Great project. My friend made a similar project for his childrens bedroom. He rounded off the front corners of the frame and then padded the entire outer frame covering it with leather so the metal structure wont hurt or cause injuries to the children while playing. Similar to snooker table pockets. Also, he covered the underside of the frame with plywood :)

08:38 thanks for your video, thumbs up, I think that there is a possibility of hurting legs on the corners , I think a round contour on each corner will prevent a knee injury.
Brilliant design. So many self proclaimed floating beds are just abominations of building supplies and look like a bad Highschool shop project. Well done sir.
Looks nice. But I'd make the frame separable into 2 smaller parts so it could be disassembled to be carried through narrow passages. Also I assume some weaker walls might need some kind of a backplate to hold the bed.
Seems most of the weight is taken by the feet under it. Only on the far end you get somewhat of a cantelever effect. But that is where your feet are. Unless you start jumping on the edge of the bed it probably will be fine if you use proper screws into the wall and use every available stud to secure it to. 10 big screws into 3 or 4 studs should be able to carry multiple people.
the problem with this bed is that if you add too much weight ur gonna ruin ur entire wall, if someone jumps on that at the outer edge it could rip the wall panels its connected to off. Floating beds look good but these are not for kids or active people, and you need to be careful, if 2-3 ppl sits at the edge ur adding some insane pressure to the wall, and if you ever fall on it or jumps on it like laying down just falling onto it with ur back etc, or for ppl with high weight, this is not gonna be ideal and ur defo just gonna ruin for urself here. so, yeah not really ideal. can just put 2 legs on it at the edge and you would have easy to clean under the bed as well. + you cant move these around if you do changes to ur room that easily.
Maybe I missed it in the video, but why not mitre or cap at least the visible ends of the steel? You are already bringing for clean up anyways and it would make a much more finished look than the big holes in the end. The mitre would also allow for much nicer/bigger rads or the parts you might hit
A floating bed in a cold barren room is not something I'd want, but this was a fun video to watch. You did a good job, and it is a really cool idea for the right person.
I'd add trusses from the middle support up to the two corners farthest from the wall. I feel like the frame would bend if two people sit at the very edge.
I too had a similar feeling until I actually did see one similar project in person and tried it. It would take two really very heavy people for the steel structure to bend like you say. Also, the project I saw can hold 800 pounds with the steel pipe frame and also had an 'H' shape dual support base as opposed to the one shown above. :) But your idea of trusses is also correct.
It seems like the arrangement of framing here wasn't really thought through; the two middle slats should have continued all the way through to the end of the bed. The way he's made it, you've got them cantilevered out past the leg support, then a cross slat cantilevered out to the side on the frame, then the side frame cantilevered even further to the end of the bed, you're amplifying the deflection SO much more doing it like that (and it shows when he jumps onto the bed). He could also just add two diagonal support beams from the base of the leg out to the corner of the bed, which would be no more visible than the existing legs, and would pretty much make the bed completely rigid and not bouncy
Excellent, Excellent have no words, In expensive and easy to implement and easy to clean surface below bed, even we can use below space for keeping other stuff

Hey! This is awesome project. The bed looks really nice and modern. Got one questions as I didn't get that from the video. What is the thickness of the steel square tube? I know this is 1,5x1,5 inch but not sure what is the thickness. Thanks for the video!
Amazing video as always! Thanks for sharing this! I noticed that you just used plywood for under the bed. I've always heard that you'll get mold if there isn't ventilation under the mattress. Was the plywood just for the video and you'll put holes or something later? I'm doing a bed right now and am trying to figure out an easy way to ventilate without a box spring. Thanks!
Good observation. I usually just flip the mattress every month and once in a while keep it on the terrace in the sun for a few hours. Although my method may have different results and theories worldwide considering climate and living conditions.
I've also had mold with putting a full sheet of plywood directly under the matrass. But i simply drilled a bunch of 1 cm holes in all the next bed projects and zero mold to be seen. so it is a simple fix
Agree, looks good, only two points to think of: - the corrners, when you will hit these corners you will cry, this is steel, so you may even hurt yourself. Maybe put some covers/bumpers on the corners - have you tested what is happening if someone will stand on the edge of that bed? you should test what will happen if two small kids will be jumping on your bed
