The variance of lyrics, delivery, music is why seeing a live performance used to be so magical: today's technology has stripped so much of that away. I love this recording for the aforementioned reasons alone : Stevie is just simply brilliant.
I was there ! Front row at Hec-Edmunson Pavilion ! On acid (hey it was 1980)... hands on the very low stage with no barrier, and during "Sara" I picked up one of the many roses thrown at stage,,, handed it to her during the break in the song... and she bent down and said, "Thank you" and kissed me on the cheek, Well... I don't know what else to type... but I wish there was a video of it. ;-)
Tacoma Paul, great story! I've followed FM since 1975....and just saw them last night in the Tacoma Dome. Pretty dang good show, considering the changes..and passages of time,...
I wish I'd have been anywhere to hear her. Anywhere. Anytime. Her's is a voice (and presence) unlike any other. Nothing like it. Nothing at all. Thank you Jeremy Daniels for uploadin' this. It is a gem. Peace, from Seattle.
Kendall & Reginald: The whole band was pretty fried after five years of almost non-stop touring to live up to the sort of management and/or recording contracts commonly written in those days. If you wanted to get one, you had to sell yourself body & soul. The so-called "Frampton Effect." The industry has never been kind to its golden geese, but it was was just plain rude to them in the '70s.
CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHERE IN SEATTLE THIS WASA RECORDED FROM I AM THINKING IT WAS UP IN THE UNIVERSITY DISTRICT AT THE HEC ED PAVILION? I WAS THERE A FRIEND GOT US IN FREE BACKSTAGE TICKETS WAS SO WONDERFUL THE AUDIENCE WENT ABSOLUTELY SILENT IN AWE OF WHAT THEY WERE BEING GIVEN SOMETHING SO WONDERFULL FOR SEVERAL MINUTES NOT A SOUL MADE A SOUND EXCEPT THE BAND !
To Reginald Bigley, so what if she was wasted what difference does that make it's an awesome performance she certainly not the first performer to perform wasted what planet are you from. Do you have a problem with being wasted? Sounds like a waste of a life to me.

She sounds so passionate and wonderful here. Her tone matured a lot during the Tusk tour. I love her wild spirit.
