I distinctly remember when the first Carbon Copy came out. Oddly enough, I have no recollection of the Deluxe being launched, but ever since noticing it, I've wondered if the additional features were worth the bump in price. Let's not delay.

The one review/comparison I've been waiting for well over a year! Thanks!
Hope I had the information you were looking for
@@StompboxBreakdown Yes you did! Many thanks again 👌🏻
Actually, was looking for a really good true analog delay for a Worship Pedalboard. Now the ones that are there are digital copies saying "analog delay" *ahem-ahem* *boss*. So was really considering the Deluxe over the regular CC. Looking at the dotted 8ths and other options, it's a really good option.
What an incredible video! You covered so much information here. Thank you!
I own the deluxe…. Didn’t realise the knobs and tempo sub divisions don’t talk to each other! So thanks….. very good reveiw. Also the explanation of dotted delays was clearing up some confusion on my part. Nice job.
Love your channel, another great review!
Thank you so much
Glad you mentioned the Rubberneck. Lucky I got mine before the price hike. A superb pedal and even without the time stretch function it's extremely versatile.
Oh yeah, it’s a wonderful pedal. I love mine, especially when paired with the FS3X. Wonderful pedal.
I'm a Bass Guitarist, but I loved this video. Very well articulated.
Greetings from Uganda 🇺🇬👊🏿🖤
Glad you found it enjoyable! Thanks for watching
Great vid, I have the deluxe but was considering downgrading to the standard version to save pedalboard space but after watching this I think I'll keep it. I do like having the tap tempo, and mod controls where I can access them.
I really like the carbon copy, awesome analog delay. I find myself using the Wayhuge echo puss a lot more than the cc, very similar but with more tweakability.
Thank you and great job.
Thanks Michael
Nice Couch straps! I love the several that I use. Oh....and the review! I had a chance to try a Carbon Copy about 12 years ago. It was nice, but not having the tap tempo was a deal killer. I went a with a Hungry Robot The Wash instead. But if I had the chance back then to try the Deluxe I may very well have purchased that.
Ooh, that one looks really interesting. I love the vibe that pedal has, at least from the demos I've seen.
And yeah, I'm a Couch Strap addict. That blue one is soooo super soft.
I come back for everything, but especially the comments like "bowl of cornflakes that you left and forgot about in the kitchen." Bravo, this is The Show.
Thank you so much! That's definitely a comparison made from experience
Nice video, thank you very much :)
I'm not a big fan of tap tempo but I love the modulation controls on the outside and that it goes full whacko
I’m a proud owner/user of the Carbon Copy Deluxe. It’s no joke- it’s Da Sheeeiiiiiiitt!!!!🤘🏾😖🤘🏾😖🤘🏾😖🤘🏾😖🤘🏾😁
I browsed the internet after you mentioned the Rubberneck. I remember i bought it in 2022 for €180 new and i was amazed that it was so "cheap". But it did have some issues to be considered. Luckily those issues were not a big deal for me. Having said that, i just looked it up as i said and it is now €299 new. That's a more than 50% increase! It is insane..
i really like the comparison to manual transmissions and film photography. i think there are 2 qualities to that group of things that people will always connect with. one is the physical interaction, the second is the quality they provide. viynl sounds better, manuals make driving more enjoyable, film has its quality that is hard to replicate because so many variables effect the outcome. and when it comes to pedals, its easy to see how those qualities will always be desirable.
i think that is also a separate player/customer than those who are into the big digital pedals and certainly rack gear. its incredibly hard to duplicate the sounds of rack gear in pedal form, or even plug-in form, but all the tech is advancing to where its possible to put good rack sounds into pedals which i believe is a huge opportunity for pedal makers. and looking at the BOSS SDE3000, if they can bring the price down in the future, it just opens up a new avenue for pedal making.
i sold the deluxe carbon copy and bought the Jam pedals Delay LLama Mk3, I dont miss the deluxe (specially the strange mix knob from the deluxe)
I have a few analog delays, an og deluxe memory man, a boss dm-2w, and the Asheville adg-1. Part of me wants to buy a carbon copy, just to have on hand for comparison. I generally am not much for uber dark pedals but there something musical about the carbon copy, and it’s simple execution. My first BBD delay was the dm-2w but I picked up a carbon copy not long after, I think I preferred the versatility of the dm-2w’s multi modes but I came back to the carbon copy at times for the modulated repeats.
