Katie and I have really been enjoying using the BlackRapid Strap camera straps. Here’s a discounted link if you’d like to buy one!
huntsphotoandvideo.com/detail_page.cfm?productid=401002&mfg=BlackRapid&show=yes&sp=Ow2nF
Got mine a couple of years ago and do find it considerably more comfortable than the traditional style.
Best straps made, I have a hand strap and a nice neck strap for big, heavy setups
Life is so short. Great to see a couple ‘living while they’re alive’. Apologies for all the comment spam! 😜
Peter, I do the same thing when I really like somebody. I leave in multiple comments. So I really appreciate how you did that there. Have a wonderful day
@@buttonlover86 LOL. Good to hear. Thx, Katie. 😄
Best line of the whole video: “These sticks sharper better than ever with the new camera gear”
Right! Definitely did not make me a better photographer. Just a tool in the bag.
Bayou Josh 😂 true
You speak the truth of bird photography. Knowledge is important, but patience is essential. And luck, too!
So many essential components to the craft.
Awesome video! This really is one of the best times of the year for birding photography
The woodpecker was amazing! Never seen that one before, a stunning bird
Thank you Ryan. It really is an amazing time. And yes. That little woodpecker is pretty cool.
I’m so glad Katie is your ‘best friend’. You have a great attitude toward life. You’re the real deal.
We appreciate you sharing each week
So nice of you
Very nice quality! Awesome video
Thank you my friend. I appreciate it.
Amen Brother.....I don't know the names of all the birds I get photos of, and at 70 it is unlikely I will remember them, but to sit there and watch them is a great moment in time, and the greatest level of enjoyment I get.
Indeed! Thank you John
John. I'm 20 years younger and I forget to take my lunch to work 🤣
Josh and Kate. I enjoy the stories and down to earth attitude. All ways make me happy. 👍
Migration is the best time for birders. Great birding trip. This moose sighting was an extra bonus. 👍
Thank you Thomas. That was a great bonus.
...and thank you too for sharing such great stories, video, and images!
😀
Another great one 👌.
Thank you my friend
Great video Josh, it's always nice sharing a passion with someone, like you with Katie.
Thank you my friend. Katie and I are really enjoying this beautiful hobby.
Well, … thank you too. Amazing pics!
Glad you enjoyed it
It's the best hobby out there!!
Indeed!
@@BayouJosh 👍
You're Welcome!!
😀
Thanks so much for sharing another wondeful video
Glad you enjoyed it
I find myself getting frustrated I think because I have a deep desire to get better. I need to feel progression in my photography which sometimes takes away from the experience of being out and about. Your videos help me to reflect so sincerely, thank you. You're so lucky to have Katie to share it with. Feel blessed. Life is good.
You are not alone in those feelings James. That sentiment is why I post videos like this. We all go through those feelings. Especially us men. We have this insatiable desire to always improve.
I love the variety of birds in your region. Real nice!
We are very lucky to have such a great variety.
"Sticks look sharper than ever with this new gear." My sticks look sharp all the time, new gear or not!. I get a sharp bird every now and then, when a bird sits still like a stick!
😆 Right!
happy, happy :D
😀
Hello Katie and Josh, thank you for the wonderful video. You are generating great pictures with your passion. And always, relax 😀. Best regards from Germany.
Thank you so much Johannes. We appreciate it
Great as always
Thank you Tom.
The challenge of getting a good photo of a warbler is what makes this birding thing so much fun! That Bullock’s Oriole is sublime 👍🏻
Warblers are so fun!
Never miss ur video. and the LEWIS'S WOODPECKER was just awesome. keep up the good work.
Awesome! Thank you my friend.
Another great video! Glad you are enjoying the Sony! Patience is something I think we all need to work on but the birds need to work on being nicer and kinder to us!
🙂
Hey, Thank you, for the insight into your world of Nature. Keep well and Stay safe 👍🇬🇧
Thanks, you too!
Take it your advice is to STICK at it. You need to come to Scotland our sticks over here are outstanding. Love the video you and Katie keep up the good work.
Hi really know how to take a pictures of sticks. Masterful really. 😀
since im missing the summer in alaska this year i will have to keep watching your videos
When the stick is in the way, single point will cut through to the bird. O.k. if you're after a 'perfect' image, you have to be patient and hope there's a view with no sticks but sometimes you just don't get that second/third chance and if it's a rare bird, or even just something you'd really like to get that day, well, it's an option. Yeah, you already know this but maybe someone here doesn't. I recently cut through twenty foot of reedbed to get a Reed Warbler doing just that and it was so much more fun than the ones where a bird shows well. And it's always good to have that hobby which gives us not just a release from the daily grind but makes us smile. I no longer have to suffer the daily grind but when I did, i cherished my moments with nature so much. It's also so much easier being nice to other people when you're happy yourself. Keep the videos coming, they're great to watch. Regards, Mark.
