    "Just go" is one of the best advice one can get. Don't overanalyze too much. Go and make the best of it. Grab that coffee and camera bag and just go. 90% miss with the photos is most likely what will happen, but being out in nature and just listening to the birds when the sun comes up is 100% win every time.

    It is about the experience of being there and enjoying the natural world. You don't always have to take a photograph sometimes just stop, look and listen and relax. It is amazing what your senses will reveal to you. Thanks for the video.

    Hey Josh, love your videos. Been a fan for a bit.
    I want to share a tip I got from a fellow wildlife photographer, and it comes from something I saw in this video shooting from the driver’s seat (or passenger). Get yourself a piece of foam pipe insulation 18-24” and split it down the middle. Then, when you’re shooting from the car, use it on the edge of your window glass as a pad to soften the contact between the camera/lens and the car window. I thought that was a very clever idea. Then you can move the window up and down to adjust your photo angle with a little more ease of knowing your gear is protected.
    Love your channel and great evolution of your vids over the years. Keep up the great work. I’ll definitely be watching!

Several months back, in a busy suburban neighborhood in the middle of the largest intersection (8 lane each way); all the traffic was stopped for a mother C. geese with her 7 ducklings crossing the intersection diagonally. Not one of the cars honked but with smiles and gently waiting until the whole family made it across the the large grass field from the ducky pond corner. It was so wonderful to witness it front row. The duckling images brought that memory back with smiles. Thanks again.

Eagles are making a comeback here in PA, so sightings can be more rare but are becoming more common. I haven't seen any fawns yet. Oddly, the doe still seem to be moving around in herds instead of going off on their own. We have a wood duck nest in a tree across the creek from our home. So I have a blind setup by our pond to photograph the ducks. Spring is a high point here and then it's all down hill. Or would it be up hill because it's tougher to find things to photograph?

    Josh,
    Yes let's talk about the elephant in the room. But I think there is a love story here and not about a camera. It is just the prop.
    First the selfish part of me is disappointed, not in your choice but in losing someone like me and that needs some explaining. I will shoot Nikon until the day I can no longer go out to shoot. Not because of any blind loyalty to a camera manufacture. For me, it is about the connection to my own past and the joy I have holding a camera that links to that past of experiences being out in nature that I love and the emotion that then transcends time back to the future, when I pickup my Z7ii. My very first film camera was a Nikon N70. A middling Nikon film camera that I bought near 30 years ago now. Picking up a Nikon always brings the rush of all the enjoyment, and even some frustration, of all those experiences back to me. So for me, its not about the best camera. It is the feeling I have that is connected through time, that that particular camera represents.
    For you, I have watched your story of love of photography merge with the love of your best friend, your wife. With the recent purchase of the Sony 7m4 so that she and you can continue to share what you both love together, the love story is now written. Nikon has nothing small that your wife can use that is anything like the Sony 7m4. I love my Z7ii, but I shoot landscapes. All that amazing focusing power in the Z9 is still a year away from a z7iii or a z/d500 replacement. So better than any gift of flowers for your wife, your gift to each other was, *sigh* :-) a Sony A1.

    • @BayouJosh
      @BayouJosh  2 роки тому

      Well Mark it was great owning that Z9. It’s a fantastic camera. I think you hit the nail on the head. That Sony A7iv really sold us. I had to make some decisions and I think my lack of patience had a lot to do with it. I don’t think I was ready to wait around another year to get something from Nikon that compared to Sony‘s $2500 cameras. Wildlife photography is very demanding on equipment. I hope Nikon continues their success. They do make a great product.
