back in the 70's when every member of the band could sing
Every member of the Rolling Stones could sing?
@@ChrisC709
So could every member of
the Bay City Rollers.
They didn't have auto-tune and that meant what you heard was authentic!!!
@@danarussell1291
Yup.
Even if it was "crap";
it was authentic "crap". 💯
BABY COME BACK....!!!!!!❤
Welcome to the 70’s👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 BEST MUSIC CAME OUT OF THE 70’S AND 80’S‼️‼️‼️‼️
and 60s 😅😅
No doubt at all, the very best times for music
Through the Early 80's not all the 80's.
@@irenecrescenzo6062ALL of the 80’s!!!
💯
Timeless.
That's why sampling came into vogue cuz the new crop lacked the creativity and/or talent and/or discipline to produce anything of substance..
You don't hear harmony like this is today's music. Natural harmony, nothing artificial.
The reason we had such a variety of music in the 1970s, was the radio played 'Top 40' songs!! There was rock, Pop, R&B, country, funk, all played on one station!! We weren't stuck listening to one genre of music, we loved it all!! You may hear 'Rock the Boat' by the Hues Corporation and the next 'Smoke on the Water' by Deep Purple!! That was so awesome about it!!! ✌️☮️ ❤
Yep but we need to give a shout out to the talk shows like Mike Douglas , Dick Cavette,, Dinah Shore etc because they never cared about race or color… they loved good music, they gave us Rock, Soul, Blues Country and some Opera ( I remember those guys also)… best times ever!
“Baby Come Back” came out in 1977. Ten years later, here are some of the big hits from *1987* :
“Dude (Looks Like A Lady” by Aerosmith
“Always” by Atlantic Starr
“(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party)” by Beastie Boys
“Tell It To My Heart” by Taylor Dayne
“Here I Go Again” by Whitesnake
“Songbird” by Kenny G
“Can’t We Try” by Dan Hill & Vonda Shepard
“I Need Love” by LL Cool J
“Mandolin Rain” by Bruce Hornsby & The Range
“Breakout” by Swing Out Sister
Here are popular tunes from *1997* :
“Bitch” by Meredith Brooks
“You Make Me Wanna” by Usher
“Wannabe” by The Spice Girls
“The Freshmen” by The Verve Pipe
“Crash Into Me” by The Dave Matthews Band
“Tubthumping” by Chumbawumba
“I’ll Be Missing You” by Puff Daddy & Faith Evans
“Foolish Games” by Jewel
“How Bizarre” by OMC
“I Don’t Ever Want To See You Again” by Uncle Sam
Subsequent decades seemed pretty _diverse_ to me. ✌🏽
@@MOS650 we also had Soul Train and American Bandstand!!!
We also had " The Saturday Night Special " .
@@budcunningham6732 We were blessed and didn’t realize it….. now look!
Welcome to the era when men knew how to sing to women & weren't afraid to show it. Superb performance. Excellent song choice for your reaction, Ashley. You're a better person for hearing this song.
Gen X here. Im glad to see youngsters learning about real music!!!
FACTS
There isn't any real music today. This trash they play today, it's like we reset and went backwards on music, movies and entertainment 😢
1973 here, I grew up listening to all the records my parents would play... the good ol days 😎😎😎😎

🤣🤣🤣
Hate to sound like the old doggie that I am, the new generations missed out
Unless
They have old school parents..
My 2nd son, in HS, came home from school one day...
Him: Dad. I heard this great song
today in music appreciation.
He started "Hey Jude.."
Me: The Beatles
He looked at me like I was a Martian 🤣🤣🤣
This is blue eyed soul at its best Ashley!
❤😊
Arrogant. Soul is soul. Ain't no skin color corner the market on talent. So sick of this kind of BS statement....🙄
This is not an arrogant statement on my end! Of course WE know that talent has no color! I love ALL talented artists regardless of race! This is not a BS statement in my opinion but it is meant to be a compliment!
@@roofslayer5850 I actually like that term, never heard it before. Don't take it so seriously lol
@@roofslayer5850 It's BLUE-EYED SOUL! I've said that since I was a child...and I'm 52 now. If you are sick of this BS statement, go to a therapist. I'm sure that you love saying WOKE, though.
@@dimpleface2163So what, ain't no woke folks here and I'm in my 60's, sonny. I see this type of BS all the time.
It IS arrogance. I can't tell you how many black folks I've seen who actually act SHOCKED that a white person actually sang something or I can't tell you how many always "thought they were black."
Look at all the reaction wanna bes.😂😂😂😂
Ridiculous. Why, because it was good or in a genre they believe they "own" or did everything in?
I see THAT a racist AND arrogant and I'm about as far from the insane left as you can get.
