- Spring is in the air and it is time for the bird migration. Katie and I return to some of our favorite places and photograph some of our favorite subjects. Are we the real creatures of habit?

I would also say that sometimes we do not say Thank You, very often. So Thank You. Cheers!
So nice of you. Thank you my friend.
Katie there is this couple who are good friends of mine and when they have to go out into nature they are totally bored and not sucking up any of the surrounding beauty but they get back indoors to their electronic devices and a big smile comes across their faces. As you said when you out there in nature with Josh you are together whereas you may well be sitting close indoors on your devices but you are not connected and therefore not together, some of us are really changing our habits but not for the better, so glad you guys got your hobby and eachother.
"You have to see the world to understand it." (Hosteling, International) You two get it. :)
Thank you Mike. We’re figuring it out.
Thanks Josh and Katie. You 2 are terrific
Thank you so much 😊
this one...breath of fresh air!
Thank you David. Glad you enjoyed it.
This dual video with Katie is a winning combination. 🤌
Thank you. Katie is really doing a great job. I love her writing.
Thanks for my weekly fix Josh. It seems you now have the perfect partner to enjoy your passion. Thanks Katie for making this even better.
😃 she is the perfect partner. And she’s cute. 😍
Intoxicating videography! Super oration,
well done Josh and Katie!!
Thank you so much.
Thank you kindly Kev.
I think I have figured you and Katie out. It's your wonderfully slower Southern speech pattern that makes you two the relaxing and engaging presenters that we enjoy.
Yeah that southern drawl definitely sneaks out every now and then. We’re glad you find it relaxing. 😄
That Eastern Towhee in the rain picture is wonderful. Perfect video for the end of the work week, Thanks Josh and Katie!
Thank you so much.
Yup, and so are the birds you are looking for ! 🙂
Yes they are! 🙂
Fun to watch...with a bit of spiritualty makes the outdoors magical. Looking forward to your next video you two!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it. thank you so much Cesar.
I have a bad knee, so I can't walk as much as I use to be, but your video are pushing me out of my chaire an want to go outside again, thanks
You can do it!🙂
Another Great video, great pictures as well. I'm glad to see the two of you loving spending time together and doing something you both enjoy doing. Katie another great insight. Have a Great week and I will see you next week.
Thank you. We’re having fun for sure.
Bayou Josh. Putting out great content as usual. I like your introspective narration.
We sure appreciate it. Thank you so much.
Loved the shot with the raindrops
Thank you! That was a fun moment.
@@BayouJosh brilliant shot Josh. Your videos just keep getting better, the voice overs from Katie are great as well. Well done the both of you
Master Story telling complimented by the amazing video and stills. Thanks for sharing 👍
So nice of you, thank you my friend.
Pure bliss! Its meditation to watch your videos, those soft voices of you two somehow calm the mind. And then of course there are those beautiful images and video work!
Great going, god bless you both!
Thank you my friend. We really enjoy making them.
Thank you kindly, Mandar. We appreciate your encouragement.
Beautiful video. Really makes my day and gets me inspired, thank you!
Mission accomplished! Inspiration is the goal. So glad you enjoyed it my friend
Beautiful to follow Katie and you on your big journey full of photography and, from my point of view, also somehow philosophical in a way you bring it to the point! Like that very much - please go on.
Cheers from Germany!
Thank you so much! thank you for tagging along
Hello Josh and Katie, thank you for sharing your trip. You are producing wonderful pictures and you are really connected to nature. Sometimes the weather is not our friend but there is no bad weather only bad cloths. Have a great time, best regards from Germany.
I love that saying. I need to upgrade my clothes for sure. Thank you my friend.
Have to hand it to you again , brilliant so addictive such relaxing entertainment wells done to you both on such a great video
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you Neil.
What a Great joy to watch your videos! 😍
We appreciate it. Thank you
Great video and quite a collection of birds and super shots.
Many thanks!
Wanna thank you for making these videos and giving us ideas and your aspect of wildlife and photography, great channel and positive attitude
Thank you so much. We are just doing what we love.
