Tim Mosso and Brian Govberg return to Thursday morning with a Geneva-themed discussion of leading luxury watch brands. Today’s watches are built exclusively by watchmakers located in the city of canton of Geneva. Dress watches, sports watches, major brands, and independent horology are represented as we share our favorites with Watchbox’s global audience of watch collectors.
Brian’s selections include major names in the luxury watch marketplace. Leading the line is the Rolex Yacht-Master with the Oysterflex strap-bracelet. Launched in 2015, the Yacht-Master 116655 incorporates Rolex’s rubber strap, a rose gold case, and the Yacht-Master family’s first ceramic bezel insert.
F.P. Journe builds both Brian’s personal Chronometre a Resonance and today’s Octa Reserve de March from Watchbox’s inventory. This 38m rose gold automatic includes a power reserve complication and the discontinued brass Octa caliber 1300 from pre-2004 Journe production. Finally, Brian names the Patek Philippe World Time Moon 5575 as his favorite watch on today’s program. This white gold limited edition of 1,300 pieces was the standout model during Patek’s 2014 175th anniversary celebration.
Tim’s choices are further from the mainstream than Brian’s but reflect his passion for undiscovered value. The Laurent Ferrier Galet Traveller Cloisonne Enamel is 41mm of white gold fire. This travel time automatic includes a lavishly finished caliber 230 with a three-day power reserve, double-direct impulse “natural” escapement, and a fired enamel dial depicting the North and South Atlantic geographies. Tim names the Laurent Ferrier as his favorite watch of the day.
A Vacheron Constantin Medicus Skeleton Chronograph offers rarity and hand-craftsmanship at the highest level. The 37mm platinum limited edition of 30 pieces includes a hand skeletonized and engraved Lemania chronograph movement that begins life almost identical to that in an Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch.
Finally, Tim showcases a Chopard L.U. Chopard Regulator from the Quattro series. This 39.5mm limited edition of 250 pieces in rose gold includes both Geneva Hallmark finishing and a COSC Swiss chronometer certification. For additional technical interest, this multi-complication includes a power reserve indicator, a second time zone, and guilloche dial cut on a rose lathe.

I love to see Brians watches! Its so interesting to see a well worn luxury time piece, adds so much more character. That Journe is a beauty.

Love Brian’s Resonance and the Reserve de Marche (and I usually prefer Platinum FPJs.). And that might be my favorite PP World Time too. As for the VC, the hand-engraved, open-worked movement is next level cool and, as Tim said at the end, just dense enough to obscure your wrist hairs, which when visible through a movement to me means it was over-skeletonized.

Just love the high quality watch talk you and Brian bring to the table Tim.
    Thanks for that.
BTW, today I'm with Brian the Patek Philippe World Time Moon 5575 is probably the coolest worldtime version ever😍
    Best,

Guys, I understand that you’re a business but I sometimes feel you always find positive things to say about your stock when you clearly either dislike or wouldn’t recommend or buy the piece. It’s ok to qualify your opinion with “it’s not for me” and then give your honest opinion.

This show should have been called “The Ex Wives” episode, considering how great the watches look initially, but later on how expensive it would be to fix and the shattered dreams left afterwards.

Double H H It would be interesting if Tim and Brian would mention repair costs and turn around times on watches like Journe and Lange. The initial costs don’t impress me. The collector’s willingness to pay for upkeep, wait for the timepiece , and have the discipline / patience to deal with these folks does impress me.

  • @watchesandcaps2566
    @watchesandcaps2566 4 роки тому

Idk, I just can never get behind engraved skeleton dials like that. There's just something about them that makes them look cheap to me. Maybe I've seen too many cheap, Chinese specials with skeleton dials and crappy engravings that it's kind of ruined the whole motif to me.

What's with the mask hate on here? There are many reasons for wearing masks right now (regardless if you believe they work or not), one I can think of is, if it's a government/state mandate and you own/operate a business and do not abide by the laws/regulations in place and one of your employees contracts CV19 (possibly death ensues or spreads to others where death ensues) then your ass and your business are at risk legally, really the ramifications could be severe.

Just an idea, but could Tim wear a different watch that you guys are selling every episode? It’s so important to see the wrist presence. Kinda of sick of seeing the Sinn. Sorry!! Maybe it’s a paid advertisement. Tim, your are best at what you do!

A nice collection of watches. But sorry guys, that Chopard is just ugly and very dated looking, that’s why it’s underrated. Out of all of them, for me there are two winners...the Patek and the LF you both chose as your favorites.

If you constantly wash your hands there is no real need for gloves, and even if you do wear gloves you still need to constantly wash your hands. Masks on the other hand there is no substitute for if you want to be within reasonable proximity of others.
