Fits with my understanding of chess.
The Berlin Defense was "invented" in the middle of the 19th century and not in the 1950's.

Spoiler: Ends with 34 openings left to rate. Part 2 incoming?
It literally says "part 1" in the thumbnail of the video

I love how stupid the bongcloud is that it actually works.
Hot take, Hikaru is a narcissistic egomaniac.
I quite literally spat out my coffee in surprise when i saw bongcloud at the top in the thumbnail
Levy talking about the GM level when he's an IM lmao
Hey what happened to all the other ones? I was so excited to see the Queen‘s Gambit, Ruy Lopez and Reti opening which were the first three I started learning once I began playing. Such a great video, so insane the internet allows us these insights for free
i feel like "Unbreakable" is a bad name for its category. something like "Powerful" would definitely be a lot more fitting, and i feel like the tier names are definitely influencing your opinions on the openings
I love how the image for Najdorf is Kasparov with a smug face
The Alekhine in garbage? *cries*
I really like it, Magnus plays it sometimes and you really skip many e4-e5 lines that are complicated, you either get the alekhine or the 4 knights which you will have a lot of experience with as black.
Bongcloud no memes i've found works really well against anyone under 1000 elo also. It completely scrambles ALL their very limited opening theory knowledge and it's funny to watch them push out queens/dark squared bishop and then not know what to do with it because the king is on e2 and you can have fun trapping it. Provided you are over 1200 elo of course. If you are evenly matched with your opponent never do it.
Also the Catilan opening being so much more popular now because of carslen using it during the wcc
So what this means is that Vampire Gambit is unbreakable. I have never been so happy.
Exchange French: Please, Black, equalize immediatly. ¬¬
Exchange Caro-Khan: All the difference is in the imbalace, grasshopper.
Benoni: I'll give up the center for some funny fianchetto shenanigans. I hope this doesn't blow up in my face with White playing f4... (kaboom)
English: I'm versatile.
Advance French: The d4 pawn says: "I'm in Danger".
It’s sad to see how highly Hikaru talks of Kramnik and his contributions to chess when we see how Kramnik views him today 😢
10:51 Alapin is very nice opening 💪🏻
hikaru: alekhine as garbage
magnus: really bro...beats hikaru in the alekhine
@GMHikaru Magnus beat Aronian and I believe Caruana with the Alekhine's fairly recently. Being one of my favorite openings, you were one of the first players that got me to try the opening when you smashed with it in the past. It is definitely not garbage Hikaru, it may be lower tier, but by far not bottom. It would really mean a lot if you corrected this in your next tier list. Thanks. Just a bit disappointed seeing that you have champion'd the opening in the past.
breaking news: random tells GM that their opinion on an opening is wrong
(although gms have used it to beat other gms, it doesn't mean that the opening is good)
This is the first time i take any knowledge of chess theory
And I learned that the opening i taught myself is called the berlin defense, i really love it as my go to playstyle