Jam pedals delay llama xtreme. Get your hands on one. Wins everytime. Mxr is nice but tame. The a-b feature is killer. Love it on my meris ottobit. Every pedal should have it. Great vid man. Rack stuff coming back. Dusted my ol ibanez sdr1000+ of, stacked it against bluesky/ specular tempus… its great. Got mine for 80 bucks. Reverb sleeper: digitech rp1 goes to 99sec of grainy digital heaven.
Love the vid. I was just so disappointed with the deluxe version. The mix knob has a useless sweep, the tap tempo screen is odd and hard to read, and the knobs were just not as easy to turn since they were so close together.
I was lucky enough to pick up a Echo-Puss this weekend. I guess it’s a carbon copy of a carbon copy with an extra tone knob.
6:22 Your face said it all 😂
For me the battery life is why I didn’t go for the deluxe, but I love the xtra feature on the deluxe, esp. TT
if i turn regen past 1 oclock on cc i get a scary world ending feedback loop that gets super loud no matter what volume my amp is at.
The Carbon Copy is definitely a dark type.
Most certainly
HI! nice video congratulations!
I have a question: does the deluxe version have spillover? so the possibility of maintaining the beats after bypassing the pedal?
Unfortunately, I’m at least 99% sure this is true bypass only, no buffered option for tails.
@@StompboxBreakdown Do you have time to give me some advice?
I have an acoustic set and I'm looking for a high quality delay that is easy and intuitive like carbon copy deluxe, which has 2 presets and tap tempo, but must necessarily have spillover.
Practically a carbon copy deluxe but with spillover 😊😂
can you advise me something?
Thank you so much
Hmm, so bucket brigade with presets and tap tempo, and tails? Let me think on that. I know the EAE Sending does, but I feel like there must be something that covers those bases.
🤘👍🏿
Does anyone know if the Modulation Speed occurs within the repeat or the played note? for example: repeats is 4, modulation speed is 3 = 12 modulations within that single played note. VS. repeats is 4, modulation speed is 3 = 3 modulations within the single played note (which would sound like hell with repeats being 4.
Awsome question..it's a pain..but you can match em
i didnt even know the OG CC had mod pots lol
also i mighhhhttt grab this as a CC with tap is amazing
I think they may have implemented it differently on earlier models but I wasn’t able to find any definitive writeup to confirm it.
What’s really interesting is you could potentially use the A/B thing to ease the modulation into your delay. I think it hits a really good price/feature spot.
I had mini one and deluxe. They are pretty different, but I agree, deluxe is not worth it.
Here with my obligatory "fuck yeah King Buffalo" comment anytime you're wearing one of their shirts 😂
Was just listening to Orion this morning on a dreary rainy day. Fit perfectly.
STOMPBOX BREAKDOWN, How can you do dotted 8th notes or dotted 16th notes on vintage tape echoplex or vintage analog delay pedals?
Without an automatic beat division thing you’d just have to adjust the delay time by ear
@@StompboxBreakdown I'm not sure if the delay time on vintage analog delay pedal that the delay time can be adjusted to get dotted 8th notes and dotted 16 notes or triplets. How can you tell?
@@waynegram8907 Are you asking about a delay pedal in particular? As long as you can adjust the time of a pedal, you can make it repeat one and a half times longer than the beat for dotted eights.
@@StompboxBreakdown Boss DM2 or Ibanez AD9, I can adjust the delay time but I'm not sure how to set the delay time to get dotted 8th notes, dotted 16th notes and triplets. That is the hard part if finding the delay time settings for these.
How about the slave function? No one seems to demo that.
Yeah, there’s a bunch of stuff that can be done using the expression pedal input. There’s a cutoff point with these videos where if I’m just reading the instructions manual into the camera, viewership drops off, so I try to stick to the things I think people will find most useful and interesting.
Have you ever heard of Mundane Matt?
Ha. I can see why you're asking. I hadn't before I just googled him.
They both sound the same
...Sir, is it STEREO ?...Peace...
It is not stereo
Worker and Parasite!!! LMAO!! Best shirt yet lol lol
Hahaha thank you! It’s one of my favorite clips, especially when they come back and Krusty is just dumbfounded
"...what the hell was that?!" XD@@StompboxBreakdown