Thanks for the advice Mark and thanks for tagging along.
Nice and beautiful video.
Thank you my friend
I like taking photo birds, Thanks Josh.
Your welcome, but really thank you for putting out such relaxing informative videos.
Glad you like them! Our pleasure.
Anybody can get great shots of birds and wildlife, but only the best of us can get detailed, fully focused shots of sticks!! Sticks and animal butts are my specialty...along with an out of focus picture of wildlife perfectly positioned. Another great video Josh/Katie! Beautiful shots of beautiful birds!! (Thanks for the tip on the strap...going to have to check that out!)
don't get me started on bird Butts. I think that will be my first book! Bird butts. My quest for the perfect Avian backside! 😆
That’s funny 😆 Same here.
Thanks very much for adding the identifications.
You’re welcome. It was fun.
We need more humility in the world. Good job dude.
Thank you my friend.
another great video Josh, I do love going along with you and Katie. I have fished that river a hundred times, great trout stream.
Isn’t that one of the most beautiful Rivers ever!
I’ll keep watching your videos not because of your gear, but because I like you, and I like your content. Keep doing you my friend.
Thanks brother. What if I start driving a Chevy truck though? Then will you be my friend 😂
@@BayouJosh sorry dude, that’s a line I won’t cross. 🤣😂
Outstanding video Josh & Katie. Very relaxing to watch. Awesome photos and video. Loved the Lewis's Woodpecker flying onto the branch.
Thank you so much Rob. Time for you to start your channel. Storm chasing and bird photography
@@BayouJosh Yes, funny you mention that because that channel is in the works. I was going to reach out to you soon about that.
Awesome as always,
Thank you Bill.
Interesting content thanks you so much for this adventure experience
So nice of you. thank you,
great pictures really, thanks so much.
Glad you like them! Thank you,
A very zen-like video that I thoroughly enjoyed. Peak season for osprey and great blue herons nest building just ended here and now it is yellow fly season. They're so bad I armored up with fly hat, gloves, long sleeve shirt and lots of OFF for one last visit to a couple osprey nests. Thought I looked ridiculous but it worked so well I didn't even mind the relative lack of birds on the outing. My zen moment was watching all those little yellow vampires go hungry:)
It is definitely bug season! They can make a beautiful outing a miserable outing. Luckily it’s not so bad right here right now.
Superb sentiments, great video. You are really selling me on a trip to Idaho!!!
Thanks Brian, Not a bad place to spend a lifetime.
Stay happy! I tend to use my tripod only when i have a fixed focal point like a nest I’m watching. Otherwise they are cumbersome.
If I didn't do youtube, I would likely never use it.
Getting here a few days late but great video. Patience, indeed. Felt like I got rewarded last night as I witnessed not one but three Barred Owlets fledging their nest. My footage and shot’s weren’t up to Bayou Josh’s standard but, man, was it cool to see these birds take their first steps out into the big world. Thank you both for the continued effort with these videos.
So fun! Glad you got to have that experience.
Thank you Josh! Every single video you make relates so much to the struggles and frustrations we go through, people see the pictures but they never comprehend the anxiety and frustration but at the same time the satisfaction you get when you get that shot you wanted after doing the countless hours of research and going back to the same spot time after time. Thanks for being an awesome story teller in a world not many comprehend!
Thank you my friend. I’m glad it hit home.
This is some of the best scouting info I've gleaned in the past three months. We had the Yellows, Wilsons & YR warblers here until last week. And the BH Grosbeaks were here three weeks ago. Good to know and thank you for the vids Josh
Glad it was helpful!
Loving the vids man.... I wish I loved anything as much as you love birds :)
Glad you like them! I do love birds!
Wonderful video and thank you so much for sharing. I 100% agree with you spring migration is the most exciting time for birding. This is only my second year of birding, this year I saw 16 warblers, 5 vireos, 2 orioles, 1 grosbeak and 1 tanager in my area (Missouri). I can't wait seeing them again next year.
Wow! That is a banger season. So fun!
Patience is my least cultivated quality as well. Here in Ecuador we have the advantage of being in season all year round. There are migratory birds and breeding seasons here too but it is not as pronounced as in North America. My wife and I went out today for about an hour within a couple miles of our home and we saw at least 15 different species, three of which I had no seen before. Now I just hope the photos turn out!
Lucky!!! I need to come to Ecuador.
🤩🤩🤩
Nice video as always Josh!
Glad you enjoyed it. thank you Leo.
Both of you always seem to put a smile on my face. The bird images are icing on the cake. Thank you for sharing your moments in nature.
