The staves. Three sisters. I like the song "Mexico ", also "Icarus" I think only two of them are still touring but I love the harmonies. I got to meet them after a show in the twin cities over 10 years ago. Great ladies!!

The reason we had such a variety of music in the 1970s, was the radio played 'Top 40' songs!! There was rock, Pop, R&B, country, funk, all played on one station!! We weren't stuck listening to one genre of music, we loved it all!! You may hear 'Rock the Boat' by the Hues Corporation and the next 'Smoke on the Water' by Deep Purple!! That was so awesome about it!!! ✌️☮️ ❤

“I Need Love” by LL Cool J
“Mandolin Rain” by Bruce Hornsby & The Range
      “Breakout” by Swing Out Sister
Here are popular tunes from *1997* :
      “Bitch” by Meredith Brooks
“You Make Me Wanna” by Usher
      “Wannabe” by The Spice Girls
“The Freshmen” by The Verve Pipe
“Crash Into Me” by The Dave Matthews Band

I'm a 61-year-old black woman born and raised in Daytona. As a teen, we played R&B at home and at parties, but there were no R&B radio stations on the radio, so we listened to a lot of soft rock. I'm so glad I was exposed to songs like this. Never been a fan of straight rock, but I love the mix of rock and soul.

Given what Beyoncé is presently going through--with the gatekeepers of the country music industry?...it needs to be reiterated that:
Black people did not invent segregation; and, Black radio NEVER had an issue with playing White artists--whose music fit the format. We've never tried to keep white artists out of our musical pastures. Then, and now. And frankly??...that's a claim that ONLY Black radio (and Black people!) can make.
If you had/have the talent?...Black folks will welcome you into their artistic arena. 💯
And, in a historical sense?...no one other than Blacks can make that statement. 💯
      This is not a rant.
It is a fact that needs to be stated...once again.

Some like Teena Marie and Lisa Stansfield, etc., we used to say they had WAY TOO MUCH SOUL to be white! Side note: Lisa Stansfield is one of my favorite singers, you'd likely be most familiar with " All around the world" but she had 9 or10 studio albums with huge European success but still some great music, I think you'd really appreciate "All woman, if you react to it do the video version, the song will have you in your feels!