I'm CERTAINLY entitled to my opinion and if you don't like it, 🤷♂️
ASHLEY just like you are rocking out to this right now... this is how we 8th graders were rocking it out in the fall of 1977.. as a 13yr old black kid I loved this song, plus it Top the charts on the RB/SOUL stations!! That was many moons ago and I still enjoy it like it was yesterday!😊😊❤
👍💯
Be honest. Did you think they were black? 😉
A smooth jam that I still love today....NEVER gets old!!
Some of the best and most poetic lyrics of any song you'll ever hear especially the 3 lines with "mask of false bravado" ...
Wonderful selection young lady. The instrumentation, the crazy vocals and harmony. Your face gave this an A plus.
honestly one of my fav songs of all time
70s and 80s had the best music.....facts...
Half correct. Doesn't include all the 80's.
Glad to see this new generation appreciating GREAT music no cussing and with a meaning THANK YOU! KEEP THE GOOD WORK 👍
People of this time period didn't want to hear any cussing,at all.
Cheers Ashley! one of my fav. songs from back in the day . Yeah, a Boomer here. Thanks for appreciating the music I grew up with. 💕🔥
One way of looking at it is, you are just discovering how great these songs are, some of us took nearly fifty years to do it. 👍
If there's any old school "Bold and the Beautiful" fans out there, the dude at the end in the orange/red outfit played Ridge Forrester!! His real name is Ronn Moss!! He was so handsome as Ridge!! He isn't on there anymore, unfortunately!!! This was a very popular song in 1977, and I just loved it!! Lots of great memories!! ❤❤
I remember! I was working at a computer company in Austin! I had a stomach virus for two weeks and I would end up watching Days of Our Lives! And I heard a soap was coming to CBS! And found out that Kathrine Kelly-Lang was going to be in it! I watched just out of curiosity and ended up watching for about two seasons! The last soap opera I had watched was The Edge of Night! Also one of my favorite Alabama songs was There’s No Way with KKL! But yeah I knew the guy in red was Ridge!🙏🏻
@@jgali38 I watched B&B for a long time and was a huge Ridge Forrester fan!! When I saw a video of 'Player' and recognized him I literally squealed!!!
@@jgali38 yes 'Logan' as Ridge called her, was in that video!! Very sexy song too!! 🔥
Yep, I used to watch the Bold and the Beautiful with my grandmother during the summer time when it 1st premiered after Y&R over 30 years ago. I didn't know he was a musician in the group Player until many years later.
Wonderful reaction, Ashley. The amazing thing about this song and the group is that they were a one-hit wonder. It's hard to believe. They ooze so much talent in this performance.
Welcome to the 70s, great music and no autotune! I think this was their only hit. They are still touring. I feel so lucky to have grown up in the 70s. Another 70s band you might like is Ambrosia.
I remember when the song was played on the R&B/Soul radio station everyone loved it.
Yup, just like Gino Vannelli’s “I Just Wanna Stop”, Kenny Loggins’ “This Is It” And Ambrosia’s “Biggest Part Of Me”, I knew “Baby Come Back” from black radio. ✌🏽
Given what Beyoncé is presently going through--with the gatekeepers of the country music industry?...it needs to be reiterated that:
Black people did not invent segregation; and, Black radio NEVER had an issue with playing White artists--whose music fit the format. We've never tried to keep white artists out of our musical pastures. Then, and now. And frankly??...that's a claim that ONLY Black radio (and Black people!) can make.
If you had/have the talent?...Black folks will welcome you into their artistic arena. 💯
And, in a historical sense?...no one other than Blacks can make that statement. 💯
This is not a rant.
It is a fact that needs to be stated...once again.
@@heavydown2582 you speak facts! Something I was aware of my life , even as a small child I loved music and learned who the artist were and appreciated them all for their talent.
@@gabrielmcdonnell8699 yes The Stories- Brother Louie
Bee Gees -jive Talking
Doctor Hook- Sexy Eyes. And more . Music was music …period.
@@heavydown2582 💯I’ll be 53 in Dec and black radio in my upbringing consistently endorsed white artists that, as you stated, fit the format. Besides the previously mentioned Gino Vannelli, Kenny Loggins and Ambrosia, black radio had the following in their respective rotations: Hall & Oates, Boz Scaggs, Bobby Caldwell, Michael McDonald, Madonna, Phill Collins, Simply Red, Robbie Nevil, Nu Shooz, George Michael, Taylor Dayne, New Kids On The Block, Lisa Stansfield, Candy Dulfer, Jane Child, Tara Kemp, Good 2 Go, Remy Shand, Joss Stone, Robin Thicke... (Note: Didn’t incl Teena Marie and Jon B bc they were born at the cookout. ✊🏾)
Loved this song from my senior year, 1977 ❤️ 60’s and 70’s music…..🔥
I consider myself blessed to have grown up with great music.