That towhee is a stunner!
😃 thank you n
Great perspective, Josh. The only bad photo is one we don't go out to take. Katie is a great addition to the channel. Aaaaand yes, We are definitely impatient. lmao. Cheers man
Thank you so much. We’re having fun 🤩
Great video, Josh. Glad you and your other half are enjoying the wonderful outdoors together.
Thank you Victor. We are having a wonderful time.
Amazing video you guys. Love the photos and scenery
Thank you Rob. We really appreciate it.
There is no bad weather, only wrong clothes! lol
that's a tag line for your clothing line. good stuff. 😄
great quote!
Would be worth considering. lol@@BayouJosh
Love to see /hear you both ! So true about nature..I really like spring and always amazed to see the nature change day after day, the wildlife is all over..simply great!
Our pleasure! so true about spring. day to day changes. Until it's just hot! 😄
another great video guys, i'm a big fan of the drone footage , and also glad your wife is now joining in on the videos.
Thank you Todd. The drone I really does add another element.
Another fine video. Will be looking out for the next.
Thank you so much Edward. We sure appreciate it.
Love it!
Thank you so much
Beautiful 💖💖
Thank you my friend.
Thank You. Great video as always, the Drone footage was outstanding, you guys live in a beautiful place! One of the reasons I like your channel so much is because you don't spend a lot of time talking gear. BUT, be forewarned, the new 800PF will give you everything a bird photog could want, lightweight/compact, sharp, fast with loads of reach at a comparatively reasonable price!! Mine arrived today, and I was able to photograph perched Barred Owls at a local park. Great to have Katie narrating as well!
I’m sure it’s a great lens.
damn, you folks have quickly become one of my favorite follows. and Katie's voice is killer !!! and more SHCs please :)
Thank you. We love those SHCs
Beautiful as always.
Thank you so much.
Warblers are here! Spotted a few Audobon's Yellow Rumped Warblers on the greenbelt through Garden City on Wednesday. There was a flock of American White Pelicans hanging out in the same area too. Pretty cool to see.
Wow! Pelicans? I got to go check that out.
Gen 2: 18 The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” .... a "helper?" God made a garden a perfect place of nature and put the man in there and he needed a "helper?" not a wife... but a "helper?" because man needed help? It's so lovely to see both going out to make images and immerse in the beautiful garden outside and thank you for taking me out there in the vast garden to name and witness all the creatures therein. Please thank Katie for her images, sometimes Katie's images are better than Josh's ....... to see what your eyes have seen; to share with us and the work you guys put into is precious to me sitting in a cubicle watching your videos during my QT break of 15mins in the office. Thank you.
Katie and I were certainly made for each other.
@@BayouJosh You guys are awesome! btw, Katie's narration and insight is so great.
Your wife adds a nice aspect to your videos, bravo! ✌
thank you so much. We are having fun.
Very good you two.
thank you Don.
Another beautiful video! Your videos always inspire me to get out there a take some pictures!
That’s the best news ever Patricia. Thank you so much.
I thoroughly enjoy your videos. Your images and your footage are so engaging and genuinely inspiring, and the narration is always delightful. And boy, the clip and the image beginning at 4:04 are stunning! Love the ending, too: "Watch this video; it's a good one. Other people liked it; I liked it." 🙂
Thank you kindly. Towhees are so cool
Thank you so much Peter. Much appreciated 😃
@@buttonlover86 I used to laugh at bird watchers. I don’t anymore!
Nice video, and great colors. I love it.
Thank you! Cheers!
Yes, you two are blessed to find a hobby that you both enjoy!! I'm liking the two part format half Josh half Mrs Katie..You said it well Mrs Katie, humans belong outdoors!! People have no clue what they are missing and Josh never stop shooting ducks, I catch a lot of heat for shooting so many ducks but I love to do it...nice shots from you both...keep exploring and shooting!!
We certainly are lucky that we have each other. thank you as always.
@@BayouJosh 👍
That was a beautiful presentation - the narration with the photography . Touched my heart.
