    I wanna see more abilities that are useful for both combat and exploration. I prefer abilities that make me feel like I'm getting more powerful rather than solely just something that is basically just a key to access new areas that really don't offer anything to aid combat.

      Remember when Zelda adopted Metroid's style in Skyward Sword? They gave Link a limited arsenal and had the player reuse those items throughout the game. Maybe Nintendo will have you keep your weapons a la Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, and just reused them throughout the game too.

    • @ComradeChyrk
      @ComradeChyrk Місяць тому

      @applejuicejunkie316 idk about that. For me on the one hand, it's kind of annoying that every game needs to come up with some contrived reason for Samus to lose all her powers from the previous game, but on the other hand that's the catalyst that gives way to the gameplay loop that people play metroid for of continuously unlocking new items and abilities to progress the game. I do hope that we gen genuinely new beam types that aren't just more powerful versions of the old one you had. Something like the ice beam that both acts as a weapon, but also a tool in the 2d games to freeze enemies and use them as platforms. I'd love to see some brand new concepts instead of rehashes of old ones with maybe 1 or 2 new abilites

    DOOM and Prime are the only two FPS/A games I still enjoy. Prime has great exploration and atmosphere, and DOOM just kicks ass. Both are great. The more Prime 4 can lean more into kick ass combat but maintain its Metroid Prime roots, the better. Dread definitely ramped up the combat. Dread is my favorite 2d Metroid. Boss battles were fantastic.

    Loved Metroid Dread and I agree. I would love to see a way to keep the gameplay pace up for Prime 4.
    However, I think of the gameplay speed in Dread as somewhat similar to a 2D equivalent to Doom Eternal in terms of the traversal and combat options. I don't think Prime 4 will go in that direction and will stick with the Prime traversal and combat formulas.

    One thing I'd love to see would be ledge grabbing and being able to shoot at the same time. Prime 2 and 3's space jump and ledge grabs were ok but the way I imagine it is if you're by a ledge you hold a shoulder button and she'd grab it, and then you press a different button and she aims back to shoot stuff behind her. They could do it first person but I bet that'd be confusing for most people, but if they zoom it out and have it be over her shoulder or something it could be used for some killer action sequences where she's hanging onto a moving object like a giant boss and shooting weakpoints. Other M may have sucked but I think it did the space jump and screw attack correctly, and I think if they made the environments suited for it, it could work well in a prime game.

    My lessons learned wishlist
    1) Space out your gear drops
    2) Don't centralize combat around a single mechanic (in Dread's case the counter)
    3) More diverse map pathing and exploration is good
    4) Let your items be useful in many places. Don't have your new items only be useful for 2-3 rooms and maybe a single boss.

    Dread took influence from the combat in the Samus Returns Remake for the 3DS. Especially the aiming laser and using finishing moves against bosses. I hope they don’t bring back all the different beam types like they did in Hunters. It such a messy and annoying system to cycle and keep up ammo supplies. I’ve always liked beam stacking

    It have to learn from Dread, because of its various and complete gameplay, like my first time from start to finish the game I was lost because of the abilities for some that requires exigent combination of inputs to realise them, for the Speedbooster it would be incredible using it in fps or maybe in tps like the camera is just behind the head of Samus exactly like before and after switch between walk and Morphing Ball and we could chose between the different view so the experience is rich and various, for charging the Shinespark we'd have to press the Morphing Ball during Speedbooster (or twice rapidly if we want to keep the Morphing Ball accessible during Speedbooster and it would be setup in the settings as well!), You know, like Metroid is peak gameplay, it's not for nothing that Super is part of the main game reference in speedrun history till next day!

    …you know that the Prime series is a branched storyline from the main Metroid storyline? The Prime series is set between the even Metroid 2/Samus Returns and Super Metroid. Dread is at the end of the timeline so alot of her abilities you hope for technically shouldn’t appear in MP4 Beyond.