I was in 10th grade when this came out , 70’s were the best glad I got to experience it 😎
Thank you for taking the time to discover the music I grew up listening to. And for sharing your reaction.
God bless.
Girl you getting deep into the classics❤
Ive been playing professional drums for 50 yrs and everytime we played at weddings or party's people would ask us to play this beautiful song "baby come back" and we just absolutely killed it, i love playing and making people happy and I'm so glad i stuck to playing the drums and making people dance to this wonderful music from the 1970's, thank you all and god bless . 🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁, the 1970's Rock always.
Some songs are just Legendary😊 This is One of Them❤
What has been termed "Yacht Rock" is some of the best music I've ever heard. You MUST do "How Much I Feel" by Ambrosia. I and everyone else can guarantee you'll love it. You'll wear your pen out clicking it. Lol
The male bands in the 70s had great harmonies... The Eagles, Ambrosia, Bread, Toto, Poco etc.... You should give a list to (Timothy Schmitt left Poco and join the Eagles)... I Can't Tell You Why, or The Biggest Part of Me (Ambrosia), Bread - Baby, I'ma Want You, Ace - How Long.
bgs
Man you left off the best one in the BeeGees…
Randy Meisner was with Poco before and after the eagles. Great harmonies in all of those groups. Good call!
You forgot the Bee Gees
One of the best songs ever recorded.
"Ridge Forrester" achoring on bass.
This song has one of the great outro guitar solos
So true.
I had no idea that Ron Moss was in Player. Always thought that guy looked like him 😂
BLUE EYED SOUL!!! Is a sub genre in itself, it would be musically educational and highly fulfilling for you to explore, it included groups like Player and The Bee Gees, Rick Astley, Daryl Hall, Simply Red, Michael Bolton, Michael McDonald, Jon B, Bobby Caldwell, Robin Thicke, Lisa Stansfield, Teena Marie and many others. Some like Teena Marie and Lisa Stansfield, etc., we used to say they had WAY TOO MUCH SOUL to be white! Side note: Lisa Stansfield is one of my favorite singers, you'd likely be most familiar with " All around the world" but she had 9 or10 studio albums with huge European success but still some great music, I think you'd really appreciate "All woman, if you react to it do the video version, the song will have you in your feels!
Don't forget Boz Scaggs
Blue Eyed Soul originated with The Righteous Brothers. The Best Duo ever. Check out You've Lost That Loving Feeling, Unchained Melody, Soul and Inspiration, Ebb Tide.
The 70s and 80s were Magic 👍🇺🇲
"any man singing this to me* she's forgetting the name of the band 😂 PLAYER
The lead singer and guitarist looking at you that way is Peter Beckett. 😂
Girl you a hot mess. 😂 I'm gone tell my husband on him.😂😂😂😅😂
😂😂🤣🤣👍👍
Right! How dare he look at us like that 😂😂😂🥵
Glad he wasn't looking at me 😂😂😂😆
I grew up with this music......very fortunate!!! Any song that brings out that beautiful smile of yours is 🔥
Ahhh the 70s. Great times. Thank you ❣️
I love this song and love looking at the guys in the band even more. I've watched a dozen reactions to this song and your reaction is the best. Subscribed.
That was a one-hit wonder that made it to the number 7 slot for the year. One of the best produced, arranged, and musically fluid songs of the era. That's why it has stood the test of time.
The 70's was the best times
Best music 60s, 70s, & 80s
I absolutely love watching reaction videos when the reactor is just as passionate as I am. 😊🥰
You're a black woman with an open mind, Ashley! I praise you for that!

Such a wonderful song! We loved the songs of the 70’s! Love was so passionate 😊
Those soft rock and hard rock Bands had lead singer with amazing vocals and musical talent
We old now ...but we were blessed to grow up with 60s...70s...80s songs on the radio......different world now..
The solo at the end is so sick.
I was twelve years old when this song was released in 1977. I still love listening to it at fifty eight.
Her expressions are great! LOL
Yes, Ashley, that was the FUNKY 70's. Music was so much entertaining back then, in my opinion.☺️
It’s an absolute tune! Great song structure, superb bridge, great harmonies.
Thank you for appreciating our music in the 70's. I graduated o. The 70's and boy oh boy were thwy great. Being an indigiouus Native American Indian I grew up with R&B music and soft rock. Glad you enjoyed our Blue eyed soul. There are so many groups then that people did not knew were Ango. Thank you for the memories 💯🎧🎤🎤🫶👏
Ashley girl is blushing. ☺️☺️☺️☺️
This is still one of my favorite songs and that look he gave could melt the coldest heart! Whew!🔥 Love your reaction to this perfect song!