Thank you so much 😊
Great Video, nice photo’s of the Birds in the rain 👍 Dull, Grey & Wet, welcome to English weather. The only thing predictable, is having to clean and dry your kit afterwards, that’s a whole Video on it’s own 🤣 Keep well & stay safe. 👍🇬🇧
Makes for an interesting outing for sure. thank you David.
Wow, beautiful location and gr8 images.❤️🙏
I am still here and enjoying every minute of your videos. I can understand your passion. Just starting birding and wished had done it sooner. Have a great weekend.
It’s never too late to start a new hobby! I highly recommend birding to anyone looking for a new one. It has brought us a lot of joy.
I recently retired and this hobby has kept me busy with feeding birds and finding them for my eBird life list. Loving the challenge. Live in Ontario Canada and no shortage of birds here. Thanks for your response and keep doing what you do.
And it’s a beautiful lifelong hobby. It’s not like you’ll ever grow out of it.
I really enjoyed the images from this video. You guys took some good photos on a gloomy day. Thanks for sharing. Great video.
Thank you so much it was a challenge but fun!
Hi you two nice video as always, I think the birds are late plus the weather hasn't been the best here in the UK, stay safe...
Thank you my friend. I’m always overly optimistic on timing. Maybe next weekend.
i watch ur videos frequently, i like it
thank you my friend.
Very insightful video. Too bad for the rain but I did like the photo. Enjoyed the river valley shots.
Glad you enjoyed it. thank you,
I was just talking about this with one of my birder friends....I was telling her I was planning to search for warblers this weekend (I am in the northeast) ...and she was saying that its the most common birder mistake ...its too soon..we all think its in April but ,,,....and sure enough , when I go back to my photos of warblers last year they are dated 2-3 weeks from now...I guess we suffer from "FOMO " ...maybe they will be early,...just for me ....
That is true. I came across one lone bunting last year the third week of April and I had to remind myself that I didn’t see another one for two weeks.
Earth day is my birthday. I love your videos.
Happy birthday!
Thank you
Nice💚
Thank you my friend
The story aspect of this channel is seriously one I absolutely love on top of the photos shared. Now we have 2 narrators as of recently and it has absolutely been a joy and adds a little more color to a painting that didn’t know it need that extra splash of paint, but definitely made it more vibrant.
So glad you’re enjoying it Daniel. We sure enjoy making them.
you guys are so good..
Thank you so much my friend
Another great adventure Josh. Loved your piece Katie, beautiful words and pictures.
😀 thank you
New subscriber here: a lovely and introspective vlog. More please! 👍🏼🤗👌🏼
Thank you so much! You’re so kind.
"His energy and enthusiasm are contagious". Yep thats it right there. Thanks for your inspirational guidance from the ordinary. Ill be hopefully getting the 200-600 next week when im on vacation. Hopefully ill capture something ive longed for.
Good luck on your vacation! Thanks for tagging along this week.
@@BayouJosh always brother and sister! Thanks for the Friday motivation
Love your videos and comments. For me it is more about the experience than the results. I have been taking photos sine the mid 1960's and it is still to go out and TRY to photograph something from a different perspective. My wife and I have been into photography for 60 years together so I have resigned myself to the fact I will probably never be able to capture something new, but that still wont prevent me from trying.
It’s still such a rewarding hobby. Even if you photograph the same bird 1000 times.
There's always something new. I've been doing it for 40 years, and still love it to bits. Maybe it's time to try nudes or something... 😅
@@peterfritzphoto Might be something to consider, right after divorce court.
2nd person to comment .... I'll leave my real comment at the end!
There is something comforting about going to the same places as you've been before, to see the things you've seen before. But going somewhere new can be exciting BUT then what if you get nothing? you'd have got something if you went to the old faithful spots, BUT then you'd end up with the same images as the last time you were there! ...... And the cycle of confusion helps! Really enjoying Katie's parts as well! (Josh's parts are good as well, don't worry Josh, I'm still a fan!)