So glad you enjoy them.
Great stuff...when I'm on a slump few of your videos does the trick..hi from the UK
Glad to help
Just love your videos and images.❤️🙏
I'm new to the channel but have to say I truly appreciate your videos and they've inspired and made me rethink my current methods!
Thanks Andrew. I'm just having Fun.
@@BayouJosh well your work is amazing! Much respect to you!
I love that you used the thumbnail I wanted. I like seeing your smiling face.
I smile because of you! I love you.
@@BayouJosh you are a flirt
Interesting thoughts and wonderful video as always :)
Ronny //
Thank you Ronny. I appreciate it
I like a sharp stick🤣
😆
there is a calming of the soul if you will to commune with nature, awesome video
like you two I also have been trying to grow my collection of birds, its too addicting
I find my self using a monopod more often than not
Indeed.
i can't wait to get my first telephoto lens, so I can try wildlife photography.
It changes everything!
Very calming and well done video, thank you
Dudette Katie, get a monopod and Gimbal head. Sirui make some great affordable Carbon Fibre ones. It will really ease up the shooting. Glad you are enjoying the new kit Dude Josh . Down here in the tropics I am waiting for winter time, which is migration season for us. This will be my first time trying to get some birding images with my 810 and 200-500.
You guys always remind us of the truly important stuff!! It’s so easy to have doubts in our photography journeys, but then I click on your videos and find myself smiling the entire time. Beautiful video. Thank you for the inspiration!
That makes me so happy! Thank you so very much
Lol.I love the perfectly focused sticks. Gee, I’m glad that never happens to me! Just like I’m glad my cats aren’t spoiled rotten. I am So Kidding of course. Happens all the time. Working words are often in focus at those times too. You do great work. Keep working for that one good shot a day. I hope to come home tomorrow with one shot I don’t hate. Thanks for bringing us along.
It just takes one shot!
Lots of variety...of sticks!! Great video as always!
😀
Great video keep up the good work
Appreciate it
Loved this one, birds make me happy too. Those Bullock’s images are amazing
Aren't they beautiful!
I haven't learned the sit and wait thing yet. 😂 I am always moving around.
it's like torture for me! 😆
Thank you and Katie! Your videos give a great escape into a part of nature I love more and more each day. This video captures the way I feel about this time of year to a T. I made my trip to Tawas Point for the bird show but missed the peak migration a little I think. Still was able to shoot some beautiful birds as in the Yellow, Magnolia, Nashville, and a Prothonotary Warblers as well as a Northern Perula even though the battery in the camera decided to die before I could get a sharp shot. Had some Orioles stop by as in the Baltimore and the Orchard as well as a Eastern Wood-pewee and a King Bird. At the end of the walk around the park a Scarlet Tanager gave some poses too. Was so very peaceful to walk along the shores of the Great Lake Huron on a sunny day. Back near home when I took the dog for a walk on a nature trail a couple weeks back I unknowingly hit a hot spot going through a peak migration period along he southern part of the Saginaw Bay of Lake Huron. I was thrilled to be lost in that world of birds with my best little buddy walking beside me. Thanks again for your continued devotion to our wonderful natural world.
such a wonderful experience. so many awesome birds.
You are AMAZING Josh! Thank you for lots of inspirastion.
You are! thank you so much.
Will they Migrate back to the same area in the fall? One of the days I am going to make it out to Loess Bluffs National Wildlife Refuge. Major migration of snow geese and eagles. Thanks for share yours and Katie's story. It is amazing to hear them each week.
Sometimes we will see them in the fall but they don't stick around in one spot. they pass through very fast. Small window.
yea yea .. bird, bird, bird .. bla bla. I'm here for the scenery ... LOL. Some really beautiful stuff you two. By the way - think I'm going to order some of that foam tape - ty (for both the video and the link) Best always to you both, Ched
you're the best Charles. thank you my friend.
Your videos always make me smile and I learn a ton! Thank you for putting these together and I look forward to each upload.
Glad you like them Christopher. thank you,
My pleasure.. stopping by.. there's a lot of dross out there bud..LOL We pick people who do a little talking and more shootintg against the
ones who are too full of themselves that they just talk 90 percent and shoot 10.
I sure appreciate it Chris. thanks for tagging along.
Danke!
Just found your channel yesterday and I’ve been binging ever since keep up the good work your photography really connects to me :)
Well thank you Tyler. So glad to hear you’re enjoying them.
Nice video. The birds are moving through Boise right now, and the opportunities are amazing.
Yes they are! Such a wonderful time.
Thank you for these wonderful videos you and Katie make together. Always with positivity, passion and genuine love for nature and photography. Much enjoyed and appreciated.
Our pleasure! thank you for watching.