One of my all time favorite songs and I'm an R&B Lover.
Loved your reaction to this absolute classic hit.
The logical follow up to this song would be "She's Gone" By Hall and Oats
This song came out when I was 13 and I fell in love with it. Especially Ron Moss (bassist)
Great reaction Ashley, soon as I seen this I knew you would love it! One of the smoothest love songs! Harmonies are fire!
Indeed, this was categorized as blue-eyed soul... and an example could be "Sara Smile" by Hall and Oates, which you'll find in my collection of their greatest hits.
What an accurate name for the band. PLAYER
In the 70s, as a teen I was crushin' so hard on these guys. If they sang this to me, best believe Id come back, lol. Harmony's so beautiful. Oh, yes grl, I see how hes lookin' at us. 🔥🔥
Loved your reaction to every part of this song. It’s so good to see someone get the light & shade as well as the nuances of songs like this. ❤
The singer in the Red Shirt is Ron Moss who plays “Ridge” on the soap opera Bold & The Beautiful!😂
This song by Player reminds me of another soft-rock staple of the time by Ambrosia, called "How Much I Feel". You seem to really like songs that tell stories, so...I think you'll like this one to.
Enjoying your channel!
Fun fact...bass player became huge Soap Opera star on CBS
Watching you and listening to this, which I grew up listening to, brings tears to my eyes.......I love it!
Love the wonderful, enthusiastic reaction, Ashley! 😁
My fav of all time..and the that is one heck of a list of greats
Love your genuine reaction, girl!
see the bass player in the red outfit? that's Ronn Moss. He later became even more famous as an actor playing Ridge Forrester on the soap opera The Bold and The Beautiful
Really wanted you to react to this song for so long. Glad you did. A 70s masterpiece.
Real Music. I bought this as a teenager. This is soul. Or as we called it back in the day: "Blue Eyed Soul".
Hi Ms. Ashley, I used to like this song, but I have changed my mind, I Love this song.. I can not believe this is their only top 40's hit.. ♠Mr.G..
The Transformers song played by Bumblebee when Megan Fox walks away from the camaro . That scene was so epic ❤
This is baby boomers music back in the '70s This is my music '70s and '80s and this is not rigged up music these people had to be able to sing back then
Now you have to like this old school classic
The guy singing in red is "Ridge" from the Bold and the Beautiful...true story.
Just KNEW you'd love this💖💯
I swear this song has been in my head consistently since I first heard it in late 1977 as a nine-year-old!
No auto tune. Just pure awesome music
😊 really enjoyed your reaction to this! The music I grew up listening to. ❤
Ashley This is one Classic 80' beatful.. love love love ❤❤❤
You is one lover..
You reaction beatful.. kissss
first time here. great song and your smile absolutely rules! thank you!
The guy in red plays Ridge Forrester on The Bold and Beautiful wow how time flies 😢
I remember this group, and they not only are masters, but HOT as well!
When this record was released, they had never had a record before. The recording company had the DJ's announce it as "the newest release by Player". lol The man in red is named Ron Moss, he became Ridge Forrester on The Bold and the Beautiful, from 1987 to 2012.
My all time favorite song!! ❤❤
Niece 🩷. Player/Baby come back, was the ****, back in the day. YAAAAAS. 🖤🖤🖤
Great song, fabulous harmonies, marvelous reaction!! 😅
Every good group at the time ⏲️
Just FIRE!!!!
"OOH !!! Don't look at me like that !! " 😅
That look gets a lot of reactions like yours.

Beejees born in the 70's BABY come back !!!!!❤
I spent most of the 80s dancing anytime and anywhere I could from clubs, after hours joints and even house parties (before the young knuckleheads started shooting up the joint)
And
Even going to concerts.
Why?
Because of the VAST VARIETY (understatement) of music available to us
NYC even has "after work" and "lunch time" discos
Plus
The DJs were on point...😉
The guitar player in the red played Ridge Forrester from 1987 to 2012 on the Bold and the Beautiful for 25 years. His name is Ron Moss.
The sound that exemplified the 70’s.
The First Rigg from Bold & The Beautiful Soap Stories Tv Show Guy In The Red Playing The Bass ...Wow Right..lol
Yeah that last look at the camera is a pure turn on ☺️☺️☺️😊👍🇺🇲💯
If you know the soap opera
“The Bold And The Beautiful”
The guy in the red “Ronn Moss” plays Ridge Forrester on the bold and the beautiful
Great example of "blue-eyed soul"