Oh and p.s, glad you made it back from the 1st mile of that hike in the other video! 😂
That really sums it up. We just committed to do a little of both. We love venturing out though. It never disappoints. Thank you as always.
@@BayouJosh yep we are very much the same, being out is just a good old fashioned reset switch! Enjoyed it as always!
Some people are adventurous and others are resistant to trying anything new.
Great Images...
So true. thank you Roy.
OMG - you and Katie are even starting to *sound* like each other ... lol. Another great video guys - I loved it.
😆 Not surprised. we've been together for 27 years.
@@BayouJosh - neither one of you look old enough for that - but congrats. It is so wonderful to see when love goes right.
Well, I learned something today. I had no idea birds would come back to the same tree and even the same branch. And here I was thinking it was neat that the same gray catbird came back to my backyard every year.
Good stuff Josh!!
Appreciate it Ted. Thank you ,
The combination of the two of you, as well as the combination of photographic philosophy with storytelling - it‘s inspiring and heart-warming. Thank you for that.
That means a lot Thomas. Thank you my friend. We’re having a great time producing it.
Great job, really loved the photos at 4.11 and 4:12. Weather has been similar in Colorado but we are starting to break out of it....
Thank you Shadd. much appreciated. Clear days ahead hopefully. 🙂
Woah! Some of the compositions were totally new to me and gave me some more creative freedom.
I’m stuck in a rut but when the warblers arrive in Sweden. This year I’ll capture as many as I can. (Of course they will always have a leaf or a branch covering there faces)
thank you my friend. Glad it was helpful.
Great work guys, thanks again
Thank you too! 😀
The two of you make such a great team! I am amazed at how much the two of you have grown since I started watching your channel. Thank you!
Thank you Dan. We are really having a good time.
Awesome video
Thank you so much Abdul
Nice & beautiful video
Thank you so much 😊
Love the way you guys do the story telling !
Thank you so much Elias. Have a wonderful day! 😊🦋🌈❤️☮️☀️🦚🦉
We’re having a great time! Thank you so much.
Really loved the Towhee shots. Like you we have had little success with the migratory birds so far. Two weekends at the Bonnet Carre Spillway have given us some awesome opportunities for photos of eagles. I did not find Painted Buntings there, but others had better luck spotting them further along River Road. Tomorrow Rhonda and I will strike out in a different direction to see if we can find some Roseate Spoonbills and possibly some gators. It has been too long since we photographed either. Thank you for sharing your adventures.
I miss the Roseate Spoonbills! They’re so cool! I hope y’all find some.
Good luck on your adventure. Those spoonbills are fun to photograph.
Make a trip down to Jefferson Island in June. You will have so many spoonbills. Watch out for the alligators though. Only about a 2 Hour Drive from Baton Rouge.
The ducks are on the pond, the eaglets are in the nests and the fawns will soon be hiding in the weeds. Spring.
So true.
Another great video. We are used to it being grey in the U.K 🤣
Thank you 🙏 It’s been a grey spring.
As far as people and the outdoors its really quite simple. Human beings are solar powered. Dull gloomy weather gets us down. Bright sunshine outdoors brings out the best in people. It doesn't matter if it's cold as long as its sunny.
Excellent video and beautiful scenes.
Thank you to both of you.
I love that! Human beings are solar powered. Well said.
thanks so much, yes there is something about those FOS yes we see them every year at the same time same perch but always looking forward for them and feel sad if they don't show up in time, just like an old friend. or a dear person. also love migration and it also taking place now here of the eastern side of the red sea, many thousands miles away form you.
thanks again.
Well said.
I think you guys should get to the end of that trail. Probably something is waiting for you there.
One day my friend. 😃
Love gloomy, gross days. It's the only way I can be by myself in the wild. Thanks for sharing.
You and me both. 😀
Great one! Video editing details would be great.;-)
Noted! Thank you. 😃
Very beautiful and interesting video!!! Wonderful shooting of birds!! 😍
Subscribed your channel and like 👍
Thank you my friend. We sure appreciate it.
