleenex....we know what all that rust dust leads too! boy, those tough side walls just wouldnt let it fall into the valley. wonder if one of those threaded "bead breaker" tools would help to push it down and keep it down while the machine turns it. you know its cold when you walk on the snow and it squeaks! nice to have a bucket that is much wider than your tire track.
Tire machine is really nice I bought that this last summer. I think first time iv showed it in a video but iv used it quite a bit already worth every penny. Probably would have helped to warm the tires up in front of a heater for a bit but they were really stiff sidewalls are over a inch thick. The big bucket is nice it can really move a lot of snow quickly. Sometimes you still have to drop down to the smaller bucket to get punched threw it takes more traction/power to push the bigger bucket but your not spilling into your tire tracks either and have more room to turn inside your path.
Before I got an otr tire machine I had better luck with skid tires on the floor with tire bars slow and steady with little bites and a lot of lube. We go through about 6 sets a year between the machines so I get a fair bit of practice
Ezra. another great video.Changing those tires looked a little rough. Do you own or rent the shop? Hope its close to the house. Hope you & the wife have a Great Christmas & New Year. Stay Safe & Warm
Honestly it's not going to be warmer long enough to attract them any more if anything the activity might detour them. Either way if they want to make a home they will
@@Ezrider359 Thats a good point. Its still a bit warm here during the day. I do try all the tricks to keep them at bay. Mint oil, drier sheets, even cat pee from a neighbor (that was a fun conversation LOL) Stay warm brother!
So I'm in SD and since you're a just next door, I figured I should ask you about cold weather gear. How to you keep your toes from hurting in the cold and what do you do for coat and pants? I'm driving daycab and half my day I spend outside and can't seem to keep my feet from freezing (wool socks and insulated boots and still my toes hurt after 30 mins).
Generally I wear thermals then sweat pants and then jeans over that. Then I'll wear a thermal shirt followed by a t shirt then a thick hooded sweatshirt and a heavy jacket. Thick wool socks or 2 pairs of socks and change your socks often. If they get the slightest bit damp from snow or sweat whatever theres no keeping your feet warm. So change your socks atleast once During the day more if needed sometimes I'll keep my next pair of socks on the defroster vent so there nice and warm when you put them on and at a certain point you just have to limit your exposure work outside for 15 mins then get out of the weather warm up a little and then go back out
You gotta be tough living in the Dakota's. How are the rubber track machines in that climate? Anyone using them over a tire skid steer or does the snow pack inside the rollers etc and cause trouble?
Man i hate snow. You can spend hours working shifting snow just to be able to start work. My old boss many years ago used to say the best place for snow is on a picture.

Was on the block heater long enough to help certainly not fully warmed up. Block was probably + 5-10*f rather than -15f

That BobCat would be much better with a nice set of shiny Alcoas on it ! Cold as can be here in Calgary but we soldier on....
Lol
The old tires were not that bad 😄 Too bad you didn't have another set of wheels to put the new tires on and saved the old tires for dry season.
I'd rather throw them on market place for a couple bucks than swap tires back and forth to get a couple extra months of use out of them
Like wise I enjoyed your show and very educational

Ohh Hell NO those are too much work for Me l would have to pay someone to install those tires lol.
24:43 Looks like the breaks didn't release in a couple wheels.
shoes were frozen to the drums its pretty common to happen in that type of weather. a couple hits with a hammer will release them.
