- This also works on 2004-2009 GMC Envoy, Buick Rainier, Chevrolet TrailBlazer, Isuzu Ascender, Oldsmobile Bravada, Saab 9-7X where there is no filter door already installed.

This was a random search result after seeing a cabin air filter commercial... lol The curiosity light bulb went off because I knew I had never changed one on my 2007 Envoy. It's odd they'd set these up in early years for a filter, then never install the filter element, eh? I live in Wyoming now after living in North Dakota before (scoria dust from the roads is the main foe there), as well as Tennessee prior to that (pollen season is bad there, obviously). This is on my to-do list to cut down on dust in the interior, for finding the door from an early model (or a Silverado as others have mentioned) shouldn't be that hard considering how many of these were built. Thanks for taking the time to share this, for mine still looks nearly new inside and out after all these years.
This video was just what i needed. Thanks!!!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching
If it's that much trouble screw it
Just installed a cabin air filter on my 2003 trailblazer. It has a door and opening, but didn't have a filter prior.
That was GM trying to save a buck
My 2005 Trailblazer doesn't have the hole for a bolt. I made a cover out of HVAC ducting and glued a foam strip to the inside then drilled a hole in each end to fasten the DIY door.
Do a quick video i got a 06 just saw this video which is a good one
I just put one in my 2005! I'm a big fella & I barely had room for me & my little led light & my Dremel let alone trying to film it🤣
Great video tool
Thanks!
No need to buy a door, just use gorilla tape. It is nice and thick and incredibly sticky
Didn’t have to do that if you too the screws sittin behind the bottom of glove box the bottom half of the part you cut out comes off with the rest of the bottom covering.
Mine was a later model that doesn't have the access hatch built in
Is there a part number for the little door? Or just type in cabin air filter door for 2005 Trailblazer on EBay? Follow up. I did finally get one off eBay & I've had it for a while now but I just got a Dremel & it made quick work of that plastic! I'm 6'3 & 340 lbs so it was definitely tight😖 but I got'er done👍🏿
Awesome! I'm glad you got it done! You'll be happy during pollen season.
My late 03 has open hole with the cap. GMC Sierra 2005 filter fit right in. I guess 02 trail/voys has a complete filter set up?
So there is no cabin air filter for a 2003 gmc envoy ? Or can I put a different one in
No, the 2003 Envoy did not have a cabin air filter installed from the factory
@@toolinhand So I don't understand. You said the 2001 and 2002 had a panel to replace the filter easily. You said all years after that need a panel cut out like in this video. But now you're saying a 2003 doesn't have a filter whatsoever. So I don't understand. I have a 2003, so I would like to know.
@@skankytrick 2003 and beyond, you'd need to cut out the panel.
Those vehicles have a lot of problems with engine mounts
You have to use the AC Delco mounts, or they destroy the aftermarket ones fast.
Good info
Does a 2006 envoy denali have the same set up?
Yes
My exact question and answer I needed
No debris fell out... ?
Nope!
where did you got the door
On Ebay. You can just look at the Silverados at a junk yard, too.
Where did buy the door can’t find it on eBay
I don't remember. Just look for a Silverado one of the same year. That may fit.
end up have it made buy this guy on online.@@toolinhand
What’s the part number or eBay link for the door?
69
or 420
Or both at the same time.
Do you think an X-acto knife can tackle this without too much hassle?
I don't know. I used the multi tool because I wanted control due to it is so close to the AC evaporator.
I was able to cut through mine with a utility knife. Wasn't easy, but 15 minutes of cutting the 3 sides that were easier to get to and scoring the 4th side, I pulled down on it...it snapped right off along the 4th side.
anyone know where it would be for a 2008 trailblazer??? I can't find it
It's under the passenger side part of the dashboard. You have to remove the plastic trim first.
Why didn't you say what the power tool is?
I thought I did. It's an oscillating tool.
Whats the name of the tool u use to cut it with?
It's an oscillating tool.
how do i find the cabin air filter door on ebay? what do i search for
Get the cabin air filter for a 2000 Silverado
so trailblazer dont have cabin filter? :O
No. They never came with one. 2001 and 2002 had the door already. All years after, you have to add the door.
@@toolinhand what about the 04?
2005 GMC Envoy has a sealed door cabin filter
I am here wondering if they never meant to change it
Where can I get it ?for a 2002 gmc envoy ?what part number do I get ?
Get the cabin air filter for a 2002 Silverado
what did you search for to find the door/cover because I can't find it on ebay? maybe post a link to where you got yours. Thanks
try junkyard I got it free from few yrs ago. know it's not easy to find one anywhere I'd looked for. sick of smelling stinky air/dust. time for me to cut hole SOOOON!!!!
Check Ebay for Envoy or Trailblazer 2002
Because 2001 and 2002 they have that thing
I can't seem to find the door anywhere any recommendations?
You need to remove the kick panel first. If you have an actual door, you'll see it. If you don't have an actual door, you'll see what I showed in the video.
@@toolinhand sorry I meant the door online to cover the hole after cutting it open to hold the filters in.
Google "2002 trailblazer cabin air filter door" and they are there.
@@toolinhand copy that thanks for this video and help!
Does a 2004 GMC Envoy have the same result?
Yes, you'll have to do the same thing on an 04
2005 too
why cant i just use some duct tape?
You probably could.
