I saw one today in a second-hand shop. I went into a café and found this video. You convinced me to buy it. I left my coffee (and my bag), and went and bought it. Then I went back and finished my coffee (which was still warm!). I'm home now, with the unit, and happily going through the video again. Cheers. 😃

So I got one of these a few years ago for free from a Salvation Army, and at the time I had no pedals but wanted to get some good OD/dist/chorus/reverb/delay basic effects going. I have this at the end of my chain and have slowly but surely been getting individual pedals (non-boss) to try and replace this thing until I no longer need it. Once I really got to know it and started using the Stereo modulation effects, I realized how awesome this thing is. Now I run a stereo amp setup and delay and chorus in stereo are amazing. This unit will stay on my new pedalboard. Like you mentioned, the wide stereo alone is worth it. Do t like the tuner or the octave effects compared to the real thing but everything else is solid. Thanks for making this video!
@@PetesGuitarUniverse absolutely, this ME series completely flies under the radar in modern gear/pedal channels that praise all of BOSS's pedals that are in this thing. My only question that I can't figure out is this: are there analog circuits in here or is it a computer/digital modeler?
@@PetesGuitarUniverse yeah, I was actually trying to buy a ditto x2 looper the guy was selling, which he had just sold to someone else and he mentioned he has one of these bad boys he doesn't need, so I said if the price is really good I can think about it and then he threw me the 60e price and aggreed to pay for transport so I really had no choice to say no lol! Now it is waiting for me in the mail office, hopefully it is what he promised!
Shimmer effect is just in essence a combination of harmony / pitch effect with delay. There are many variations of this that other pedals do amazingly. But none of those FX are assignable to the pedal in the ME25
@@PetesGuitarUniverse Ahhh great!! I'm using an amp the stomp is a distortion but also wanted some reverb or delay for lead I'm not sure how I would set this up!!
@@Editing72337 if you're not using the boss for overdrive or distortion, I'd place it on the amps FX loop (if it has one). If not place it last in the chain!
You would have to select each effect in the chain and save it as a patch or engage in stompbox mode, so combing 2 modulation FX would not be possible. Same as it would not be possible to select 2 ODs or distortions.
Best way is to use a USB cables. It keeps your signal digital so there's less AD/DA conversions needed to get the sound into your laptop. Sounds great through USB too.
How do the effects contained in the ME-25 compare to the stand alone versions? For example, does the Rotary effect in the ME-25 sound as good as the RT-20 pedal? Great review and demo.
I've owned nearly all the individual pedals at some point in time over the years. I'd say the sounds are the same, but maybe the full range of controls are slimmed down slightly on some of the fx. Still achieve perfectly desirable tones though.
Question that I cannot find an answer to: I use a Scarlett DAW into an iMac using Pro Logic. I have been using a pair of 1/4" cables from the outputs to the front of the Scarlett for a stereo input. Can I leave them plugged in at the back, into input 3 & 4?? Is there a better way? Is this alright? I also have a headphone adapter pushed in with nothing attached to it so I can get the apparent "speaker cab simulator" working. Are there adjustments for this? I think this is a great unit and I have had it for a while, I am just rediscovering it now that I have a better setup. Thanks for taking the time to read. Any help is appreciated
It's possible, but watch out for the dreaded 'feedback loop'. You only want to monitor the inputs, not both or all together as you'll destroy your ears and possibly speakers
@@PetesGuitarUniverse sorry I meant cab sim, what I understood is if I plug a jack into the headphone I will have cab sim also with the regular stereo outputs and no cab sim if nothing is plugged into the headphone jack. Isn't it?
@@guitareMTL the preamp just adds various degrees of OD to the signal. You can turn it on or off when using an amp. It works fine both ways. Just adds tone in different colours.
I think you will need to experiment layering with the octave setting, mixing it to your taste with as much sustain as you can get. Organs have lots of harmonies going on, so try to dial in the right harmony for your song using theither pitch harmony dial.
Does anyone know if there is a way to get both cabinet simulated and non-simulated signal simultaneous? Like L/R non-simulated output to amp and cab sim from PHONES jack?
@@PetesGuitarUniverse Hello and thanks for response. What I mean is simultaneously have a simulated output to the recording mixer and, at the same time, send non-simulated output to amp. I figure its unlikely but perhaps still possible?

Is there a way of substituting one of the sounds with the sound directly coming out of the amp but still have the use of the volume pedal ,tuner and other sounds?
Just create a tone, or shift one patch to another by going into save mode (make the light flash), then select your desired patch number by using the foot switches to toggle through the numbers, then hit write to save it in that location.
Question please: if you already have a sound you're using, can you instantly engage the chorus or delay sounds on the fly or do you have to have them already pre set ? Thanks !
Sadly, once you've built your loop and stopped it, you can't restart it and keep jamming or build the loop any further. Shame, but that's what the RC pedals are for I guess.
