Watching all of these back to back, the only thing I notice is that, except for the last one with Balan, there are only 3 songs and choreographies the two at the center use. The only things that really change are the secondary dancer's costumes, the camera angles and the way the stage moves. Even then, those of similar song and choreography feel like the stage moves in similar fashion as the others as well.
So... they use the same 2-3 dance moves and songs?

My imagination currently: balan is in smash, whenever he wins, one of these 3 songs is his victory theme. The person dancing alongside him would be whoever was in 2nd place, and anyone who was also in the fight would be the backup dancers.

On one hand, I love the idea of incorporating musical theatre dance routines into cutscenes. On the other, I look at these poor man’s MMD animated “dances” and just die of laughter at how ridiculous it looks. The slow walk at the beginning always kills me and makes me think it’s some crappy romance scene😂😂😂

Gonna be honest i dont like these dance scenes they feel really robotic and dont have much personality look at there faces they look dead
They’re also really making the background do a lot of the work, most of the characters remain stationary throughout the entire number, while the ground below them is what’s actually moving from place to place, this looks more like the dancing sequence at the end of a little kids cartoon episode than an actual musical, the fact they only dance at the very end of each world after everything’s over and all problems have been solved, only dancing in some very specific area while always doing dances in a similar vane, the songs repeating themselves while also being too general and not really adding anything to the story, and nobody really singing but some random disembodied voice just makes it all the more similar to a preschooler cartoon party than a theatrical musical, unless it’s those that are purely to entertain and see people dancing, which even then it still falls for those kind of music numbers catered exclusively to young children

I've seen MMD dances from 10 years ago have more emotion.
I think it might just be the designs of the characters. It's too cartoonist for this kind of realistic dancing when their body proportions are weird.

It's a useful tool, but looks uncanny on stylized characters without extensive edits, which clearly didn't happen here.

I think it's pretty telling that even in the group section, Balan looks the least strange with this animation. The lanky and smooth shapes really help ease the MMD wonkiness

I love how they have the biggest/tallest people doing some of the most acrobatic dance moves. Honestly a few of them you can see they had to stretch the animation for them doing it on a few.

I really love the music in this game. As basic as the lyrics are, upbeat, circus-like, power ballads like this are my guilty pleasure. I can also see this game had great ideas, but they just weren't executed well. Imagine what a spectacle these scenes could've been if they were actually animated well? *sigh* Now I'm sad... Sad at thinking how amazing this game *could've* been.
