I wouldn't go that far but it's subjective isn't it? Zep and Pink Floyd will play at my internal eternal party in the sky tho. They're definitely on the vip list.❤
In terms of a single song's impact, playtime/public exposure, record sales, accolades, legacy and induction into the national archives of a country where they aren't even citizens .... I'd say it should be on the short list!
What was that you asked. well girl, you just experienced one of THE most iconic songs ever written in not only Rock history, but in Music history period.
When I talk to the younger generation now and try to explain the difference between then and now…the first thing I think of is instruments and songwriting. We grew up on musicians who mastered their craft. That’s been lost. If I’m wrong please point me in the direction of anything being created now that can compare. ❤❤❤
I believe you should listen to the studio versions first. You get to hear it as we 1st did back then and see how and why they became classics. You can always listen to alternate or live versions later.
Now that you've heard the audio version, you MUST watch the 1973 MSG Live concert version of "Stairway to Heaven." It's magical, the vocals from Plant and Jimmy Page, making his guitar "sing" - his solo will astound you. There's something that happened, an experience, hearing this masterpiece of music at a Zepplin concert. You're never the same - in a good way!
I like the live version and everyone should hear it, but the Studio Version is where the magic resides as it was close to its inception and the acoustic brings in that earthy quality and Plants voice is perfect. 1973, shortly after😢 Plant had vocal surgery, his voice is in decline. The soundtrack for the 73 performance alters a few places as well, to correct or make better the sound. So the 1971 Studio Version is Supreme in Spirit
Goosebumps?? Indeed, everytime i hear that transition from fanfare to that immortal guitar solo to the finale...cant help it...for over 50 plus years and beyond. NO other song has ever done that for me...ever!
Please react to Heart doing a tribute to Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven, it's fantastic! "Heart Stairway to Heaven Kennedy Center Honors HD" it is just awesome!
It's like you have a hard time letting each new progression interrupt what you are listening to as the song goes on. And at the same time you become excited with what is yet to come. An absolute masterpiece.
Led Zeppelin was honored at the Kennedy center for life time achievement in rock. Three of the four member, Robert Plant singer, Jimmy Page guitarist and John Paul Jones bass are present in the balcony. John Bonham past years ago but his son Jason is playing drums in this song cover, Stairway to Heaven sung by Heart.. Robert Plant has a tear in hus eye. The Obamas are present and rockin'! A must watch.....
It's a great song but not sure if it's the best. I really loved it when I was young. As I have gotten older, Let It Be by the Beatles, which I could not stand when younger has surpassed this and a few Who Songs and Pink Floyd. Kashmir by Zeppelin is incredible
@@nthdegree1269 It's not even the best Led Zeppelin song. I don't mean the usual snobbish attitude I think it is an amazing song, but for me it's probably around 7th or 8th in regard to their catalogue. Zeppelin's best song is Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, a traditional song by design of Page's knowledge of copyright but performed by Zeppelin it is without question their song. A song that can crack the universe open to unknown wonders, then to be known by it's beauty only to fade as an echo of a distant memory that can be heard yet no longer seen.
I only subscribed yesterday I think, I can't remember if it was originally for Elvis Presley, which is quite possible. But at any rate I watch the number of your actions and it really is fun to go on this musical Journey with you as you discover some of this stuff. It's the music I grew up on. But I'm also a musician and I've always liked music of all kinds including music from around the world. And a fair amount of hip-hop which I basically saw evolve right in front of my face. But there was something about the sixties and particularly the 1970s that not only in terms of live performance, which is really hard to rival that era in certain ways, but just the beginnings of really modern studio technology but which would still be considered incredibly primitive by today's standards, and yet they were creating all kinds of amazing things.
Just the rock GOATs, doing GOAT things. Best recommendation is to start at album 1, song 1, and play them all. If you didn't want to dive that deep here's a few: Kashmir, Rain Song, Whole Lotta Love, Black Dog, Fool In The Rain, Ten Years Gone, Heartbreaker, Trampled Underfoot.
You'd probably love the Lincoln Center performance of the song, done by the Heart sisters with late Zeppelin drummer Bonzo's son on drums. You'll react the same way for it. "Why was that so fire?" Their whole night (being honoured at the Lincoln Center) was 22 minutes long but the finale to the tribute was this tune, slightly modified. (wink) You're great fun to watch and I reacted the same as you to this, but it was the day this dropped, 52 years ago. ✌❤
There is a reason this song has been voted as the best song of ALL TIME .... For me it will always be the song that ended our school dances in the late 70s and early 80s. Zeppelin is my 2nd favorite band of all time right behind the Stones.
Very genuine and nice to see someone experience it for the first time... Suggest "when the levee breaks".. if you're enjoying Zeppelin you'll like it...And it just may surprise you
Ashley, you really could feel the beat. Even before Bonzo came in, you knew it was coming. John Bonham is an amazing drummer. I'm included in calling him the best. Check his drum solo out< Moby Dick> live 1970. There are two great reacts to that solo, one from Gospel Drummer and the other from a Drumset Artistry, giving you context to how great he really was. The rest of the band are masters on their respective positions. Robert Plant, vocals/lyrics; John Paul Jones, organ/bass, Jimmy Page, guitar/composer/producer. Thank you for reacting to this great band!
More LZ fire - "When the levee breaks" (true story about 1927 flood in Mississippi) drum intro and harmonica plus Roberts voice is as blues as it gets - "Nobody's fault but mine" is a stone cold jam
You have good taste in music..💯💯 Very broad range.. It amazes me that there are 2 generations that are just now exploring classic, well written, well performed masterpieces.. Bravo!
Good Reaction Ashley to a song that was voted number three in 2000 by VH1 on its list of the 100 Greatest Rock Songs and was the most requested song on The USA FM Radio Stations though the song was never commercially released as a single. Led Zeppelin, like most great Rock Bands, are English..
@@johnwalsh9144 Yes and Led Zeppelin brings back a horrible mistake I made when around 19 years old in South East London. We had tickets for their show on a Saturday Night at The Empire Pool, Wembley in North West London but that afternoon, our Football team lost a rare Home game and it was terrible weather and just b4 I entered my home,a local fishmonger, accidentally, threw his boiling hot "slops" or leftover water, over my legs and though I was ok,I said to my mate that I was not going to travel across London on Public Transport after that day and we never did see them. Cost of the ticket to see them at their peak? 75 PENCE or $1........
Led Zeppelin, "Stairway to Heaven". I've been waiting to see you react to some legendary classic Rock Music. Y is your reaction was great. Know this you've only just begun. Rock on....
You are just scratching the surface with these guys. There are soooo many great songs. Haven't read through the other comments, but there a few songs I'd like to see you react too. You can't pigeon-hole them into one genre. Absolutely the best classic rock band of all time, IMHO
That was the best reaction to Stairway to Heaven that I've seen in years! I am sooooo glad you listened to the studio recording of this masterpiece. Too often, I see reactors listening to the live MSG video before ever listening to the original studio recording, and when I see that, I never watch those reactions...ever. The true magic in Led Zeppelin's songs were manifested in their studio recordings that were produced by arguably the greatest music producer who ever lived, Jimmy Page (who is also the bands guitarist and founder). Please listen to the official audio of the studio recording for the song "Since I've Been Loving You" off of the album Led Zeppelin III next. Peace
