I first realized this was possible when I noticed that the blue in a floral print skirt was really an optical mix of purple and turquoise hatching. I've played with orange and green to mix yellow ochre, golds and golden browns.
A good mix for red would be cadmiun yellow or some kind of bright warm yellow and quinacridone magenta. It makes a red that is similar to cadmium red or scarlet lake.
Red is really just yellowish magenta 😉 And while red is a primary color according to Traditional Color Theory, it is not a primary color according to Modern Color Theory. This a rabbit hole that is not really worth going down. Suffice it to say that there are many shades of red, many shades of blue, and many shades of yellow. Pick your poison.
Jenna, a question about one of your vids on setting up a palette... that was the plastic palette with the thumb hole... do you have a vid about setting up a home palette? Or, asked another way, does your home palette differ from that plastic traveling palette? Just getting started, so I am suffering from analysis paralysis! Thanks.
That is a beautiful tutorial!!!, who would have thunk it!!. Can you please tell me what brush you are using?, it isn’t one of your original suggestions. Perhaps I just have not watched enough of your videos lately. 🙏🏼

You can also use purple and green to make stormy blue
thank you, this was great.
That’s a really lovely shade, I also love adding violet to my browns to make them more vibrant 😊
Never thought it possible to mix any color to get red! Awesomeness 👌
My favorite new mix is Paynes grey and lemon yellow, a gorgeous distant blue 😊.
Your floral is beautiful, you always make it look so easy.
I just mixed Payne's Grey with every color in my pallet yesterday, and got some beautiful results.
Purple can do so much! Bakers use it to turn their wedding butter cream white 🍰
I was admiring the photography on your website today. I love the style, so megakudos to whoever did that work.
Jenna, your pallet is a work of art. Packed with gorgeous colors
Reminds me of my favorite brown red from Mijello paints. thank you for showing us how to make my new favorite color.
Beautiful work jenna

Clever! I always appreciate your tips 😊
Let’s dive in 🏊♀️
My colour library has totally expanded in the years since I learned about Pantone colours from you!
Great information! Thank you.
Red is a primary color, what you created is a lovely shade of brown leaning to rusty colors. Nice brush strokes.
Except that mixing magenta and yellow will make red ✨

I will have to try that
I like that purple and black make a nice olive green
You can mix yellow and magenta to get a real, bright red.
Love this unique color
You give us so much cool info!! Great video:)
Interesting, color mixing.🤔
Thank you
Using pyrrol orange (PO73) and dioxazine violet (PV23) will create a brighter red-brown.
Your flowers always look so pretty! Love mixing but can’t really draw & try and try to do these florals but don’t see image in my mind.

I got confused XD because orange is made from red.. hahaha
This is awesome though! :o

Great!
Can you try and mix something similar to Dragon’s Blood?
Love
I wonder what happened if I mix green and pink together?