    • @NXbeyond
      @NXbeyond  Місяць тому

      @Ryuujin1078 I understand that, but I also think that's a cop out because samus is always presented as being super agile in every games promotional art or in-game cinematics.
      Samus is never tank like, and the only reason she was designed that way in prime one was because of the hardware limitations.
      They had to load each small room on those tiny gamecube discs, so having samus freely run room to room super quickly was always going to be impossible.

    I don't want a speed in a Prime game. A sprint button is maybe fine, but the Speed booster is overkill.
    The Prime games are about exploration and immersion. The 2D games are about speed and fluidity of gameplay.
    Also. The 2D Metroid games are rooted in sci-fi/horror.

    • @weatherman1504
      @weatherman1504 Місяць тому +2

      Definitely. The slower more deliberate pace of the Prime games is one part of what I enjoy about them. They're really about taking in the world at your own pace, which is very nice. Though, I will say, there is definitely some sci-fi horror elements in the Prime games.

    • @GuiItyUniverse
      @GuiItyUniverse Місяць тому +2

      @weatherman1504 Metroid as a whole, I would argue it's closer to "Horror" than most horror games out there today. Given that most of them rely solely on cheap jumpscares to startle the player.
      Startling just isn't the same as scaring.
      What I meant was that Prime isn't as focused on horror as the 2D games. Not that it has none. The tense atmosphere helps. But I would also argue the GameCube version of prime with tank controls is the best way to play a first playthrough. Any playthroughs after that I think the Switch is perfect for.

    i only hope prime 4 doesnt lean into dread's storytelling method of keeping u in the dark until mid-game, where u get one huge lore dump and proceed to remain in the dark once again. But what irks me the most is how samus herself was overstoicized so much that it felt jarring to watch and the chozo and samus's relationship was ignored for the most part considering that this is the farthest point in the timeline and samus had not seen a living chozo since her federation days.

  • @robertkenny1201
    @robertkenny1201 Місяць тому +1

    Sadly I don't have alot of faith that Prime 4 will sell too much better then Dread regardless of how much of a flawless masterpeace it turns out to be, I think Metroid will remain a niche franchise for Nintendo.

    there shouldnt be a sprint button, samus should always be running so just increase movement speed if thats ur problem. she always be sprinting in the 2d gmaes anyways. it's a waste of a button and limits u in gameplay. usually when u got a sprint button it stops u from shooting or using any other abilities. it kinda fucked up halo for example. (edit -> speaking of halo they could take some stuff from halo infinite how they handled the grapple in combat kinda how u had explained it stunning enemies and zooming to em)
    shinespark is cool tho i can see that being used in an fps style.

      Sprint messed Halo up because it disturbed a combat loop very specific to those games. The Prime Trilogy doesn’t have anything akin to Halo’s ‘Golden Triangle’ so I don’t see the point in comparing the two.
      If Prime 4 has larger, more open areas, it could absolutely facilitate sprinting and sliding.

      @@robbiejelsomeno5679 metroid prime relies on ur visors and abilities. sprint would probably limit ur ability to use these bc that's how it works in most games. I use claw grip on controller so this wouldn't effect me but for others their thumb would be occupied holding the sprint button to run so that's another way it would stop u from using abilities and visors. just give her a fast base movement speed u can slow down by turning the stick at varying degrees. Metroid doesn't have the golden triangle but it still has other core gameplay elements that would be disrupted by an unnecessary sprint mechanic
      also Metroid does not have larger areas. it generally has small areas connected with doors. the first mission in the first halo is larger than any area in any prime game.

    • @robbiejelsomeno5679
      @robbiejelsomeno5679 Місяць тому +2

      @@novathepug6692 I fundamentally disagree with everything said here. “That’s how it works in most games.” Just isn’t applicable because Metroid is fundamentally different from most FPS games. Not to mention that visors seem to be playing a smaller role in Prime 4 as the usual spot for visors on the UI is taken up by missile selection.
      Also, just because Metroid Prime games have had smaller areas, doesn’t mean that 4 needs to have them as well. The original trilogy was made for incredibly limited hardware, the series has room to expand now.
      As for your last point, ‘Pillar of Autumn’ is the first mission in Halo CE, and that mission is basically a collection of hallways.