The beauty of your video is not just visuals of great nature, but the commentary that makes it great. I am now seeing second time. I appreciate for the great effort you put for final output!
Wow, thank you! I appreciate you saying that. Thank you so much.
I have the Sony a7iv with the 200-600 g lens and a Dolan pro camo sleeve 😁
That’s a great camera. We just picked up another one of those. That’ll be our second video camera.
You should set up a camouflaged waterproof hide to catch birds for days like this. Yes you'll be sick to one spot but not as vulnerable to the elements, but an idea none the less. Cool landscapes in the serving half of the video narrated by Katie. Just keep a couple extra gas cans filled in your vehicle in case you go too far off the beaten track and get stuck and need to keep the engine running to stay warm. I wouldn't say it's sage advice, more oregano, basil or thyme...
That’s a great idea. I like hanging out inside a cozy little tent when it’s raining. 😊❤️🌈🌈☮️🪶🦋🦉☀️
@@buttonlover86 you just want snuggle time... I see right through you, despite the camouflage! 🤣😂
@@spidersj12 you might be right. 😊🌈☮️🦋
😆 oregano advice. I love it.
Ah thanks again, both. If you think that weather is rubbish, you should visit the UK. There's a reason why we are always discussing the weather 😬
I've heard stories.
No, thank you Josh. Gives us something calm and nice to watch and listen to. Always look forward to that notification. I also too go out with my wife as I got her into shooting as well.
It's very much a better time with us both out there.
It is so fulfilling when you can enjoy it with someone you love. 😀 Thank you Steve.
Another spectacular video. These are just wonderful, as everyone in the comments mentions, it's such a pleasure to join you on your adventures. You're calming approach and philosophical observations make these videos and your channel very unique and a real joy to be a part of. Thank you :)
You are very kind Chris. I appreciate you saying that. We Put a lot of work into it and we certainly enjoy it.
Good video!
Thank you kindly. 😊❤️🌈🦋☮️🦚🐿🦉☀️
Thank you David
Lovely way to end my week! Now where will I go to do some birding and photography this weekend.
?
Have fun exploring Patricia. Thanks for making us a part of your day.
You’re early- we still have buntings here in s e Florida! Patients!
Yeah! I was thinking about calling this video the impatient photographer. I’m definitely impatient.
@@BayouJosh I totally get that - same here! Ps love that you and the wife share the narrative! I enjoy the channel very much!
lovely session - really enjoy the commentary too :)
Josh and Katie, Nature and Poetry Loving Soulmates. - Since Katie narrates the 2nd half of the video, I can’t wait for a rename of the channel into „Bayou Josh and Katie“ or so 🤗😇
We’re working through those logistics right now. It’s coming.
Or "Bayou Katie and Josh"? 😆
@@christinepepper4053 😂. That would be perfect for Katie‘s channel. 😉. But here? No gender or equal rights discussion, pls consider I’m thinking like Mr. Spock 🖖: First it was Josh‘es channel and Katie‘s narration was added a few videos ago. So, Josh and Katie would be logical. Live long and prosper 🖖.
Again a nice video, great storytelling and very nice that Katie has time to tell her story now in video also, looking forward to next week
Have a nice weekend Josh and Katie :)
Take care
Ronny
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you Ronny.
I have to hand it to you. When the weather is bad here in the UK I use it as an excuse to sit at the computer processing all those images I already have but feel might need repolishing!!!
Don’t get us wrong brother. It’s not easy to get out in those nasty conditions. Those two minutes of video is about as long as we spent out there. Get some footage and go.
Right back at you two with the gratitude. Being an outdoor photographer and now flat on my back with a very sore hip, I really appreciate being on your hikes and seeing the outdoors while I’m flat on my back in my bedroom.
This isn’t permanent, the plan is get out there once the pain subsides.
We hope you get better soon Tim. Thanks for making us a part of your day.
good job!
Thank you very much David. 😊❤️🌈🦋☮️🦚🦉☀️
Thank you so much David.
