- This is a Comparison of the MXR Carbon Copy Deluxe with MXR Carbon Copy. For a better comparability I only used the dark mode of the Carbon Copy Deluxe.

Aaaahh the Carbon Copy. What a lovely pedal. New one is cool with the extra features, but soundwise I still prefer my old CC.
I had an old Carbon Copy, which I sold, ironically, to buy a Deluxe, which upgrades the original in every way BUT the sound. From every shootout I've heard the repeats on the OG are just fuller, darker, and more lush. A subtle difference to be sure, but it's *the* sound that the Deluxe fails to capture IMO. Plus the logarithmic mix knob on the Deluxe is a nightmare to set exactly right.
The original for some reason sounds more cohesive, wow .
Great comparison! Thank you.
the original really sounds great. i rarely use tap tempo and more as a background wash of sound so it is perfect for me.
Thanks for the demo. I bought a Deluxe on sale for $180. I like it, but I'm thinking of getting a used original. Sounds richer and the repeats sound stronger. The Deluxe also makes a clicking sound when oscillating. I'm hoping the original has softer oscillation. Any thoughts?
I have the CC deluxe but the original sounds slighty better
The Deluxe is more versatile. Both pedals sound amazing.
I think the CC original sounds darker, whether thats better or not depends what stylistic effect you are trying to achieve, I think. The CC Deluxe also has a bright (er) mode, more controls and a tap tempo feature, if that is something you are after.
I must admit I do not like big pedals though, the CC mini is quite attractive to me, it has the bright mode but no battery compartment. I do not like the stupid MXR battery compartment anyway, which requires you to undo 4 screws to access it! Boss had a better design more than 40 years ago, very slack design in this area!
