Check out my latest woodworking project where I build a custom wood picture frame using traditional joinery. This project is perfect for both the beginner and craftsman alike who is looking to proudly display a picture or artwork in a custom frame design.
In this woodworking project I use unique half-lap joinery and a square peg detail to highlight the frame.
I heard about woodprix good opinions.
Those plans are really gooood!
Nice project. Good tip on making the square mortises, but I'm still amazed at how you were able to hold the crisp edge in such soft timber when making it deeper. Thanks. Cheers, David.
Constantly...
My girlfriend... “why can’t you build cool stuff like samurai carpenter?”
Me... “because he knows what he’s doing. here’s some money, go buy something nice darling.”
You’re costing me a lot of money for chrissakes!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣✊✊‼️
uh.... as a woman, there is no reason SHE can't build cool stuff like the samurai carpenter... buy her a few tools and point her to the workshop.
rapunzel eh? Hi, not sure what you being a woman has to do with it. Nevertheless, my girlfriend is not into building cool stuff but thanks for your suggestion.
Tell her you could if only you had a shop and tools like the Samurai then she'll buy you the toys!
I'm pretty sure if you had just a penknife, you would out class most of the woodworkers on UA-cam. This isn't me trying to ask for favours. Just pure and simple fact. I have watched you for a couple of years at least and every time you do something its just amazing. The chest you made a while ago with the carved top is still ( in my humble opinion) one of the best and most beautiful projects on this platform. Thank you for giving me something to aspire to.
Just beautiful! Happy Thanksgiving all!!
Nothing like watching the samurai sand for 3 + minutes.. it's a nice-looking frame though then again everything you make is nice looking wish I had your talent
talent = literally anything you're willing to practice at. "I can't do that" is just an excuse to avoid the discomfort of not being good at something. (unless you're physically unable to perform the tasks) keep doing it and you'll get better and better every time...even small steps are forward steps.
Step 75: install delicate glass and valuable artwork in frame.
Step 76: keep beating on the frame with woodworking tools.
🤔
beautiful! how u liking the odies?
Beautiful work as always, Jesse. Who's the map maker? Think I ran into them at Lavender Festival this year down in Sequim, WA
A Wideman I got it at the strawberry festival on Vashon island.
5 videos in a month, kind of feels like the samurai might be coming back
A tip : you can watch movies on flixzone. I've been using it for watching all kinds of movies recently.
@Ethan Mario Definitely, been watching on Flixzone} for years myself :)
That is one cool frame with the typical samurai touch and not your average picture either
Exceptionally well built with fine craftsmanship and details like those square pegs sticking out, looking like they were dowels. Beautiful woodwork. Probably cherry wood. I like the lap joints. I have to make 3 Japanese style wood frames and this was inspiring and instructive. Many thanks!

1. Please don't add music to any DIY, demo, tour, cooking, or animal video. Natural sounds only. Its nice to hear the machines.
2. Hold off on pasting links on screen till AFTER we see the finished project to completion from all angles. That was premature.
Like the way u made the holes for those plugs gotta do that from now on!
Nice frame, good production on the video. Gonna get you some safety glasses for Christmas. ✌🏻🇺🇸
It's uncanny the eye you have for form and symmetry especially when working free hand. Your work is always unique, beautiful and to be envied. Thanks again for sharing with us.
Get a room, jesus christ
Get a life
All yours videos are very wonderful.
you're healing me on this rainy Friday. hello from france
Very cool ! HAPPY Thanksgiving to you and your family from the States
Yaaay Samurai!!!!
Wow, looks awesome
10 out of 10 Jesse. Beautiful 👍🏻🏴
You’re gonna give yourself carpal tunnel if you keep using your palms like that, don’t wanna see you outa action.
I agree. I work in an orthopaedic theatre and a lot of patients with carpal tunnel issues are men who use their hands for craft/work
Why is there nowhere on the makers mob site that tells you how much it is going to cost? Are you afraid that people won't sign up if they know how much it really is? What do you do with our details if we sign up, find out it's too costly, then don't want to pay? What are you hiding? "Join for free" .. "money back guarantee" .. ??
Can you please tell us what wood you used?
I have so much respect for your craft
just did the same thing with ebony plugs in the corner of a set of garage door panels i'm making... but william ng has a great video on doing those greene and greene plugs the easy way.. works like a charm, each plug is PERFECT and it literally takes half a minute each...
Do u have the plans for this?
hi. Nice Channlel, I subscribe. Do you have a video explainning the clamp device on 3:00 lol, seems interesting.
At the 10:00 mark you went from a router to a palm sander but I missed the switch and thougt for a moment you were holding the work in your left hand while routing it with your right.
Man I love this! inventive design! Curious: What kind of mortise chisel set are your using here?
You canooks love the square drive. I don’t get it. Torx is far superior
Gotta love Puget Sound! Where did you find that square punch? I want one!!!!
Where do I get a square hole punch?
I'm guessing from his morticing machine.
Lee Valley sells them.
Very nice job bro and like always smashing my like botton kaboooooooooooooom
MASTER
Thanks for the idea Samurai. I am about to make a diploma frame for my nephew, and I think he would like something non-traditional like this.
Well done Jesse. And thank you for sharing this gift to us. God Bless you and your family this Christmas.
Beautiful.
Every thing you make will last longer than you lol .
Beautiful frame!
kind of puts my new ikea map frame to shame, nice work as always
I'm not sure I like the asymmetry.
It looks like you did blacksmith joinery in wood. Nice.