I agree, Josh, birds photography does make me happy. But this spring I have missed the entire migration season because of health problems. Got some backyard shots and pond shots and making myself be happy with those. At least I can walk all the way around the pond now (.6 mile) and get a few same oh same oh shots. And I am OUTSIDE. You keep on shooting, Josh, and I'll keep on enjoying your work.
So sorry to hear about those health problems. I hope you get better soon.
I get frustrated at my camera a lot I use to have a good one but had to sale it a few years back now I have a cheap Walmart one and it just doesn’t work but I work with what I got and love watching them with my kids
😀 it is frustrating when they don’t do what you want
Really appreciate your videos mate! Keep it up! 👌📸
Glad you like them! Thank you ,
Yep, time to give Katy equal billing on the vlog. 🐦🐦
Oh yes!
It is so funny how we all get those moments ... and thank you to you as well to take time to make these vidéos!
Glad we are not alone.
I want to thank you for your dependability of putting out a video Every Week. I can't imagine the time and consistent effort it takes to do that. Plus it is always good content. I really look forward to Fridays for my vicarious adventure with you and Katie. You and Katie have a blessed day.
I appreciate that! thank you my friend.
Thank you and Kate for sharing your experiences. Always so enjoyable.
Thank you Thomas. We appreciate you joining us each week.
A lot of great shots! Looks like it was a great day. Your right, that canyon area is really beautiful!
Yes it was! Thank you my friend.
Just fantastic ! Great captures Josh and lovely locations. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it
Another Great video and Great photos. It's nice to see the two of you out and about enjoying life doing things you both enjoy doing. It shows. You thank us for spending our time with you but I think its the other way around. Thank you for sending your time in a manner that allows us to spend time with the two of you. So Thank You.
Our pleasure! Thank you Rob.
Thank you for letting us tag along! I’ve gotten older, along with lack of stamina during this long pandemic. Couldn’t hack the hiking to those neat places you take me to. Another very enjoyable video.
You are so welcome Edward. thank you for always tagging along.
What a great Video! They are so nice and grounding and I look always forward to the next video you guys create!
Best wishes from Germany!
Thank you so much Noah.
So relaxing to watch this video! Just remember to capture the moment because you never know if it will be the last time you will be able to return to that special place! And if you are like me, when the wildlife doesn’t cooperate, my wife makes a wonderful subject to shoot in that beautiful outdoor environment.
Yes! great advice.
Nice one Josh,, I’m a firm believer in just sitting and waiting.. Relaxing as you say.. I know I’ll miss getting shots of alot of birds, but the shots I do get are keepers.. Good things come to those that wait..Oh and Thank you and Katie for all your doing for us..
I admire people who can just sit and wait. My body starts twitching around my attention span goes to nothing. I really need to work on that. Thanks as always Jamie.
Thank you josh, I love your videos I could relate, and yes sitting and waiting really pays of
Thank you so much Sammy.
Another wonderful video! I look forward to your videos more than new episodes of my favorite tv shows😂 I guess this challenging frustrating hobby is what we live for. Can’t wait for the next episode
Yay! Thank you! You made my day.
I appreciate this video for exquisite picture quality and beautiful framing. It is both entertaining and educative. I admire your constant efforts for excellence. Thanks.
You’re very kind. Thank you my friend
You have a great voice for a narration... You should do some movies/documentaries voice over :o)
You are very kind. I struggle to get a video out each week much less take time for narrations and my regular job and chores. 😅 oh my goodness I have too much going on.
Love your channel! I never considered a big camera/lens for birding, but since watching your channel, hmmm..... very tempted. Ofc I can't afford Sony A1, but Katie's A74 may be. Make more videos about it, please .... Setting, result, and how easy/hard for a beginner. Thank you!
Thank you Sandy. I'm taking notes on the cameras and working through the pros and cons. That video is coming soon.
The A7iv is the best camera I’ve ever had and it’s easy. I’m not even really into photography as much as Josh is so I refuse to spend a ton of time learning all the features and stuff. But I can take pictures and videos, I do know all about ISO and shutter speed and what’s the third one? Aperture but I don’t usually mess with that one. I’m still learning. I learned using auto ISO is not a good idea.
@@buttonlover86 Thanks for answering! I would love to see you more in a video about gear too🙏
I absolutely enjoy watching your videos. I love listening to the stories you and your wife share and about the areas you venture off to. Being a fellow Idahoan it makes me thrilled to know there are wonderful places to explore in our state. Thank you for being so consistent with putting your adventures on UA-cam. I look forward to watching each one of them and I learn a lot from them too. Cheers!
You are so sweet Kathy! So much more left to see. We can’t wait to get out and explore every week. Thanks for tagging along with us.
