The chef is doing a great job at showing how to pan sear a moist and flavorful fish fillet in a very practical way .I definitely learned some good tips on pan grilling fish by watching her video .
my wife and I have been wanting to add Fish to our dinner rotation but thought it would be too hard to cook. Tonight we bought some Salmon and I followed your video and it came out awesome!! Now Fish will be in my family's diet!
I have not cooked fish for a long time so needed some guidance. I followed these instructions to the letter and the result was absolutely perfect. Thanks for this video.
Thank you for the fast, simple, video. My fish dinner for 3 turned out very nicely. I basically cooked breakfast or burgers for 50 years. Now I use internet to teach this old dog new tricks. Yum.
Susan I am a beginner cooker and I just started a new diet and I've NEVER cooked fish before and, mistakenly, I treated it like chicken. So you can take a guess how that went. But after that disaster I came right here and started over and my fish came out perfectly. Take you so much.
@@reducedtoatoms327 You can also eat Sardine from tinplate sometimes. They are good (not tasty but you can add into other food and also some tast makers). You can look up Dr. Berg on UA-cam talking about it.
saad alkuwari your comment cracked me up. My great aunt had a pair of those. Infact she had the heat resistant tongue and cast iron stomach to match. Must have caught a great sale
Nicely done..weather is getting warmer and I did not want to use my oven for baked fish..although I love that with the buttered bread crumbs (I use crushed croutons) but this recipe looks wonderful and easy..love the butter-lemon sauce..doing this tonight! It would be the best thing for cod and could not be easier !! Thank you !
Thank you so much for simple but helpful presentation. I am getting into fishes, been searching for helpful, none of then gave details as many you gave. Thank you again.
Yeah, this is one of those old school recipes that didn't say add cinnamon, cumin, dill, minced garlic, ginger, gold flakes, nutmeg, minced onions, paprika, rosemary, saffron, tarragon, thyme, turmeric, Old Bay Seasoning, butter only from cows in the Swiss Alps, lemons only from India, and all ingredients added at specific times during the cooking process. This was straight forward with the minimum required ingredients to give it great flavors.
Hi Chris - You can use the same pan, but take the fish out first. After it's cooked, add the spring onions (or finely sliced leeks) to the hot pan, maybe with a little extra oil or butter. They will cook very quickly and then just top the fish with the vegetable garnish. Enjoy!
Thank You for your video as it is EXCELLENT! :-) I recently have been diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic & I've watched numerous videos & your video's & complete commentary is by far the BEST! Thank You VERY MUCH as I'm no chef nor am I a great cook but this will definately help me succeed! Any videos you reccomend for diabetics would TOTALLY be awesome! Once Again THANK YOU SOO VERY MUCH! :-)
I usually use a little Zatarain's Creole seasoning, but you are right, it is as simple as just salt and pepper. I tried this today and it was great. The fish was Spanish Mackerel. Thanks for the video. Your presentation was very well done.
Expeller pressed canola oil is a really good choice, so is grapeseed oil. Neither of these have much flavor and both have higher smoke points than olive oil, so you'll enjoy cooking with them and won't have to worry about getting the pan too hot and smoking up the kitchen.
Thank you - we'll try it - my son does not eat fish - but after watching your video - he now wants to try - we'll use the same fish as yours for the best try out
thanx for posting your video. i have some flounder defrosting already in my fridge for tomorrows dinner.:) i usually bake my fish on 400 for 20 min. but its dry. i am excited about cooking it in a pan tomorrow
I think you are right, I tried putting the bare minimal butter and oil in and it was a lot faster. The first was Hake, quite large fillets as well. My pan that I use is a T-fal if that helps.
Brilliant! Although I don't mind batter I think it can sometimes be too heavy for the fish and ruin the delicateness of it, pan fried with a zest of lemon really is always a winner
I always recommend using unsalted butter, so then you can more easily control the amount of salt in your food. I use kosher salt and sprinkle a pinch on each side of the fillet. If you are sensitive to salt, just sprinkle one side. Hope that helps! Happy cooking!
There is a splatter guard that you can use. It is a round, flat mesh gadget with a handle that fits over the top of your pan. The downside, of course, is that you have to clean the splatter guard! Try using a bit less oil; this should help some. Unfortunately, some splattering can't be avoided all together.
Great video, trying this tomorrow as I just bought flounder and am relatively new to cooking fish. I've grilled it but it's way too cold for that now so was looking for a different way :D
Totally enjoyed the video. I actually added some extra pepper and Texas Pete's hotter hot sauce to it. I have thin walls so I'm sure my neighbors heard my flatulence.

Nice video. Not over-filled with nonsense. To the point, yet very informative with great tips. Off to the kitchen!...

I tried this method after watching this video 45 minutes ago. Simple but good. I really enjoyed it!!!
First video I've watched of you and I was mesmerised by your charm!
Thank you for this. I really needed because I am frying for the first time in my life lol. And I am a 31+ year old man lol. Thank you
Same, i used to deep fry food before I knew that deep frying adds a lot of calories to food and i decided to learn how to pan fry food instead

Thank you so much! I did this with tilapia fillets today and my family loved them. So simple. I used to always overcook fish or kill it with spices :)
I love talapia. Had it 2 days ago. Put it on top of cooked rice. Fab
Great video!! No B.S. straight to the point. I love you for that!! Very professional!!
You made it look so easy so I think I have enough confidence to do it correctly. I don't like messing around with flour and egg. Thanks!

Thank you classy lady. :D You're a good teacher.
I use a reasonably priced extra virgin olive oil for most cooking, however, olive oil and canola oil are also good choices.
Brain, butter. Thank you. The best stuff in the world for cooking fish.
I've always hated cooking fish but this was great advice and turned out beautiful. Thanks

I use a similar method for swordfish, I like to lay some asparagus around it to absorb some of the flavor from the pan.
Looks yummy. If only i could eat the fish now!!!
Old Bay seasoning is a classic on the East Coast for seafood. If you like it - great! It does add zest and interest to simple fish dishes.
