    I first realized this was possible when I noticed that the blue in a floral print skirt was really an optical mix of purple and turquoise hatching. I've played with orange and green to mix yellow ochre, golds and golden browns.

    You can also use purple and green to make stormy blue

    My favorite new mix is Paynes grey and lemon yellow, a gorgeous distant blue 😊.

    Purple can do so much! Bakers use it to turn their wedding butter cream white 🍰

    A good mix for red would be cadmiun yellow or some kind of bright warm yellow and quinacridone magenta. It makes a red that is similar to cadmium red or scarlet lake.

    Red is a primary color, what you created is a lovely shade of brown leaning to rusty colors. Nice brush strokes.

      Except that mixing magenta and yellow will make red ✨

    • @chuckdavis3851
      @chuckdavis3851 Рік тому +3

      Red is really just yellowish magenta 😉
      And while red is a primary color according to Traditional Color Theory, it is not a primary color according to Modern Color Theory. This a rabbit hole that is not really worth going down. Suffice it to say that there are many shades of red, many shades of blue, and many shades of yellow. Pick your poison.

    Using pyrrol orange (PO73) and dioxazine violet (PV23) will create a brighter red-brown.

    Jenna, a question about one of your vids on setting up a palette... that was the plastic palette with the thumb hole... do you have a vid about setting up a home palette? Or, asked another way, does your home palette differ from that plastic traveling palette? Just getting started, so I am suffering from analysis paralysis! Thanks.
